Urgent care
Had a 11am appt. Arrived about 10 mins late but texted to inform. Would have been amazing if they texted back to let me know there was a 2 hour wait once I got inside. I received 3 text the morning of about checking in.. they could have just delayed my appt. They were behind due to a few unforeseen issues. Just tell patience so we can go about our day and plan accordingly. Other than that, everything was fine.

Urgent care
I woke up this morning with a sore throat, I arrived and check in was super easy. Staff was friendly, I had to wait a little longer but it was much easier than making an appointment at my doctors office and having to wait days. This was quicker and easier, highly recommend!

Urgent care
Came home from work and noticed that my child had a high fever. Her pediatrician office was closed so I googled and saw that this urgent care was opened. It was super easy scheduling an appointment on my phone and sending my insurance information with just a picture. There was probably a 25 min wait time to be put in a room but it’s an urgent care so considering that it’s not bad at all since the waiting area was full. Everyone was super friendly from the front desk guy to the MA and especially the Dr. She took her time examining my daughter and explaining the care and treatment process. Thank you for listening and caring, I would highly recommend.

Urgent care
I was third in line (2 people ahead of me) and somehow i was waiting for 2 hours and then once i was finally back, it took another hour. I don’t understand how seeing three people took three hours. Provider was fantastic but wait was atrocious.

I have know Dan Murtha thru business networking, many years. He has always dine amazing work with overall operation. I got to witness that when I set up and had a COVID test. I called s few days ahead, to schedule. The lovely female staff member instructed me that if I fo online to register the day before (8am is when schedule is set up for next day) that I should be able to get 3 appts in together, without trouble. Wed, I had alittle difficulty registering my hubby. I called and spoke to Clinical staff member Erica. She assisted me with online registration. I was stressed with the idea that my hubby had been exposed to the virus, and myself and my mother in law also had to be tested. I wanted to make sure that all 3 of us were tested in 10 min time frames consecutively. Erica was compassionate to my needs, registering us from her end. I was able to fill out insurance from my phone easily. I liked how I was informed via text, and could check my wait time. I arrived 20 mins early, and did not have a long wait time. Outside of building looked clean and neat. Inside was decorated in relaxing neutral colors with a modern feel. Immaculate! Very large waiting area allowed seating to be properly spaced, and then some! Aliki Galandos took our info from car, called us to come in, and brought us back to complete testing. She was patient, answering all of our questions cheerfully. She explained process and allowed time for any other questions.(first time for all of us!). She explained timing of pcr test results, and how to retrieve them thru Lab Corp online. Excellent experience. We left extremely satisfied. I have always referred family and friends to this Urgent Care since I met Dan, and saw his passion regarding his extremely well run front end staff and clinical team. This week I got to witness the great care myself, and I was not disapointed!

Riverside Urgent Care quality of care was fantastic. The nurse & doctor provided excellent care, were friendly, prompt, respectful of my time, & memorable. This is my 2nd visit within 3 months & both visits were identical with the nurse & doctor. What is abhorrent is the front desk staff. It went from bad to worse. On my very last visit on 12/2, the receptionist clerk should be fired!! She did not respect my time, clearly lacks impersonal soft skills necessary to work or empathize with the public, & has poor time management. She wouldn't let me wait as a walk-in patient at noon & instead I came back at 6 pm for my scheduled appt. I checked in early with the receptionist at 5:45 as advised, & she told me to wait in the car as a nurse would call me. 45 minutes later at 6:30, I walk back in since I hadn't received a call & much to my surprise, the same receptionist never registered me. She only registered me when I asked why I hadn't received a call & it was obvious why. No apology or accountability was given. Completely unacceptable. I received a call from the nurse before I even made it back to my car. As the 1st face you see when you enter, the receptionist sets the tone for your brand. The public can spend their dollars at any medical facility. Hire a better quality receptionist who can manage bedside manners with the public in the same likeness your nurses & doctors do so well. Otherwise I loved my experience. The care & follow up were spot on! On-board quality receptionists for your financial well-being.

The first staff and doctor could not do enough for me after testing positive to Covid. Actually sent me to the ER for even more help. The hospital called me to say I had pneumonia and go to urgent care just so the can take a listen. Also I had a sinus infection plus Covid had settled in my back I couldn’t hardly walk. So I went back and they refused to see me because my 10 days wasn’t up. Even after I told them how bad I was. They told me to come back on Sunday which was my 10 day. I took a turn for the worst. It was horrible pain I was in, I had a very hard time breathing. Went back on Sunday and the dr couldn’t have been nicer. Nurse told me that was really upsetting that they turned you away. So now I am on an antibiotic and steroid which I wish I would’ve started on Friday I am out of work for another 4 days. Which I was out the whole last week. I was told my quarantine was up on 11/13. Hopefully returning to work on Monday. I just started my job only working 3 days. I know it is no one’s fault I go Covid, but I wish I wasn’t turned away on Friday.

