Great experience at the urgent care today. Madi at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. I was roomed right away and tests running. Nurse Amy was friendly and professional. Nurse Heather went above and beyond to come let me know that it had started to rain because she knew I had ridden a scooter to the clinic. The provider Amy was fast, friendly, and efficient. Overall a great experience. Would get sick again. 10/10.

Overview of STD Testing in Okmulgee

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially those with multiple sexual partners or those who don't consistently use protection during sexual activities. According to the CDC, regular STD testing is recommended for sexually active women under 25, men who have sex with men, and anyone with risk factors like new or multiple sex partners. It's also important for pregnant women to get tested as STDs can have serious health consequences for both mother and baby.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a crucial part of maintaining your overall health. Many STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning they show no symptoms, but can still cause serious health issues if left untreated. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, reducing the risk of complications. Additionally, knowing your STD status can help prevent the spread of these diseases to others.

Primary care providers are another option for STD testing. Your regular healthcare provider can order STD tests and provide treatment or referrals if necessary.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often offer free or low-cost STD testing. These centers aim to provide accessible healthcare services to all, regardless of income or insurance status.
