All of the staff were friendly and cordial. They showed a genuine concern about my situation and listened to me about my situation. They helped me with my medical problems better than any specialist that I've gone to. I will definitely use their services again. Great experience with this facility and staff.

Urgent care
Made appt and waited about an hour after that time to be seen. NP did not seem interested in prescribing meds for my kids who were coughing up brown phlegm and have had audible bubbling/crackling when they lie down. I asked—am I confused? Is coughing up brown not an indicator that they need antibiotics? She confirmed that it is, but not in their case because “they’ve been coughing for so long.” Make it make sense. Staff super friendly and efficient. Will not go back because of quality of medical care.

Urgent care
My adult son has a lot of medical issues which is why we always have to visit urgent care facilities when we travel .   This is the best care we have even gotten for him .  For starters every one had a smile on their face ! They helped us find a pharmacy close to our hotel .   Even his regular doctor doesn’t asks him so many question or even listen to him .  We will definitely go to next care next time we are in town and need help !

Urgent Care in Mesa, AZ

Mesa is the third-largest city in Arizona and the population center of Maricopa County's East Valley, with a healthcare landscape dominated by Banner Health — Banner Desert Medical Center and the adjacent Cardon Children's Medical Center anchor regional emergency and pediatric care. Urgent care fills the gap between primary care and Banner's busy ERs across Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, and Apache Junction.

How long are urgent care wait times in Mesa compared to the ER?

Urgent care wait times in Mesa typically run 15 to 45 minutes for walk-ins, with same-day or next-hour appointments available at most clinics through Solv. Banner Desert Medical Center's emergency department, by contrast, frequently exceeds two to three hours for non-trauma patients during peak East Valley demand. Mesa urgent care clinics handle the conditions Banner's ER triages as low-acuity — strep, UTIs, sprains, sutures, dehydration — at roughly one-tenth the cost of an ER visit.

What services do Mesa urgent care clinics offer?

Mesa urgent care clinics treat acute illnesses and minor injuries that don't require ER-level resources. Services include strep throat and influenza testing, COVID-19 testing, ear and sinus infections, urinary tract infections, sprains and fractures with on-site X-ray, laceration repair, allergic reactions, mild asthma exacerbations, and IV fluids for dehydration. Major Mesa-area providers include NextCare Urgent Care (multiple East Valley locations), Banner Urgent Care (Banner Health's clinic network spanning Mesa, Gilbert, and Apache Junction), and FastMed Urgent Care. Many clinics also offer occupational health, DOT physicals, and pre-employment drug screens — important in a city with a large logistics, manufacturing, and aerospace workforce.

Does urgent care in Mesa accept AHCCCS?

Yes. AHCCCS — Arizona's Medicaid program — is widely accepted across Mesa urgent care networks. Banner University Family Care, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, Mercy Care, and other AHCCCS Complete Care plans contract with most major urgent care groups in the East Valley, including NextCare and Banner Urgent Care. AHCCCS covers urgent care visits with no copay for most members. Confirm acceptance of your specific plan when booking through Solv — coverage varies by clinic, especially for AHCCCS Long Term Care members.

What insurance do Mesa urgent care clinics accept?

Most Mesa urgent care clinics accept Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Medicare, and AHCCCS Medicaid plans. Self-pay patients without insurance can typically expect $125 to $200 for a basic visit. Some chains, including NextCare, offer membership discount programs that reduce out-of-pocket cost for uninsured patients. Always verify your plan's network and copay before the visit using Solv's filtering tools.

When should I go to urgent care in Mesa instead of the ER?

Choose urgent care for non-life-threatening conditions: cuts requiring stitches, suspected sprains or simple fractures, fever without confusion, mild to moderate asthma symptoms, dehydration from heat exposure, animal bites without major bleeding, eye irritation, and minor burns. Go directly to Banner Desert Medical Center, Banner Baywood, or Mountain Vista Medical Center — or call 911 — for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe trauma, severe abdominal pain, head injuries with loss of consciousness, severe shortness of breath, or any condition that may require admission or imaging beyond X-ray. Heat-related emergencies are particularly common in Mesa during summer months — heat stroke (high body temp with confusion or unconsciousness) is always an ER-level event, while early heat exhaustion can often be managed at urgent care.
