The nurse was friendly but not at all gentle in swabbing my nose for the pcr test. I let her know how much she was hurting me and I know it could have been done to the same effect a lot more gently. She also told me it would take 2-3 days to get pcr results. I was led to believe otherwise from your web site and the doctor who was very friendly came in after and said we should have it probably 24 hours.

The only thing I did not care for was the receptionist. She was a little snobbish and unwelcoming. However, everything else was very nice.

If you find that you need an urgent care center, this place is open on Sundays. I immediately made an appointment this morning, feb 18, 2024. I had to work today, was about 20 minutes late for my appt, and they were so pleasant when I arrived. I thought I had an ear infection; turns out I had a massive amount of ear wax in my left ear. Sarah and Jessica were very friendly and personable. Doctor Courtney was also very thorough. I'll be picking up my prescription at Walgreens tomorrow. Sarah was gentle and she removed so much wax from my ear. What a blessing to have this urgent care center near my job. I highly reccomend this amazing urgent care center.❤🙏

Overview of STD Testing in Takoma Park

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially if they have multiple partners or engage in unprotected sex. While STDs can affect anyone, certain groups may be at a higher risk. This includes men who have sex with men, individuals with HIV, and those who have been forced to have intercourse or engage in sexual activity against their will. It's important to remember that many STDs often show no symptoms, making regular testing crucial for early detection and treatment.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a vital part of maintaining good sexual health. According to the CDC, many STDs are asymptomatic, meaning they show no signs or symptoms. Without testing, these diseases can go unnoticed and untreated, leading to serious health complications such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Regular testing allows for early detection, treatment, and can help prevent the spread of these diseases to others.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits provide another private and convenient option. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent back to a lab for testing. Results are typically available within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Takoma Park

The prevalence of STDs in Takoma Park is reflective of the broader trends seen across District of Columbia County and nearby counties such as Fayette, Sussex, Morris, Indiana, and Essex. According to the CDC, there has been an increase in reported STD cases over the last few years, with chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis being the most common. It's important to note that these numbers only represent reported cases, and the actual number of STDs in Takoma Park is likely much higher due to underreporting.

Risk factors related to STDs in Takoma Park
