What patients are saying...

I wasn't planning to write a review, but the constant texts and emails asking me to do so have worn me down. This was my first time at Carbon Health, and it will be my last.  The staff was friendly, but the business model itself is a mess.  Online it says to show up 10 minutes before your appointment, which all 3 of us who had 9 am appointments did.  We waited until the door opened at 9 and then it took about 10 minutes to check in each person.  The most shocking part about the whole place is that there are only two chairs in the waiting room. That would be fine if they only scheduled one person at a time, but since they are scheduling 3 at a time, they need more chairs.  When I finally went in almost an hour later (I was the third person in line, but the second called in), there were 14 people in line.  A minimum of 15 chairs, and two self-check-in kiosks would make the business far more convenient and comfortable for all of the sick people who come in.  I watched person after person have issues, including one man almost in tears, as they couldn't find him in the system despite his whole family having gone multiple times in the past. I had a bad cold, which led to severe ear pain, and was there because it was virtually the only option on a Sunday.  I told the dr. that my ear pain was a 10/10 and that both ears were bleeding.  She looked at me skeptically (like maybe she had never encountered that before).  I expected her to use the typical device to probe in my ears, but surprisingly, it was just a flashlight.  She said she saw no evidence of an ear infection or blood. She said she would call in a decongestant right away.  Six hours and three trips to the pharmacy later, I was finally told that what was called in was an over-the-counter medicine. After two more days, my ears were still badly hurting and bleeding, and thank goodness my regular dr. squeezed me in.  He used the usual probe to check my ears and said I had severe ear infections in both of my eardrums and that he could see where I was bleeding from.  He said it is rare for adults to get this type of infection, but it does happen.  He said that had I not come in, it would not have gone away on its own due to the fact that it was bacterial, not a virus. He prescribed me 10 days of a strong antibiotic, Augmentin.  I am not blaming the dr for this or the girl at the desk.  They were obviously overwhelmed, under staffed and not provided with the tools they needed to properly care for people, but had I not gone in; I could have had permanent hearing issues.  It's scary to think people take their kids there, assuming they will get proper care.  Next time one of us gets very sick on the weekend, we will go to urgent care.   Also, the star options at the top are also inadequate.  The office was clean, scheduling was easy, and the staff was friendly, but I had to change these to 3 stars so my review didn't show up as 4 stars!

Well, it wasn’t too bad. I couldn’t really get the work done that I needed was able to get a couple of things done but I need blood work and it would’ve been too much of a hassle. Seems like and also because it was urgent care it would’ve cost me a whole lot of money so I need to go to a regular doctor. I guess other than that the person that I seen was OK did a really good job seem like he was concerned and cared about my situation so I really appreciate that.

They gave my son the medical attention needed and even sent us for precautionary x-rays at the San Marcos location. I’m glad they did because he ended up having pneumonia that was not noticeable in the exam.

This is my second time at Carbon Health Escondido, Both times I’ve had a positive experience. Excellent, friendly, professional staff, very short or non-existent wait times and good care. It’s so nice to be able to make a same-day appointment for urgent care. The only negative is that Carbon Health Does not take my insurance. Highly recommended
