What patients are saying...

I made an appointment with a presenting complaint of acute, debilitating right shoulder pain and severely limited range of motion [suspected rotator cuff tear]. The receptionist and physician's assistant who helped me were kind and courteous but Dr. Park was incredibly dismissive, unprofessional, and disrespectful. He berated me for "waiting months to come in and then choosing the worst possible time, a holiday weekend." I explained that while I have experienced mild, manageable, intermittent pain in the right shoulder, this was different. I told both Dr. Park and his assistant that this was a ten on the pain scale for me and I could not function or sleep or move without excruciating pain. Dr. Park said this should have been addressed by an orthopedist and I informed him that I was already trying to schedule with an orthopedist for my back issues, but again, this happened very suddenly on the 30th and has only worsened. He said there was not much he could do for me because it was a holiday weekend. I told him I understood this and apologized for bothering him on a holiday weekend but I did not have a choice; I am experiencing pain so intense it makes me see spots and gag. He mentioned several more times that it was a holiday weekend. Radiographs were taken. Having them taken was so painful for me that I started to cry, but I continued to apologize for bothering them on a holiday weekend. I was fitted with a sling, prescribed steroids and pain medication, and sent on my way. Later, I read my visit summary. My chart notes state that the severity of my pain is "moderate" and so does my prescription label. The pain I am continuing to experience is far from moderate. I was very clear about this, using the pain scale that was provided, even though I was not asked how painful I was in the first place. Additionally, Dr. Park was unable to fully assess ROM due to the fact I was so painful I could not lift my arm or move it without forcibly using my other hand to manipulate it. I cannot turn my wrist, hold anything, scratch my leg, or even make a fist. The fact that positioning my arm to take effective radiographs brought me to tears should also have been indicative that I was in agony. I work in veterinary emergency and have worked every major holiday for the past fifteen-plus years. I would never have the audacity to berate any client, especially one in such an obvious state of distress, for "choosing to come in on a holiday weekend." People do not choose when to be injured. They do not have the luxury of scheduling illness or injury at a time that is going to be easy or convenient for a provider. His repeated statements about my unfortunate timing could have been attributed to professional regret about what he could perform diagnostically, except that he suggested I "waited months" to come in until now, which is false. His derision toward me negated even my ability to find the best in people. I think it is important to remember that how we deliver information to patients and clients is just as important as the information itself. Something he could have and should have had readily at his disposal was a modicum of compassion or respect, as this does not require the use of outside facilities or clinicians. Furthermore, nothing can excuse downplaying the severity of my pain in my medical report when it was expressed directly to him and involuntarily expressed nonverbally through body language and tears. I am not tone-deaf to the pandemic and how it has drained every medical professional to the dregs. I am part of that community and deeply appreciate that I was able to be seen at all — but this experience was so awful and dehumanizing, I will never visit this clinic again.

We waited for an hour in the waiting room and then another hour in the exam room before we saw the doctor. He walked in and said there’s nothing he could do to help, get some rest and he would write a doctors note. So we waited another 20 minutes and no one came so we got up to leave and found the two useless medical assistants playing on their phones. I told them I was waiting on a note from the doctor and they replied “oh yeah, it’s right here”. Worst experience at any doctors office EVER. This place is a joke with useless staff who should not be in the healthcare business. Avoid this place at all costs! The wait at legacy or Providence is worth it to avoid these unprofessional hacks.

Doc told me antibiotics are evil and kill people. Then he wrote me a prescription and told me not to take it.

Doctor didnt even spend two minutes with me befor diagnosing me. I felt like there was no care for the patient and the doctor was just quick to get me out. I’ve been coughing up blood and he told me I have a common cold with a cough. My wife went in for similar symptoms and the doctor told her she has a cold and did not give any prescriptions and told her she would be “fine” I would not recommend this place at all cost!
