What patients are saying...

This is the worst ER/Urgent Care for children I've ever experienced. It deserves zero stars. All of the 1 start reviews are accurate, and I find it humorous that "patient relations" responds to every single one with a phone number, as if someone actually cares (they don't). No one in this hospital cares, especially not the worn down, miserable staff in ER/Urgent Care. You're on an assembly line the moment you walk through the door. Front desk sends you here. Check in nurse doesn't want you to talk, then sends you there. Triage nurse sends you here. Registration sends you over there. 1+ hours later, you're sent to a room with your ill child. The very first thing they do, without fail, is figure out whether to bring you a $25 dose of ibuprofen, or a $25 dose of acetaminophen. Oh, and a popsicle. In the case of today, my son got Gatorade. This is the second time in 4 days I've brought my child in. He has had a fever for 4 days, tested positive for influenza A. His symptoms are typical flu, but he was worse this morning. We got worried, so decided to bring him back. I have had a terrible experience here in the past with my other child, who was then an infant, so shame on me for giving them another chance. I should have listened to my gut, but I didn't and very disappointed I am. The resident doctor came in and told me all of the reasons he can't have Tamiflu or IV fluids. The light thing they use to check eyes, ears, throats didn't work, so she sent in a $25 dose of acetaminophen. Perfect. Then the ER doctor came in and said "I think he's fine, bring him back tomorrow if he still has a fever". You think I'm joking? I'm not. The lady with discharge papers came in and I got really upset. My kid says his throat hurts, no one checked his throat. He's coughing, has a fever that won't go down, and has lost 2 lbs in 4 days. We know he has a virus, why didn't you check his ears? No one has checked his temperature in over an hour, how do you know he should be discharged? WHY DID I BRING MY CHILD TO THESE PEOPLE? He's not fine. He's a sick little boy. I am capable of buying him Gatorade and giving him OTC fever meds. I'm 40 years old, I know what the flu is. I can also read and my hearing is fine, so I'm fully aware that the flu is going around right now. He's not getting better after 4 days, he's getting worse. I brought him today because my gut tells me something isn't right, which is why I brought him in to be seen by a pediatric doctor in hospital supposedly focusing on children. You people didn't check him. You didn't recheck his temp, you didn't look in his throat/ears/nose/eyes. He got a partial, visual "check" and a sugary drink. And when I pointed out how frustrating the whole visit had been, I am asked if I want a "patient relations card" - LITERALLY WHILE STANDING IN THE ER EXAM ROOM. No, I don't want to call and complain, I WANT A DOCTOR WHO CAN EXAMINE MY SICK CHILD. So the same doctor comes in again and pretends to check his ears and throat. Unbelievable. Terrible care. It's as if they truly don't care, even when I stand there and tell them they don't care. We left. And we will never return. I highly recommend the really good hospital right across the street, UCHealth Highlands Ranch. They see children and they actually honestly care. Littleton Hospital has an excellent pediatric ER as well. Pretty much, take your child anywhere but here.

I’ve taken my daughter in several times, and have never had a bad experience. However, being in healthcare, I have realistic expectations. This campus and all of the staff are wonderful.
