Who should get an HIV test?

Everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 should take an HIV test at least once in their lives. Some people are more likely to get HIV and should be tested more regularly. Those who have had sex with an HIV-positive partner, those who inject drugs, sexually active gay men, and those who have unprotected sex are all included. You should get checked every 6-12 months if you have any of these risk factors.

How do they test for HIV?

Antibodies created by your body in reaction to the virus are examined in HIV tests. A blood test or a sample of cells obtained from the inside of the cheek can be used to do this. After that, the sample is transported to a lab, where a technician will look for antibodies.

How long should I wait to get an HIV test?

It can take a long time for your body to build enough antibodies for an HIV test to detect the illness if you become sick. It may take 3-12 weeks for your blood to contain adequate antibodies. Even if you have HIV, you could have a negative test result during this time.

I scheduled an online visit for my teenage daughter with complete ease. From the moment we walked into the waiting room and then to the treatment room and again at our exit we were greeted by the kindest and professional staff. They were wonderful to us and very concerned about caring for my daughter and getting her what she needed. Our provider was especially kind and in depth with her medical care. I was able to choose a Quest lab location and schedule an appointment. Check in was easy, and I only needed to provide my name and DOB. They were able to locate my order in their system. They were already aware that my labs were paid for prior to the appointment. I had my labs done on a Wednesday, and I received my results by Saturday. Great experience.
