Omg so so good!! I first went to Waikiki to a 5 star yelp review clinic it was called Doctors of Waikiki. They wanted 400.00 to see a Dr.!! I left and als I had to pay the stupid parking on top of that. So I googled and this Kakaako clinic came up. “Island urgent Care.” I called it was Veterans Day and they were OPEN!! Yay!! They took me right away and in no time I was seen by a wonderful Dr. Kauhane! He was kind, efficient, nice bed side manner and actually cares ! It also was a great price, I will be going there from now on!! Front desk Chanelle was cool and the nurse who took me in the back was gracious.

Recent Lab Tests Reviews (20)

I had a rapid Covid test on 8/19/21, my birthday, at the site behind Ace hardware Kihei. I got a call back about 3 hours later from a young lady, believe her name was Kate. She informed that I tested positive and to quarantine myself for the next 10 days and if my symptoms got worse to call for further medical help. 10 minutes later she called back and apologized saying after reviewing my file further she saw that I might be eligible for a Special treatment for over 65ers and if i was interested she would set me up with a video appointment with a doctor to discuss further. I told her I would think about it. 20 minutes later I called her # back and of course it went to a message for MMUC and gave me a # to call to get help. I called the number and after getting to the third prompt I got a call from the original number and it was Kate(?) asking if I tried to call back to which said yes that I wanted to to talk to a doctor. While on the phone with her she set me up with video appointment 1 1/2 hrs later. My appointment was at 4:20 with Dr. Michael Jackowitz. He asked some questions, did some calculations, filled out a form and said he would send it over to the hospital put that I probably wouldn't hear back till sometime Friday after he talked to his contact at the hospital to which I thanked him. 2 hrs later Maui Memorial hospital called me back with an appointment for the next day to receive the Monoclonal antibody treatment which I did receive Friday 8/20/21. Beginning this morning I have been pain free and fever free and my other symptoms are diminishing. Because the young lady that called me to give me my results and then call back not once but twice then Dr. Jackowitz took the time from his busy day to fill out a form and apparently push it through an overloaded system, I received my best birthday present ever, better health and Hope and for those I will be forever grateful to both of these special people. Thank you Minut Medical for hiring people who care. God Bless you all, David Flemming

My first experience with urgent care was not a good one. One of my kids had knee surgery on Friday, but his pain medicine was ineffective, so I went to urgent care and waited two hours to see the doctor only to find out that urgent care does not prescribe narcotics. I was very angry because I wasted two hours keeping my kid in pain. Subsequent visits were wonderful. It’s convenient to go to urgent care and Kapolei, so I don’t have to drive all the way into town for a sick note for work. I had to go for Covid testing and each time the star was efficient. I had to take one of my kids in for testing for Covid, and although we had to wait because it was crowded, it was a good visit. The wait is par with any other ER or doctors office. It’s difficult to keep a kid in pain, but I don’t blame urgent care for this. I’m sure every medical clinic, doctors office, ER, and urgent care has to deal with drug seekers. I am very thankful for urgent care, and I respect the people who work there there

I went to the Kahului clinic. I do highly recommend this clinic. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. This is the second visit here in the last 2 years. Definitely go here if you need urgent care but are unable to go to your regular doctor or don’t feel it requires going to the hospital. The only thing I was not satisfied with was the wait time. First it took 1 hr just to see me then another 1 & 1/2 hours after I was taken back to the exam room. I can sympathize with their increasing work load due to Covid but I believe after my tests were done they just forgot about me. I had to literally go look for someone to come back to my exam room after waiting 30 minutes for a test they said took 15 minutes. Sorry I usually don’t do these reviews. I still recommend them highly, just was disappointed with my wait time.

Booking process was confusing being Canadian, it won’t take our address given we use a postal code vs a zip code, and it doesn’t allow for our provinces along with your states, so we have to use a US state and fake zip code to complete the booking. We had to get up at 12:01 am to get a COVID booking time, which suggests Maui generally is not equipped for the surge of tourists requiring these tests to travel. Given it is likely Canadians for the most part requiring these tests, some alternations to your website/booking process would make it much easier. Other than that, when we finally arrived the process was excellent, reason and the turn around time probably the best in Maui vs what I have heard with the other providers.

After a lot of stress trying to find a place on West Maui Island to do COVID-19 Molecular tests with the ability to get a test result back in less than 72 hours (Canadian requirement) was impossible as everyone else said they couldn’t guaranteed getting results back prior to 48 hours with the only available time frame for testing of less than 36 hours before flight was scary. Found Doctors on Call, booked an appointment online (68 hours before I fly), got to the office at my scheduled appointment and 15 minutes later had my test results in-hand. Thank you so much!!!

The staff are friendly and professional, of course. Just wish the state of Hawaii had a better system with regard to Covid testing. Their Safe Travels website/app is not at all clear about when/where new tests are required. (This is our THIRD rapid test since arriving in the state, on Feb. 28!) We've now had to spend over $1,300 for testing alone! It's beginning to feel very much like a racket, a state-wide version of a speed trap. Will likely have to cut our extended trip in the state short, due to all this nonsense.

We had such a positive experience at this facility. The woman at the front desk was so kind as we were scrambling to get COVID tests before our flight. I’m sorry I don’t think I got her name, but she was so very kind and professional. She was working around 10 am on 5/9. Mackenzie gave us our covid tests and she was also extremely kind and quick as we were in a rush to get our tests before our flight. Thank you both for your help. You truly saved us!

