Getting Tested for STDs in Plainfield, IL

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially if they have multiple partners or are not regularly using protection such as condoms. According to the CDC, it's recommended that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested for HIV at least once, and those with risk factors should get tested more frequently. People who have unprotected sex, have sex with multiple partners, or use intravenous drugs should get tested at least once a year. Pregnant women should also get tested for STDs to prevent potential transmission to their babies.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial in maintaining your health and the health of your partners. Many STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning they show no symptoms, so the only way to know if you have one is to get tested. Early detection and treatment can prevent long-term health complications such as infertility, cancer, and organ damage. Additionally, knowing your status can help prevent the spread of STDs to others.
