Door to doc time was prolonged. I suspect your EHR conversion is part of the challenge.  I really did not need to visit as my issue could have been resolved over the phone.  However I was told when I called that the provider who saw me was not there.  I could have talked to the provider and described my persisting symptoms from my visit 6 days earlier.  That plus the provider’s notes should have been adequate to change the Rx.

I am visiting the area for one week and found myself in need for medical attention. Mercy Urgent Care Weaverville was great, and I could not be more happy with the care I received, in particular from PA Katy who was fantastic. She was friendly, competent and knowledgeable. I highly recommend her.

The front desk needs better training.  When I noticed they had a compassionate care payment option, I was told I would have needed to bring my financial proof to the emergency appointment.  No where on the website does it indicate this is an available option, what the initial appointment cost is (around $140, plus any additional appointment costs/labs), or that the person needs to bring proof with them (Industry standard is, i.e. Mission’s billing, has historically allowed people to apply for compassionate care after the emergency visit is conducted, and then gives 30 days to mail in the proof; if Mercy wants to offer this, they need to make sure people know they have to bring the proof with them to the appointment).  When I suggested this be added to the website, the front desk staffer (likely late 20 yr old), said “that’s not my job”, and she “did not know whose job it was”. I had to educate her it was her job as the point of contact for the public (“front desk”) to know where to point clients when they have a suggestion to improve access to the Mercy programs. She had a very disrespectful attitude (which I mirrored back because I’m too old for inept arrogance from people I am paying) in response to my request she run this suggestion up the pipeline.  She then gave me the phone number for an electric company when I asked for the phone number of the management person to speak with. I will not be returning to that Mercy in Weaverville. They truly need to better educate and enforce protocols that I suspect they already have developed regarding how suggestions made to the front desk should be communicated to management. This employee’s response was completely apathetic and disrespectful (bothered) by having to even hear the recommendation (as if her company didn’t need any improvement. Speaks to her investment in the success of the business). It did impact the initial response by the two medical providers I then met with, but after they realized I was rational, undramatic and looking for sincere medical help during an emergency poison ivy outbreak they became less defensive and more helpful).
