Urgent care
The staff was very helpful and concerned. My test was positive and they comforted me and helped me to understand how to treat the condition. I knew before I left the office what to do to take care of myself.

I came because I needed care and did not see that Allegro would be open when I looked at 1st thing this morning but that Urgent care would. I made an appointment for 10 a.m. by the app which I love but was very disappointed in the wait time. I waited in waiting room for over an hour!! I did not leave until after 12:33 although that was the time that was discharged time on the message I received. I went to the restroom before leaving. The hand soap dispenser was off the wall, no soap and the paper towel dispenser was empty with the huge roll of towels on the counter by the faucet so there was little elimination of germs in the bathroom today. The receptionist kept leaving the desk I guess to help in the back because they were so swapped and didn’t seem to have enough staff since the NP was the one that swabbed me for COVID instead of her nurse. No on was at the desk when I left so I guess they had all they needed for a payment to be made 🤷‍♀️

Ms. Bowens was exceptional. I find that my follow-up visit was as expected in keeping my health normal. I will visit again. I don’t know if wait time was separated from appointment times being that it is an urgent care. Yes I would recommend. I have been served by both staff members and I accept the treatment that was done. I have insurance, so no problem for me.

I went to the Magee clinic at 3:40. I was told that I couldn’t be seen because they were closing at 4:00. So, I went to another urgent care clinic. After waiting an hour in the parking lot, I decided to try telehealth. 3 minutes later, I was speaking with the provider, Ms. Touchstone. She was awesome.

My doctor was very personable and friendly. She was thorough is asking questions and prescribing the perfect medication for me. I would 100% recommend Maxem Health Urgent Care because I was even able to consult with a doctor from the comfort of my home and still get the care I needed!

I have used Urgent Care on a number of occasions and have always been pleased with the service I receive. Today (July 4th) I had an unexpected health issue pop up and they were able to see me on short notice - to your employees, thank you for being there!

I have been treated with the upmost respect, friendliness, and care anyone could possibly expect out of their health care provider. I’ve been seeing Lee for I guess 20 years. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The staff at Urgent Care are some of the finest around.

Great! Both ladies were very helpful in answering my questions. They were respectful and knowledgeable. I did not know that this Urgent Care existed but I feel relieved that I have a place to go when I get sick and that I am in good hands.😊

Dominique at the front desk is always kind when I arrive and keeps me updated on my wait time. Vanita NP always takes time and listens to the concerns of her patients. I never feel rushed when I come to Urgent Care with these ladies.

Lee Wallace and staff are kind and compassionate. Wouldn't recommend any other urgent care clinic. First place I've been in a few years that didn't throw meds at you to get you out of the door to usher the next cow into the corral.

Urgent Care in Mississippi

Mississippi's health situation is dire, with the United Health Foundation ranking the state in equal last place in overall health. Its diabetes and obesity statistics are also the worst in the country. These chronic conditions put pressure on Mississippi's general practitioners and emergency departments.

Healthcare in Mississippi

New urgent care facilities bridge the gap between these facilities, offering more services than general practitioners and treating patients whose conditions are not serious enough to warrant a hospital visit. Statistics suggest almost 80% of patients who visit the emergency department could have been successfully treated at urgent care centers.

Urgent Care in Mississippi

Mississippi urgent care center physicians can perform minor procedures, drug tests, physical exams, pap smears, X-rays, and attend to a range of other non-life threatening healthcare needs. They look to ease the burden on the state's general practitioners and emergency departments while offering their patients affordable, convenient, and professional healthcare.

Urgent care centers know that accidents happen and illnesses strike outside of traditional business hours, so they open their doors for extended hours. Most of Mississippi's urgent care centers are open for business seven days a week, for 12 hours or more each day. During that time they typically treat 40 of the state's sick or injured residents. These patients know they can visit without any prior planning, as all Mississippi urgent care facilities happily accept walk-ins without the need for appointments. They also accept most forms of health insurance.

Mississippi's urgent care industry is rapidly expanding to meet the demand of the state's many residents suffering low to mid-level illness, injury, and ongoing health complications.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • How much will an urgent care visit in Mississippi cost?

The price charged at an urgent care, whether in Mississippi or elsewhere, will be based on the location, and there are no actual standard costs between the clinics. Assuming you are paying with cash, you might come across an urgent clinic that charges you $50 while another situated some mile away charges you $100 for the same services. The standard cost in urgent care where insurance cover is not involved ranges from $100 to $125. This price is generally the standard price of a visit before extra services. There are a couple of additional care services that could make your appointment to an urgent care costly including x-rays and lab tests, medications and injections (such as immunization), casting broken bones, as well as stitches and splints. If you have a viable insurance plan in place, the standard pay will be between $20 – 50 depending on your insurance coverage and whether you are in contact with the provider.

  • Are Mississippi urgent care centers open after hours?

Most primary care doctor offices are open during routine work hours, Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Typical urgent care hours are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily, although location-specific hours may vary.

  • Do urgent care centers in Mississippi take appointments?

Historically, urgent care centers were strictly an on-demand, walk-in healthcare service mode. More recently, as consumer behaviors and expectations have evolved, many urgent care clinics have begun offering book ahead visits, allowing consumers to select a same-day or next-day time that works best for their schedule. • What is the best urgent care center in Mississippi?

While it would be easy to provide a list of urgent care centers in and around Mississippi, 'best' is a challenging term to qualify. With the list of locations above, use the filters provided to narrow the results to find the best urgent care for your needs.

  • What is Urgent Care?

Urgent care is available to assist patients that are looking for immediate, convenient medical care. In that manner, they are similar to an emergency room. The difference, however, is that ERs are meant to treat major, life-threatening injuries and illnesses while urgent care centers manage life’s minor bruises and bumps. In simple terms, an urgent care is seen as a walk-in health center that focuses in offering non-emergent health care conditions, including the treatment of the typical illnesses and injuries such as fractures and sprains, cuts and burns, scrapes, stings and bites, flu and cold symptoms, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, and much more. Most urgent care facilities offer both diagnostic and preventive care such as well visits, immunizations, STD testing and annual physicals. For regular visits and check-ups on these clinics, you should expect to pay between $20 and $100. The good thing is that most urgent care clinics will accept major PPOs and insurance cover, Medicare, as well as self-pay in the form of credit cards or cash. Urgent care clinics are located in most parts of the country in various regions to offset emergency room visits and provide a gap in healthcare services. They take patients during all hours of operations, which offer a significant convenience to most people who have and continue to undergo the need for sudden and immediate medical attention.
