Came in with chest pain and short of breath.  Was seen with very little wait time.  Waited very little in exam room. Each staff member seemed to care about me and their job.  Was a very good experience.

A great experience for something I had a lot of anxiety about. Had no wait time or issues at the testing center/lab. Had blood drawn at 3pm and had results by email at 9am the next morning.

Sparkling Clean

I discovered on a Friday night that I had symptoms that might be shingles. I arrived at Medcenter North at 9 am the next morning and saw the doctor shortly after checking in. He confirmed my suspicions and started treatment immediately (which was important since I was leaving town the next day). I have used Medcenter North frequently in the past and have always found the doctors and staff to be friendly, knowledgeable and professional.

I had a Covid test a few months ago. The nurses were organized, friendly, and prepared. I filled out paperwork in my car and waited about 45 minutes to be able to drive up and get my nasal swab. The nurse who did my test was calm and the process was painless. She inserted the swap in my nasal cavity and gently swirled the swab to get a sample. No jabbing and she took her time and was careful not to hurt me. I would completely recommend First Care for a Covid test.

Hannah, CRNP was great and the MA was very nice also. The front desk clerk (Jasmine?) could use some communication skills. Walked in at 5:15pm, four people waiting in front of me. I was told that I couldn’t get a covid test because it was too late (almost insinuated that I leave) … wasn’t there for a covid test, just wanted to be seen. They closed at 8pm. At least two people were turned down to be seen after me… not sure why if they didn’t close until 8. As an affiliate employee of HH, I was confused by what was going on and why people were being turned away at such an early time. Maybe there was more behind the scenes that I didn’t see, I sure hope so.

Scheduled an appointment for 8:40am and it told me to arrive at 8:25am and check in so I did. I went inside and informed them I was there and they didn’t take me back until around 9:15am and other walk-ins were taken back before me so I was a little frustrated with that but the staffs friendliness made up for the long wait time. I was scared to get a Covid test because I still thought they went up into your brain with it and Heather was super nice and informed me that all they had to do was go in my nostrils and my anxiety went way down. She was kind and courteous and very efficient so I was stoked about that. Definitely the nicest nurse I’ve ever had. Dr Jill Howard was incredible and just as efficient and kind. Any other issues I have I will definitely be going to those guys! The fact that you can schedule an appointment via an app and then check in that way is another huge bonus and another reason why I would choose them over other businesses.

Katie our MA was super sweets she did the Covid and strep swab on my daughter and was very gentle! Nurse Practitioner Kelly was kind and explained full well my daughters positive strep test!

This place is the best based on my experience. My parents were required to take a PCR test of COVID19 for their international travel, and this place helped us a lot. Even very late at night, I was able to keep in contact with this place. Also, at the airport, they did not have any issues with traveling.

We were both sick on New Year’s Day. Lots of sick people, and no one wants to go to the ER. My sore throat was bad enough for me to worry about strep. Our regular urgent care facility was closed without any announcement. We stopped at two other facilities and saw long lines and hopeless faces. When I walked into your facility, it was crowded, as was the parking lot. Nevada, the receptionist, was friendly and unperturbed. She told us we could fill out papers in our car. When I asked about the wait, she said 3 hours, but somehow I believed your facility was worth the wait. We went home close by, checked in twice, and then Nevada told us to come in. We were in the lobby a short while, sat in the exam room a while, met a nice nurse, got tested for strep, met Cindy the Nurse Practitioner, got happy results, and went home. Keep up the good work. Do whatever you need to do to keep such cheerful staff on a holiday!

9 yr old tested positive for COVID-19. Tested and X-rays and instructions were good.

We have been here about a handful of times and each time their service is superb. They‘re friendly, explain issues and treatments so everyone (incl. my six-year-old) understands them and the wait time is not long. Our appointment was at 2:10. They texted us to come in from the parking lot at 2:05 and we were seen within about 5 minutes. Today, my little one did not want to get swabbed for testing (mouth and nose). Understandably so cause let‘s face it, who likes for someone to seemingly poke your brain through your nose… Anyway, the workers did not threaten or get frustrated (or at least not that I could tell ☺️). She gave us a moment alone and then came back with help and introduced her as a super helper or something. I can just say „wow!“ I was impressed and grateful I didn‘t have to deal with it by myself. They got the swab. It was a success! Thanks for being helpful, friendly and prompt. I would definitely visit them again.

