I’ve had a cough for about 6 weeks. Decided today I’d had enough. Went to AFC Montclair.  The receptionist was as very friendly and sign in was relatively easy. Not much of a wait time. Triage nurse was friendly and got vitals quickly. Didn’t wait long at all when nurse practitioner came in. She ordered the necessary tests and they were done timely and the technician/nurses was very friendly. Had to wait just a little bit for tests results but not too long. Nurse practitioner came in and told me the results and ordered meds. Before I left, pharmacy notified me they received the med orders. I’ve us s this AFC for a long time and i will continue to do so.

Staff were friendly. I was there a long time despite only one person ahead of me. Spent about 45 minutes in waiting room. Once I was in a room, provider was in within 2 minutes. But then took another 30-45 mins for them to prep the shots. Overall, I think it’s faster than it has been previously.

Woman at the front desk yelled at me to speak up because she couldn't hear me and repeatedly shouted at me for my name instead of asking and later had to be berated by another member of staff to stop shouting. Everyone else was lovely but some manners could be implemented for some staff

I’m extremely impressed by our experience here. We were in and out within an hour which means the world to me. My daughter injured her elbow and we were told to try urgent care rather than the ED. I honestly thought UC would send us to the ED anyway but they did not. The doctor and staff swiftly took my daughter to the back, took X-rays and diagnosed her in about an hour. My daughter has special needs therefore any time I can avoid the ED is beneficial to her and our family. The staff impressed me so much with the way they treated her and tended to her elbow as well as her special needs. Our general experience within the medical field is that the staff gets easily frustrated with my daughter because of her autism, they do as little as possible so they don’t “traumatize” her and quickly send us on our way without answers. This was not at all the experience we had at Urgent Care for Children in Vestavia. I’m so grateful to the staff and doctors here. Anything to avoid an ED visit during this time and due to my daughter’s special needs makes our lives a little bit easier. I would happily recommend this place for anyone in need of a pediatric urgent care visit.

We were both sick on New Year’s Day. Lots of sick people, and no one wants to go to the ER. My sore throat was bad enough for me to worry about strep. Our regular urgent care facility was closed without any announcement. We stopped at two other facilities and saw long lines and hopeless faces. When I walked into your facility, it was crowded, as was the parking lot. Nevada, the receptionist, was friendly and unperturbed. She told us we could fill out papers in our car. When I asked about the wait, she said 3 hours, but somehow I believed your facility was worth the wait. We went home close by, checked in twice, and then Nevada told us to come in. We were in the lobby a short while, sat in the exam room a while, met a nice nurse, got tested for strep, met Cindy the Nurse Practitioner, got happy results, and went home. Keep up the good work. Do whatever you need to do to keep such cheerful staff on a holiday!

I was in town for a visit with family, and my daughter busted her chin open on the edge of a swimming pool. We chose to come to Urgent Care for Children as an alternative to the ER. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly even though it was 10 minutes before closing time and in the middle of a pandemic. Every single staff member we came in contact greeted us as if we were the first patient of the day. They were amazingly patient and warm toward my daughter. We were even able to avoid stitches, and instead she was patched up with a little glue and some steri strips. We couldn’t be happier with how things went. It was definitely the most traumatic thing to have ever happened to my daughter in her short six years of life, and could have turned into an even worse night spent in the ER. Thankfully, our evening had a much happier ending and my daughter left smiling and laughing.

I was so impressed with the front desk personnel, Alexis. She went above and beyond to prevent the spread of germs during this flu season. I visited ater during the day and once the waiting room cleared out, she cleaned and sanitized the entire waiting room. I saw her wipe down each chair arm, seat, pens, water fountains, counter top, and door handles. I know that the facility has housekeeping or cleaners, but she keep this facility clean and as germ free as possible. I would definitely visit again and refer others here. I was skeptical to visit an urgent care facility because in the past I have left with conditions I didnt go in with. I was in so much pain that I decided to try my luck and be seen. I was very comfortable being seen here thanks to Alexis Ray.

Knowledgeable staff and clean facility. We were there for 2 1/2 hours but my daughter's pediatrician couldn't see her for another 2 days because they were booked up. The wait felt like forever, but considering the long line of patients the urgent care had, the wait time was actually a lot less than expected. Our nurse and nurse practitioner were very kind and knowledgeable. My one and only complaint is that the nurse and nurse practitioner both told my daughter they'd bring her a popsicle for being so good, but neither ever did. Which I understand, they were crazy busy, but come on, don't tell a kid you'll get them a popsicle and not deliver!

