I felt Check in was a little too repetitive. Filling out the kiosk first, then filling out the same information paper clipped to clip board. Waiting time in the office for the Dr., I felt was quite long. The shot I received was nice and speedy. Not hurting or being felt. I liked this location and the staff. Would recommend. Thank you.

New to the area. I started having foot pain this morning. Pain continued throughout the day. I called and the young lady told me to get there my 7:30. When I arrived she was so polite. I could barely walk, but she came over helped me to get checked in and took my ID and Insurance information. Called back very quickly. The young ladies in the back were all worried about me trying to walk on my foot. The doctor was so soft spoken and really listen to me and what was going on. I really appreciate the professionalism and concern from everyone in the office. Thank you all for taking care of my needs.

About Diabetes Risk Assessment Testing

Diabetes Risk Assessment Testing is a set of diagnostic tests and assessments designed to evaluate an individual's risk of developing diabetes. This testing helps identify early signs of insulin resistance and prediabetes, enabling healthcare providers to implement preventive measures and lifestyle interventions to reduce the risk of diabetes onset.

Who Should Get Tested

If you reside in West Point, Alabama, and have risk factors for diabetes, Diabetes Risk Assessment Testing is recommended. Individuals who are overweight or obese, have a family history of diabetes, lead a sedentary lifestyle, have high blood pressure, or have other risk factors should consider this test. Early detection of prediabetes allows for timely interventions to prevent or delay the progression to type 2 diabetes.

Tests Included in Diabetes Risk Assessment Testing

Diabetes Risk Assessment Testing may include the following tests and assessments:

  1. Fasting Blood Glucose Test: Measures blood glucose levels after an overnight fast to identify early signs of elevated blood sugar.
  2. Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT): Evaluates how the body processes glucose over time, providing insights into insulin resistance and prediabetes.
  3. Hemoglobin A1c Test: Assesses average blood glucose levels over the past 2-3 months, helping identify long-term glucose control and prediabetes.
  4. Blood Pressure Measurement: Checks blood pressure levels, as hypertension is a risk factor for diabetes.
  5. Body Mass Index (BMI) Calculation: Assesses body weight in relation to height, helping identify overweight or obesity, which are risk factors for diabetes.
  6. Assessment of Lifestyle Factors: Evaluates physical activity levels, dietary habits, and other lifestyle factors that may contribute to diabetes risk.

Frequency of Testing

The frequency of Diabetes Risk Assessment Testing may depend on an individual's risk profile and healthcare provider's recommendations. For individuals with risk factors for diabetes, testing may be conducted annually or as advised by the healthcare provider.

Following the Test

If Diabetes Risk Assessment Testing identifies prediabetes or early signs of insulin resistance, your healthcare provider will discuss lifestyle modifications and interventions to reduce the risk of diabetes. Recommendations may include weight management, increased physical activity, and dietary changes. Regular monitoring and follow-up assessments will be advised to track progress and ensure early intervention.

Diabetes Risk Assessment Testing is a proactive step in managing diabetes risk and promoting a healthier lifestyle to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.
