Insurance holders beware. I was initially seen at the Pearland location, but billing is the same at all three locations. I had a tier 1 visit at the Pearland location earlier this year. I spent five minutes tops with the NP, and no additional testing/labs/in office medication were required. The front desk verified my insurance, but failed to inform me that my insurance was out of network ( Where I work we notify all out of network patients that they are subject to self pay pricing before administering care). For a visit that would have been $99 self pay, the clinic billed $275 to my insurance. I paid my $75 copay at my visit thinking any additional costs would be covered just like they have in the past at other clinics. Due to the out of network status, my insurance did not cover all of the visit, and I was left with an additional $86 dollar balance. This means I would pay more than a self pay price to use my insurance. I contacted the insurance company, who said the clinic could write off the additional balance. When I contacted the billing office for the clinic, they told me my insurance was wrong and misinformed me. The billing employee was unwilling to match the self pay price and made me pay the additional balance. I have now paid $161 for a $99 exam using my insurance. Just want to save some other potential patients who may be out of network from a big headache and extra expense. Make sure to ask the right questions, and consider another clinic who will provide good care and not take advantage to make a quick buck.
