My daughter visited with a sore throat, no voice, stuffy nose, and cough. She had been treating at home for days and was only getting worse. She went to urgent care because she was going out of town two days later. Both the nurse and the doctor/PA who spoke to her were rude, rushing, and basically dismissed her symptoms. They talked down to her and acted like she was wasting their time. She came home in tears with instructions to “drink warm tea.” TWO DAYS LATER she is crying in pain and has to find an urgent care center near her hotel. She has a “raging ear infection and anyone who looked would have seen it brewing if you have been symptomatic since last Sunday,” said the doctor at that center. She now has antibiotics. But, we have had to pay for two urgent care visits, and one is out of state, obviously out of network. If you don’t care about patients, don’t practice medicine and definitely don’t work in urgent care.
