So if you are reading this, then I hope that I come across as a reasonable person, and not some crazed keyboard warrior. If not, then I failed, because I do believe I am a reasonable person. I am a first responder, and take personal safety very seriously as a result of the hazards, illnesses, and threats I face on a fairly regular basis. I understand the need and the why of wearing personal protective equipment. I made a Doctor appointment with a Dr. Cyr from Sound Family Medicine a couple of weeks ago to address some issues that I think are associated with my blood sugar and maybe even diabetes. So I made an appointment to address these concerns. In addition, I have been having unusual chest pain/burning for the past week or so, so I was hoping to address this concern with Dr. Cyr as well. To my knowledge I have never seen Dr. Cyr, as she is not my regular Doctor. My regular Doctor was promoted to hospital administration, so I have been trying to find a new Doctor whom I trust and believe knows what they are doing. Upon check-in downstairs, I was informed to go upstairs as Dr, Cyr (downstairs receptionist referred to her as a she, otherwise I wouldn't have known appearance, race, sex, etc....was upstairs. I went upstairs and the receptionist was pleasant and asked for my $30.00 co-pay immediately. As she was checking me in she saw that I had used the word nausea upon describing my symptoms when I signed up for the appointment online. One word, nausea, nothing else. She said, "oh nausea, we are going to need you to wear a mask." I replied, "I am not sick, so I'm not going to wear a mask". She asked how long I've been nauseous, and I replied, "Months, I'm not sick now or nauseated now." Her tone changed immediately, as if it was a personal affront that I would tell her that I'm not going to do something. So of course, she went to the Doctor, for what I am assuming to complain that I refused to wear a mask. She then literally yelled out to me from the back hallway, to where I was sitting with two other patients in the waiting room. Literally yelled out my name, and said, "Dr. Cyr says you must wear a mask the entire time of your visit". Again, she yelled this out across the waiting room so everyone could hear. I stood up and said, "nope, I'm not wearing a mask, I'll see you guys later". When you go upstairs, you have to take an elevator, so I pushed the button and waited a few seconds for the elevator to open. She made no attempt to refund my co-pay. They may well believe that my showing up means I was seen, therefore my co-pay collection is legitimate. It may well be, and that's fine as far as I'm concerned, but I will say that there is documentation that I paid, but there will be no Doctor notes showing that I was seen. I went back downstairs and completed a form to have my medical records released, as I decided that I was much better off seeing a Doctor somewhere else. I question the reasoning and common sense of Dr. Cyr in making a power play about the wearing of the mask. There are plenty of scholarly articles discussing the effectiveness of masks depending upon type of hazard or contaminant present, the ppm of said hazard/contaminant, etc.... Nausea in and of itself should not be sole basis of Dr. Cyr making a decision that calls into question her expertise on any medical subject. Her desire to be the one in charge, and How Dare I tell her receptionist I will not wear a mask. That right there was the reason for her decision to insist upon me wearing a mask, not because there was a legitimate medical condition in which I may pose a risk to her, her personnel, or other patients. Now had she seen me and listened to my symptoms, I'm sure she would have agreed that a mask was unnecessary. Since she did not, it was very easy for me to see that she was not a Doctor that I needed to see, her expertise, common sense, reason, and decision making should all be put into question. I do not know about you, but those specific traits are important for a Doctor to possess, and if they don't possess them, then others should be notified of her stance. I won't be going back to Sound Family Medical again, I am going to encourage my family and friends to also consider not going back. There have been issues like this going back for years, that I will not bring up. Now that the Doctor that I really liked is no longer available, this was the final straw for me, so I will collect my records and go somewhere else. I just hope my chest pain is not too serious.....would have been nice to be seen by a common sensical Doctor if it is.

Ryan. Professional , very kind- but stern, no him-hawin around with his assessment, which displays confidence & is helpful to me as a patient. I was most definitely asked by Anna to satisfy the $30 balance that I was told to disregard yesterday on a conference call with Aetna my insurance. Thankyou Ryan

My appt was cancelled when I was on my way to the appt. There was appt for myself and my son back to back. I had to take time off from work and take my son out of school for the appt. The lady that called me said I could go to the walk in clinic. I asked if the clinic can do a follow up for me and a referral for my son for autism. She said yes. I get to the walk in clinic and I'm then told my son cannot be seen for his referral. This is unacceptable. The staff then said they couldn't get my son seen.