Reason for my call was to get retested for covid19 as recommended by my PCP. My PCP could place an order for Pali Momi testing location, however, I selected urgent care for its convenient location of Kapolei. The doctor during my virtual call was hesitant in approving my test and questioned my PCP, but ended up allowing the test. I felt as if there was push back and I was not satisfied as I believe during this pandemic, access to testing should be easy.

I chose this clinic because it was 5 minutes from our condo. Came in and everyone was very pleasant from the moment I came in to the moment I left. The overall time I was in there was probably 45 minutes or so and that included the video chat with the provider and the ordered tests. They made sure I was well taken care of during the entire visit. I would definitely recommend this urgent care to anyone in the Waikiki area.

Staff was friendly. The nurse was professional and knew her stuff. The PA was helpful and answered all my questions. She tested in office with feeling the area and asked me lots of questions. Both the nurse and PA listened mindfully. Took time with me and didn’t feel rushed. It wasn’t busy when I first got there. She referred me for an ultra sound and x-Ray which I requested. I left with a compression wrap around my knee. It helped.

Excellent assistance with our Rapid Covid PCR test. We booked the tests online. We had zero wait time. The lady administering the test was gentle and explanatory during the whole process. We got our results back in hours. A little pricey at $200 per test but worth it for the peace of mind that rapid results bring. We needed this specific test to fly from Maui to Canada and the test results were easily recognized by the border patrol.

There was 6 of us getting CoVid testing to get back to Canada. The staff were great with the all of us and expect with the children. I wish we could have booked our appointments when we got here 2 weeks ago but the CoVid testing site would only let you book 24 hours in advance. I got up at midnight to book our appointments go the Friday.

The person that helped me was cordial and professional. Although I have taken the test before at another location, and with the exception of no line of cars before me, the check-in process mirrored my other visit. The information to confirm my identity and meeting time was promptly and politely requested upon arrival. Also, every part of the procedure was clearly explained prior to each action.

The staff as always were friendly professional and caring! They answered questions and were helpful and insightful. The wait time was little to none. My daughter was a little nervous to get her covid test done but they nurse was so kind and patient to her! Talked her through the whole process to help calm her down! Thank you minit medical team!

For an unpleasant experience they definitely made it great. We are flying home to Canada and got our tests done here. They are very organized and knowledgeable. Their security guard is amazing and helping everyone that comes over. We booked our appointments and they were slightly behind but the fact that you get your results while you wait there(20ish min) is great!

Having to get a Covid test to reenter Canada is a stressful experience, but doctors on call made it so much easier. They were on time and gave quick results. Booking the appt online was very convenient. The cost was more than some other clinics, but getting the results within 15 min rather than 24 hours made it worthwhile. Thank you

I’m so new to setting up appointments and scheduling stuff by myself but with the help that I got from two different women, can’t remember their names, they answered all my questions and made it much easier to answer what I was looking for. Helped me set up a different appointment and to get the right tests that I needed.

Very professional, even with a rapid COVID test. New patient got me in and out in an hour, even with the new patient paperwork and the COVID test. Assuming the cost of the COVID test was covered by insurance as my co-pay was the usual. Here on vacation and the experience was as painless as it could have been.

The surge rapid Covid testing event was excellent. I made an appointment the day before and received a text reminder today. I drove up for the appointment, they verified my name/birthdate and then did the nasal swab. In and done in about 2 minutes. I received a text with link to my results 3 hours later. Awesome crew!!!

The security liaison/welcome worker was amazing! He was so patient and helpful with all the people who came thinking that it was a drop in for the travel test. The nurses were also very efficient and nice too, even when there was a guy who came that didn’t want to wear a mask 😡. Mahalo nui loa!!

Lab Testing in Hawaii

Lab tests gather samples of your blood, urine, saliva, and other biological secretions, which are then evaluated in a lab to assist doctors in diagnosing and treating specific health disorders. Lab tests can be used for a variety of purposes, including diagnosing an illness, detecting changes in an existing condition, and assessing how your body responds to a therapy. They can also be used to track the progression of an illness or a group of disorders.

If your healthcare provider is unable to diagnose your condition decisively or if you are experiencing a variety of symptoms that could indicate any number of disorders, he or she may prescribe a lab test. Lab tests may be conducted to see how you're responding to a drug or to see if you're at risk for certain diseases.

Some lab tests require no preparation at all, while others may require you to fast for eight to twelve hours prior to the test in order to avoid particular foods and beverages giving erroneous findings. For several hours or days before your lab test, your healthcare professional may urge you to stop smoking, exercising, and taking certain medications and nutritional supplements.

To avoid erroneous findings and several trips to the lab for additional testing, ask your doctor for specific recommendations to follow before your lab test.To avoid erroneous findings and several trips to the lab for additional testing, ask your doctor for specific recommendations to follow before your lab test.

During a blood test, the lab technician may use a needle to draw blood from your arm or prick your finger to collect a small sample of blood. During a urine test, your provider will instruct you to go to the restroom and urinate in a sterile cup, then place your sample on a shelf where it can be picked up and processed by a lab worker. The lab testing facility's personnel will show you how to execute each sort of test.

Following the receipt of your test results, your doctor may call you to discuss them or to schedule an appointment. Your doctor will explain your results to you and, if required, discuss treatment choices with you.
