If you are overweight do not go to American Family Care on Gateway in Columbus GA and see Dr. Jeff Jenkins. You could be bleeding to death and he would say it’s because of your weight. I went to this urgent care because of big swelling and pain in my left foot and terrible pain in my right knee whenever I put weight on it feels like my tendon is ripping. The DR came into my room and didn’t say hello or how are you, the first thing out of his mouth to me is “Your weight is killing you” and then proceeded to ignore everything I was telling him and would constantly say “well it’s because you are 300lb” “you’re killing yourself” “ your weight is killing you.” Then when I stated I have never had this issue before he said “Well you are getting older and that weight kills you.” I‘m twenty five, I am not old. He barely looked at my ankle and touched my knee for approximately 1 second. This is by far the worst experience at a urgent care I have ever had and I hope Mr Jenkins looses his liscenes because he should not be a Dr if he has such a serious problem with fat people. I found another review that states he said her problem was due to this woman’s weight as well. Seems like Mr Jenkins is afraid of thick girls.

Worst experience ever. PLEASE READ all 1 star reviews they are all facts about this place. Starting with the receptionist who seems like she doesn't like working there, I called in to make an appointment she said she they didn't have openings until a month ( turns out they accept walk ins) which I wasn't told about. The doctors are incompetent, I requested an X ray which they refused because they didn't want me to spend money, I made it clear money isn't the issue and still got denied my request. The doctor either was in a rush or doesn't enjoy his profession anymore. Get rid of all the staff and doctors and replace them with people who actually care and enjoy being there. This should of been a red flag for me since the start with the unprofessional receptionist.

With the current Covid-19 pandemic, wait times are slightly longer. However, this is for the safety of the patients! Extra precautions are necessary to prevent the spread of infection. Ms. Williams was helpful beyond her duties. She went above and beyond to assist me. The staff moved swiftly and efficiently, during my care. Courtesy and empathy were extended to me. I will visit again, when needed.