This place is the best based on my experience. My parents were required to take PCR test of Covid19 for international travel, and this place help us a lot. Even very late at night, I was able to keep in contact and get response. At the airport, there was no issue once my parents provided copy of test as well.

Check in staff and my nurse was great that Dr I had today was less than kind and needs to work on her attitude and the way she comes across I understand during these times the Heath care staff deals with a lot but if the people checking you in and the nurses who are doing ALL the grunt work like getting the Covid test blood work etc and they can still be kind and have a good attitude so can the Dr who just has to come in and say self isolate until we get your results. I felt like I was a burden to the Dr vs a patient.

Very efficient for Covid test Staff very friendly and professional

Did a rapid covid check. Very pleased with time it took to test and receive results.

Overall the visit went well. However, and probably something that may not be addressed, but I’ll mention it anyway. Several folks showed up 30-45 minutes early to get tested for possible COVID-19, but only minutes before the doors were open, a young lady drove up and jumped out and went in first, causing friction among her and others who waited patiently outside. Had this been a guy that did this and he was confronted, things could have escalated into a more serious event, as tempers were high. Maybe a sign stating first come first serve could be placed on the front door.

We had a wonderful experience. We got to reserve a time on a Saturday of a holiday weekend. Testing and screening were super fast. Loved our MA and NP all were thorough. They explained everything and were very nice. I would recommend to anyone!!

After reading a few reviews online, I was a little nervous but everyone was incredibly friendly and easy to work with! I know for a fact this is a very busy time for them (literally the highest COVID numbers ever) and I was blown away by how nice everyone was. I am an adult that just needed a Covid test and from my phone call to ask how to do it, to the front desk staff, to the staff in the back, they were all amazing. The nurse that did my swab noticed my nose was bleeding (of no fault of hers! It was the cold dry weather) and she was so sweet to make sure I was ok.

The NP we spoke with was helpful and had lots of recommendations like going for testing, etc. I'm chosing to keep an eye on my daughter for now since she's been over 12 hours without her fever now without the help of fever reducers, is eating and drinking normal and acting herself at this time. But the NP was receptive and wanted to be sure I knew what I can do based off the symptoms I reported that have been happening over the last two days. She made my daughter laugh too. I'm happy with the call and service.

I can not use the patient portal link and there is no text from them only an email that is sending me to a dead end. I will have to call the location Monday. No I will not recommend people to a place where they can not find out results for tests. As I entered I was wondering why the person at the from desk was giving someone results on the phone loudly, now I understand. We are all sick at my house and this is just another problem I do not need.

Dr and staff were fantastic and sweet! Had to swab my daughters nose two times because the first test came back inconclusive, but they brought her Apple juice and cookies to make it better

This was my first time visiting Urgent Care and I must say the staff was wonderful. My son was a walk-in but was called in within less than an hour. I had to get him a COVID test because of exposure at school but thank God everything was fine. I can’t remember her name but the technician whom administered the test was so nice to listen to my concerns and vent about school opening. Ms. Chinule Efuribe was wonderful also. Thank you Urgent Care for your kindness and patience

Tuscaloosa Lab Tests

Lab tests take samples of your blood, urine, saliva, and other bodily secretions, which are then analyzed in a lab to help doctors diagnose and treat certain illnesses. Lab tests can be used to diagnose an illness, detect changes in an existing condition, and monitor how your body responds to a therapy, among other things. They can also be used to monitor the progression of a disease or a set of diseases.

If your doctor is unable to make a definitive diagnosis of your disease, or if you are having a variety of symptoms that could indicate a variety of disorders, he or she may request a lab test. Some lab tests require no preparation at all, while others may require you to fast for eight to twelve hours before the test in order to avoid erroneous results from certain meals and beverages. Your healthcare provider may advise you to cease smoking, exercising, and taking certain medications and nutritional supplements for many hours or days before your blood test.

Before your lab test, ask your doctor for precise instructions to follow to minimize erroneous results and multiple trips to the lab for additional testing. A lab worker may use a needle to draw blood from your arm or prick your finger to collect a small sample of blood during a blood test. During a urine test, your physician will ask you to go to the restroom and urinate in a sterile cup, then set your sample on a shelf where a lab technician can pick it up and process it. The personnel at the lab testing facility will demonstrate how to do each type of test.