My husband and I found out late on a Sunday night that we had been exposed to someone with COVID. I called MedExpress, obviously panicked, and a very polite woman answered the phone. It was 7:30 and they closed at 8, I thought for sure she was going to tell me that I would have to wait until Monday to get tested. Instead she very happily explained their new drive up policy and told us to head over. Upon arriving, we were the second car to need care. We waited a very short amount of time and then a male nurse helped us. Again, I thought he would have been panicked because of the reason we were there. However he spoke to us calmly, treated us extremely nicely and answered all of our questions even though at this point it was about 8 pm. Then PA Papeika came out and again treated us with the best bedside manner, patience and care. I wish I remembered the receptionist and nurse’s names, because everyone is worth mentioning by name. They all were extremely friendly and welcoming. We are new to the area and anytime we need medical help, this is the urgent care we will be visiting. Thank you all for helping us through a very scary moment, we will be recommending your facility!

The check in process was a little rough. The woman that checked me in was not the most pleasant person but I will chalk it up to Covid. When trying not to yell my info to her because of the masks she seemed to be annoyed that she could not hear me. I wish for the front desk staff they had better accommodations to check patients in. I know it can be very frustrating to have people just stand there and stare at you while you are trying to do work that needs to get done before you can help them out. I wish people in general had more patience when it comes to not knowing what goes on just because there is not a person in front of the employee. Todd the gentleman that took my vitals and administered the test was amazing. Haley the PA was also amazing. I would recommend Riverside Urgent Care and if I needed to I would go back to the facility.

I went in for Covid19 testing and was so happy with the ease and speed of my visit. I tried going to another urgent care yesterday, in Cliffside Park, and not only did I wait over an hour just to hear that when the app was telling me there were only 4 people ahead of me, it was actually about another 2 hour wait. I decided to postpone for today. I scheduled something but then wanted to change the time and when I called them no one answered the phone. I called Promptmed, after trying to get through To AM/PM Urgent Care a couple of times, and immediately someone at PromptMed answered the call and cheerfully and professionally said I was welcome to go there as a walk-in anytime between 8-5PM. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! I have already made a few calls to friends and recommended PromptMed and dissuaded them from going to AM/PM Urgent Care. That place is a NIGHTMARE!!

I was told upon my arrival that there was not an x-ray tech on staff that day. I agreed to be seen despite this since I had already made the trip, although this was disappointing because I was there for a back injury I could have just as easily gone to my primary but I chose riverside be I expected to receive those services there. The doctor told me I could come back tomorrow for an x-ray but then found out there wouldn't be an x-ray tech then either. I asked the doctor if she could write me a prescription for the x-rays I was told they don't do that,y only option would be to try to drive to another one of their locations. I wish this would have been explained to me upfront. I know things happen but honestly, no x-ray at an urgent care for 2 days is a little ridiculous.

I had a good experience. I was there twice. The first time I saw Ankit Shah PA. He was very competent, professional helpful and he reassured me and prescribed antibiotic and a cream for itching. My right hand was swollen and I was in terrible pain. He said I was bitten by an insect. I took the antibiotic and finished it and the swelling went away just like he said. Thank you Ankit. The second time I came because I still had pain in my right hand and arm. I saw PA Patrick Gilliland He prescribed Meloxicam for 14 days and ice for 20 minutes 3x a day. I followed his instructions and it took awhile but the pain lessened and finally went away. They took x-rays and nothing was broken. Patrick was very professional, freindly, competent, helpful and he answered my questions. Thank you Patrick. Thank you AM/PM Urgent Care.

I had some trouble with the website using my smartphone and the staff was very nice with my repeat calls. Once I switched to a laptop it worked perfect. I had the call from the nurse then the visit with the doctor. (Kudos it was within ten minutes of my scheduled time!) I came over for the Covid test, had a ten minute wait due to a printer malfunction in their office and the nurse could not apologize enough! Goodness, it was only ten minute! I’ve waited an hour plus in other doctors offices with no apology or explanation so AFC’s approach was a very nice and refreshing change. I chose AFC urgent care for their reputation at getting Covid results quickly but I’ll come back to AFC because of the incredible staff and how amazing they treat the patients! Thank you for a positive experience!