Today was our first time coming to Urgent Care for Children and I am giving them 5 STARS! I only gave 3 stars for the wait time but in all honesty it did not bother me because Dr. Brandy was very informative and took time to not rush through just to get us “in and out”. Dr. Brandy definitely cares about her patients and wants them to be treated with proper care and treatments. She answered all of our questions and explained everything so well. She really took her time with us and for that I am grateful. The staff was very nice and helped make sure my child was comfortable.

I felt that the wait time for my appointment was rather long considering I had an appointment. It took over 2 hours for me to be seen. However, I understand this is largely out of the staff control, and apart from that I had one of my best experiences at this urgent care tonight. The doctors who I interacted with were thorough and asked me several questions to help develop a course of treatment as well as next steps if my symptoms don’t improve. Usually at this urgent care I feel like I’m in and out with no real benefit, but tonight was different and I had a great experience.

Urgent Care had opened the facility to Covid vaccinations. I advised the staff of JSR' Temperament & phobia toward lab coats, scrubs and needles. Staff agreed to make the effort to inoculate. True to form Jeremy made every effort to flee by passive resistance. The two staffers persisted in a non aggressive manner and very sensitive to Jeremy's fright. Jeremy then gravited to a corner which allowed staff and parents the ability to administer the vaccination. Thanks again to the staff and their professionalism in interacting with a Down's syndrome patient with intellectual and developmental disability which slows his comprehension of events. Thanks from Mom and Dad.

Medcenter northriver is a truly FANTASTIC addition to the already reliable and professional "Medcenter franchise that has been serving the west Alabama area for years now. Th physicians, nurse practioners and nursing staff are all supremely knowledgeable and courteous. My wife and I, as well as our children, have all been treated as the newest facilty (on Rice Mine Road) and enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who needs an urgent care visit or simply a primary care appointment. I feel very fortunate to have this facility so conveniently located and so expertly staffed. I recommend MedCenter NorthRiver unconditionally and with no reservations whatsoever!!

This was my first time visiting Urgent Care and I must say the staff was wonderful. My son was a walk-in but was called in within less than an hour. I had to get him a COVID test because of exposure at school but thank God everything was fine. I can’t remember her name but the technician whom administered the test was so nice to listen to my concerns and vent about school opening. Ms. Chinule Efuribe was wonderful also. Thank you Urgent Care for your kindness and patience

Best experience ever in a doctor's office. Holy cow it was great. Not a single bad thing to say. I paid for a visit at another office and it was horrible. So I needed to find another doctor that could help me so I decided to go to Huntsville hospital urgent care and they were amazing. Made me forget all about the wasted $175 I just spent at another office that I received no care for. This will be my go to doctor for now on.

I am pleased to report my total satisfaction with the care I received. I had an injury to my foot that was a couple of days old and had become very painful. I called the urgent care facility and was told I could come in and be seen in spite of the pandemic. My wait time was very short considering I did not have an appointment. The entire staff was very friendly, cordial and professional. I will certainly recommend this facility for urgent care.

This was our first time using children urgent care an I have to say it was the best first experience! The whole staff was absolutely amazing. Our way time was non existence as they got us right back after I paid my co pay. The way they took there time to help figure out what was going on with my little girl just ment the world to me. They genuinely cared. I highly recommend Childrens Urgent Care of Madison

We were on vacation when our kiddo got sick. This momma had a lot of nerves about going to an urgent care we knew nothing about. From the second we got in the door we were treated with compassion and kindness. We were treated by a knowledgeable staff and made to feel at ease. We had efficient service with a quick diagnosis and treatment plan. We are so happy we found UC4C to take our little one to.

I came in with an earache and the staff was amazing! The young lady at the front desk was so kind and helpful, she really made me feel comfortable and welcome! I was quickly brought to a room, the medical staff was professional and efficient. I felt like my concerns were heard and I was given a solid plan of care with education on what to expect at home. I would highly recommend HH Urgent Care to anyone.

I would definitely recommend urgent care for kids in vestavia! They were super friendly! Dr. Anderson was very sweet and patient with my son! Wait time was not long. Our overall visit was about 2 hours so that beats waiting at Children’s! Thank you so much for the great experience! Hopefully we won’t have to have another visit on the weekend but if we do I would come back to this location!

I was checked for flu and COVID. For many years I have only trusted the doctors at Murfreesboro VA hospital in TN. I feel as though I can trust the doctor and the staff at the urgent care facility in Florence, AL. They were very considerate of my needs. They were also very professional and friendly at the same time and that is something to be proud of at this time.

