I was able to schedule the appointment on Saturday night, even though the office was closed, through an on line system. You can even take a photo copy of your medical insurance card through the computer system. The nurse greeted and placed me in a room. The physician was thorough and patient as she evaluated my medical situation. I highly recommend this medical service.

A great experience for something I had a lot of anxiety about. Had no wait time or issues at the testing center/lab. Had blood drawn at 3pm and had results by email at 9am the next morning.

Overview of STD Testing in Festus

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). This includes both individuals who are currently experiencing symptoms and those who are not, as many STDs can be asymptomatic. Particularly, individuals with multiple sexual partners, those who do not consistently use protection during sex, and those who share needles for drug use are at a higher risk and should get tested regularly. According to the CDC, sexually active women under 25, or older women with risk factors such as new or multiple sex partners, should be tested annually for gonorrhea and chlamydia. All pregnant women should be tested for syphilis, HIV, and hepatitis B.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for maintaining both your own health and the health of your sexual partners. Many STDs can have serious health consequences if left untreated, including infertility, organ damage, certain types of cancer, and in some cases, death. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, which can mitigate these risks. Additionally, knowing your STD status can help prevent the spread of these diseases to others.