When I entered the door of this state of the art facility, I was amazed with the cleanliness, proper seat arrangement to maintain social distancing, and some informative signs/notices posted in the building. I was impressed with the front desk personnel coz she was very polite and helpful as soon as I approached the counter at the reception area. She gave me instructions and advised me to wait while filling up information through the site she texted to my cellphone. After a few minutes, the nurse called my name, administered the COVID vaccine, gave me some important information regarding the said vaccination, and advised me to call back if there would be any problems. I didn't experience any side effects or any complications after receiving the two COVID vaccinations. I already started recommending Riverside Urgent Care to my family and friends. Thank you so much!

I went for a corona test. Started process at 11 am and didn’t finish until 4:10 due to only available appt at 1:15 or later for telehealth, 1 1/2 hour wait with my 1:13 telehealth appt , and an hour wait outside office in my car. My total service time required was approximate 3-5 minutes. 1 minute telehealth and 2-3 minutes for swab. I get your requirements for reimbursement but there has to be a better way to do this. My son and I missed my chiropractor appt because of the lengthy time constraints. Maybe allow for a set of appointments for people asymptotic just doing their due diligence as health care professionals or essential workers or just a person exposed. I definitely wouldn’t return to your office for corona test but you guys are amazing when it comes to urgent care for children.

There is not enough good things I can say about this urgent care center especially in a time of a pandemic. This is third time I’ve had to go there in the past 10 days, the first time my father tested positive and yesterday I tested Covid positive. The staff is absolutely outstanding and understanding and so supportive. I will be going back again tomorrow for them to evaluate my father better, during this time I cannot even get him a visit with his own primary care physician. I will forever be grateful for the care we are receiving during this very difficult time. Your staff particularly front desk girl Trish and everyone else are second to none. I can’t thank you enough for helping me during this time, probably the scariest time for me ever.

In the last 3 1/2 yrs I interacted with a lot of doctors nurses and in general people in the medical field. I went to urgent care because it was difficult for me to meet my appointments based of the hrs. Conflicting with my job, I didn’t feel good and my sister recommended urgent care in Bergenfield. I went there and I was amazed of the people that I interacted with, began with the desk associate who greeted me with an smile, to the next one who took my blood pressure, and the one who took my blood and Doctor Michael Curto who take care me right away. This amazing people demonstrated care, respect, professionalism, more important the love for what they doing, i will recommend urgent care to friends and family. Thank you

I was 10th in the app line however, considering we are in A pandemic and you wait in your car I don’t think it was that bad. I refreshed the app every 5 minutes and I would work myself down. The place was very clean, employees were very friendly, the doctor was cool. They gave me a rapid Covid test because I had a sore throat and ear ache but I was negative. I have an ear infection and a virus. They called my script into my pharmacy and handed me my paperwork. My primary was not in however, called me as I was pulling into Riverside Urgent Cares parking lot. I would definitely go to Riverside Urgent Care in Runnemede, NJ. Friendly, clean, and accurate with the what was wrong with me.

I had to wait in my car tell someone call young lady who called me introduce herself. I forgot what free sad her name was, she asked me a few questions but answer them he told me to come inside and check in I checked in with a nice young lady he asked me to wait in my car until they call me for my testing. When I was cold in I was greeted by a nice young lady set took my temperature and my testing I waited 15 or 20 minutes for my test results which came out negative which I was very appreciative all in all my visit at Urgent Care was very pleasant everyone there was very pleasant and I would recommend them to anyone thank you

It was my first time at AM/PM urgent care. They were friendly and very informative. I understand that due to COVID-19 the waiting list is long but, Completely reasonable. At least you can go home and they will let you know when to come back or you can see on the app where you Are on line and how many people are in front of you. Very convenient. The location was clean and very social distant. Just the floors had many leaves as it’s the season of fall so I don’t blame them. The Dr. was very nice and knowledgeable. He explained things well so I would understand them. He was patient and answered all my questions. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

One of your doctors was out sick so wait time was too long. My thumb abscess grew far to big during the time of wait. This could of compromised the state of health of my thumb. Fortunately, the doctor that did see me made the right call and gave serious warning about not getting immediate hospitalization. I did and both the quality of your doctor and hospital treatment saved my thumb! Might I recommend some type of treage treated for patients; in order to direct patient to more appropriate hospital care instead; which could be done at an earlier time than their Urgent Care appointment ? Never the less; a superior level of performance by your Urgent Care Site!

- Verified patient on 3/11

The front desk staff is friendly and the medical staff is really kind, thorough and helpful. However, the wait time, even with an appointment is awful. Ever since it changed from Med Express to Riverside Urgent Care, the scheduling system must’ve changed. I’ve had to go 3 times within the past couple of months, scheduled an appointment for each visit and waited an hour and a half each visit. Each time, other people were complaining about the same wait as well. I would like to continue to go here due to the great care, but due to the wait time, it isn’t worth it for me. Please change your scheduling system, it would make such a difference.