Great care for my son today, per usual when I've brought him here before! So glad there is an urgent care JUST FOR CHILDREN where they don't have to wait for hours for their turn to be seen. The snacks, coloring, drinks etc are such a nice touch for the kids too. Great staff. Would recommend and will come back next time my toddler needs care outside of his pediatrician.

Urgent Care in Alabama

Alabama has about 1.2 million adults with obesity. In fact, according to America's Healthcare Rankings, 33 percent of the population was considered obese in 2011. This along with other healthcare issues including smoking, chronic diseases such as diabetes, and a high infant mortality rate, the state carries an unfortunately low ranking in most national healthcare statistics, ranking at least 41st out of 50 in the top six categories.

Urgent Care in Alabama

There are very few urgent care centers in the state. In fact, this is one of the main problems that Alabama faces when it comes to getting quality medical care. In 2012 there were about 80 preventable hospitalizations per 1000 people discharged from emergency rooms. Many of those who seek emergency care would be better helped at an urgent care center. Urgent care centers are equipped to help those with illnesses or injuries that are not life-threatening.

Walk-in Clinics in Alabama

Luckily, Alabama has a number of walk-in clinics for patients who need to be seen the same day. These clinics allow patients to get care for mild to moderate injuries and illnesses. In addition, some walk-in clinics in the state offer help to those who need primary care physicians. About 15 percent of the population of the state is uninsured, and having access to the more cost-effective option of a walk-in clinic is essential.

Healthcare in Alabama

There are a number of factors that lead to Alabama being ranked 45th in the country for healthcare. In addition to the high percentage of adults with obesity, about 24 percent of adults also smoke, leading to health problems. As people experience injury or sickness that needs to be addressed immediately, they have few options available to them. Some of this is due to the rural nature of the state, as well as the lack of sufficient urgent care facilities.

Specific urgent care and walk-in clinic services available in may include STD testing flu shots, school physicals and many other valuable services

Urgent Care FAQs

  • How much will an urgent care visit in Alabama cost?

The price charged at an urgent care, whether in Alabama or elsewhere, will be based on the location, and there are no actual standard costs between the clinics. Assuming you are paying with cash, you might come across an urgent clinic that charges you $50 while another situated some mile away charges you $100 for the same services. The standard cost in urgent care where insurance cover is not involved ranges from $100 to $125. This price is generally the standard price of a visit before extra services. There are a couple of additional care services that could make your appointment to an urgent care costly including x-rays and lab tests, medications and injections (such as immunization), casting broken bones, as well as stitches and splints. If you have a viable insurance plan in place, the standard pay will be between $20 – 50 depending on your insurance coverage and whether you are in contact with the provider.

  • Are Alabama urgent care centers open after hours?

Most primary care doctor offices are open during routine work hours, Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Typical urgent care hours are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily, although location-specific hours may vary.

  • Do urgent care centers in Alabama take appointments?

Historically, urgent care centers were strictly an on-demand, walk-in healthcare service mode. More recently, as consumer behaviors and expectations have evolved, many urgent care clinics have begun offering book ahead visits, allowing consumers to select a same-day or next-day time that works best for their schedule. • What is the best urgent care center in Alabama?

While it would be easy to provide a list of urgent care centers in and around Alabama, 'best' is a challenging term to qualify. • What is Urgent Care?

Urgent care is available to assist patients that are looking for immediate, convenient medical care. In that manner, they are similar to an emergency room. The difference, however, is that ERs are meant to treat major, life-threatening injuries and illnesses while urgent care centers manage life’s minor bruises and bumps. In simple terms, an urgent care is seen as a walk-in health center that focuses in offering non-emergent health care conditions, including the treatment of the typical illnesses and injuries such as fractures and sprains, cuts and burns, scrapes, stings and bites, flu and cold symptoms, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, and much more. Most urgent care facilities offer both diagnostic and preventive care such as well visits, immunizations, STD testing and annual physicals. For regular visits and check-ups on these clinics, you should expect to pay between $20 and $100. The good thing is that most urgent care clinics will accept major PPOs and insurance cover, Medicare, as well as self-pay in the form of credit cards or cash. Urgent care clinics are located in most parts of the country in various regions to offset emergency room visits and provide a gap in healthcare services. They take patients during all hours of operations, which offer a significant convenience to most people who have and continue to undergo the need for sudden and immediate medical attention.
