Made an apt at 9:20 arrived at 9:05 only one person ahead of me. Got called back checked my daughter, girl was short with me and hurried us to a room. We were then left in a room for almost an hour. I heard two people who came in with no apt after us get waited and checked on while we were left in the room. I had to go to the front to ask how much longer it would be and the girl looked surprised like they forgot about me. She said she was with someone and should be with us shortly. The PA came and checked her and said if she had already been swabbed which she hadn’t so we had to wait even longer to have someone come in swab my daughter and wait on the results to come in. I get stuff can be busy but when you make an apt and get forgotten about or have people who came afterward with no apt get seen beforehand is ridiculous and very poor service. It should not take that long and my daughter should have been swabbed in the first place for a sore throat instead of having to wait another 10 minutes when everyone was already upset and tired of waiting. Need to do better

The only ‘problem’ with my appointment was a little wait-but I came early so I really can’t complain. The staff was all wonderful, I was very impressed with the whole visit. Thank you for taking care of me.

I've been fighting a UTI for about 2 weeks but haven't had time to seek medical attention. While visiting family in Victoria, I conceded it was not going to go away on its own and I made my way to the Sam Houston clinic. Check-in was easy. Wait time was excessive, but this can't always be helped. What I was not happy with, was the LVN or CNA that took my vital signs. I do not know her credentials because she was not wearing a name badge or any type of identification. I certainly wasn't my usual "ray of sunshine" that day, but I was feeling very weak, fatigued and running out of steam fast. I apologize. Despite this, I made sure the young girl knew my most pertinent history and offered my medication bottles. She did not care to see them. She said, "I have them in the computer". I found this amusing (and impressive) considering I recently had meds stopped, dosages changed etc. from both my primary NP and Neurologist. Nonetheless, I am an RN of 30 years. I know how to manage my meds. I was expecting to receive a script for antibiotics and be on my way. This is exactly what happened, and I was extremely satisfied with the NP that saw me. She did not rush me. She listened when I told her my seizures can be triggered by infections. She did not gloss over the fact that my usually super high BP was extremely low that day (not uncommon for me). Like most people, I don't usually make an effort to leave reviews (a habit I am trying hard to break). My reason for leaving this review is not to shame the girl's attitude. She may have had an awful week, fought with her significant other, just put her dog down... who really knows? My concern is for the majority of patients that come in needing to be seen. The patients that do not have medical knowledge, do not understand their medications or the ramifications of not treating their underlying conditions correctly. A sub-par assessment can quickly escalate into a full-blown emergency. I advise the clinic to please provide refresher training for all nursing staff. What I have learned throughout the years, is to always expect the worst. While performing the triage assessment, don't be afraid to ask the patient if they have healthcare training. If they do, great! That's what I call an Easy-Breezy. But be warned, because how a patient looks on the outside doesn't always reflect what's happening on the inside. Looking and listening properly can be all that's needed to keep the defibrillator paddles tucked away and the ambulance at bay.

I brought my 11 yo daughter in for congestion and cough that she has had off and on for a month. Chelsea commented she didn’t see a reason for antibiotics. I told her I suspected sinusitis. She replied that it would take 8-10 days of inflammation and congestion to develop a sinusitis. I reiterated that she had indeed been sick for  a few weeks and asked to at least call in an antibiotic in case she did not improve with symptomatic treatment. She repeated her assessment of no reason for antibiotics.  While I appreciated her taking the time to encourage my daughter to take her medication, she clearly was not listening to the history of the illness.
