I am thankful that I could get into urgent care yesterday early. Wait time was very long and doctor only spent 5-10 minutes with me. Very brief exam. He asked me what medicine I can take and prescribed that. I am improving with this med and am thankful but don’t know that I would come back. That was the shortest exam I have ever had. He did not  seem concerned. Dr Scott did apologize for the long wait . The staff was courteous. No update though on why the long wait from staff. Also she never had me fill out any medical history. No one did.  Assistant To doctor was sweet. With an appointment sitting in waiting area with a lady very sick with no mask on coughing he whole time spreading her germs. There needs to be requirement to west bark or out her away from other people waiting.

I had a sore ear yesterday morning and a headache.  I easily scheduled an appointment for the same morning.  The staff was friendly, competent, courteous.  The doctor was great.  She answered all my questions and was very gentle.  I left with a prescription for an ear infection and instructions to return if there was no improvement.  I would definitely recommend them to anyone with a medical problem that needed to be looked at quickly.

Came in to the urgent care with an online appointment scheduled. I have been here several times. I have insurance, which was verified by the office, but the front desk girl said I was required to have a credit card on file but couldn’t tell me why. She did say it would be on file in your system for FIVE years. Not only does that seem to be a crazy ask with verified insurance, she could explain why the card was needed or why it would be on file for years. Makes me question things for sure…. The provider was great but first impression needs improvement.

Overview of STD Testing in Raleigh

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active, regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation, should consider getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). This is particularly important for those with multiple sexual partners, those who do not consistently use condoms, and those who share needles for drug use. Regular testing is also recommended for individuals who have been sexually assaulted. According to the CDC, certain groups are more at risk and should get tested at least once a year, including sexually active gay and bisexual men, and women under 25.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for maintaining good sexual health. Many STDs do not show symptoms, so testing is the only way to know for sure if you have one. Untreated STDs can lead to serious health complications, including infertility, cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Early detection through testing allows for effective treatment, reducing the risk of these complications. According to the CDC, regular testing also helps prevent the spread of STDs to others.

The prevalence of STDs in Raleigh has been on the rise in recent years. According to the CDC, Wake County, where Raleigh is located, has seen an increase in cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. This trend is in line with national data, which shows an overall increase in STDs across the country. When compared to nearby counties such as Charles County and St. Mary's County, Wake County has a higher rate of STDs.

Risk factors related to STDs in Raleigh

Several factors contribute to the high prevalence of STDs in Raleigh. These include a lack of consistent condom use, multiple sexual partners, and a lack of regular testing. Additionally, certain demographic groups, such as young people and men who have sex with men, are at a higher risk. Addressing these risk factors through education, regular testing, and treatment is crucial for reducing the spread of STDs in Raleigh.