Both days my son & I visited for a rapid covid test, as busy as it was the staff were calm, professional, pleasant and mindful of everyone’s safety! I was very impressed in how kind & courteous & efficient & professional with every client! The staff quickly printed out our results while running the entire front desk! Very professional! We met the PA on Sunday & nurse who tested us both for covid. The clinicians were very efficient , professional, educating us on proper care & safety and very caring! I am so grateful we chose “Friendly urgent care”! Thank you everyone!! We also are blessed to have a great outcome negative covid.

My virtual appt was set for 10:15am, I received a confirmation call from the center at around 10:40am to verify my identity and the doctor came on with me a few moments later.. I didn't mind the wait with all that is going on. The Doctor was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. After a set of questions, he set me up with a parking lot visit which I was swabbed after a 20 minute wait time. The nurse was extremely pleasant and careful to make the Covid swab as comfortable as possible. The AFC Urgent Care has a very organized process in which I was very satisfied with and highly recommend!

Urgent Care in New Jersey

A recent project conducted by three major healthcare institutions found that one in three people who go to the emergency room in New Jersey do not actually need emergency services. Considering that overcrowded emergency rooms make it difficult for critical cases to get the care they need, and that they cost the state about $400 million in indigent care costs, it makes sense for patients to learn about alternative resources.

Further exacerbating this cost issue is that 89 percent of people who visit New Jersey emergency rooms for non-emergent healthcare needs do not have insurance or apply Medicaid coverage.

By visiting a New Jersey urgent care center, most of these people could have saved money without compromising their medical services. More than 50 percent of urgent care centers in the United States are owned by physician groups that, for a variety of reasons, are able to charge lower prices to cash-paying patients than those owned by hospitals. Regardless of ownership, urgent care copays for insured patients generally range from $35-75 per visit.

Between 2007 and 2011, 9.4 percent of New Jersey's population lived below the poverty level. It's important for these people to spend every dollar wisely. If the out of pocket expense of an emergency room is too much, retail clinics staffed with nurse practitioners or physician assistants may be a good, lower cost option. To note, however, retail clinics do not generally offer x-ray or other diagnostic services provided by urgent care clinics and required in treating more advanced issues like broken bones and sever lacerations.

If money is really tight, there are number of free community health clinics in New Jersey to consider for your non-emergent and preventative healthcare needs.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • How much will an urgent care visit in New Jersey cost?

The price charged at an urgent care, whether in New Jersey or elsewhere, will be based on the location, and there are no actual standard costs between the clinics. Assuming you are paying with cash, you might come across an urgent clinic that charges you $50 while another situated some mile away charges you $100 for the same services. The standard cost in urgent care where insurance cover is not involved ranges from $100 to $125. This price is generally the standard price of a visit before extra services. There are a couple of additional care services that could make your appointment to an urgent care costly including x-rays and lab tests, medications and injections (such as immunization), casting broken bones, as well as stitches and splints. If you have a viable insurance plan in place, the standard pay will be between $20 – 50 depending on your insurance coverage and whether you are in contact with the provider.

  • Are New Jersey urgent care centers open after hours?

Most primary care doctor offices are open during routine work hours, Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Conversely, most of the urgent care centers in New Jersey are available after hours, on weekends, and many holidays. Typical urgent care hours are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily, although location-specific hours may vary.

  • Do urgent care centers in New Jersey take appointments?

Historically, urgent care centers were strictly an on-demand, walk-in healthcare service mode. More recently, as consumer behaviors and expectations have evolved, many urgent care clinics have begun offering book ahead visits, allowing consumers to select a same-day or next-day time that works best for their schedule. Use Solv to find a New Jersey urgent care center that offers advanced bookings (or appointments) and book online.

  • How do I book an appointment online with an urgent care in New Jersey?

Solv allows New Jersey residents and visitors to book urgent care visits online with just a few taps. Same-day and next-day visit times are generally available, and you can search for real-time availability clinics.

  • How can I find an urgent care in New Jersey who takes my insurance?

Solv allows you to find any of the urgent care and walk-in clinics in New Jersey, many of which accept most major commercial insurances. Just browse the clinics page to see if your carrier and plan is listed. If you are still unsure, it is best to contact the urgent care center directly for clarification.

  • Do New Jersey urgent care centers offer virtual visits or telemedicine?

Many urgent care centers, including those in New Jersey, now offer virtual visits or telemedicine for residents and visitors throughout the state. Virtual urgent care visits are generally booked online whether in advance or on-demand. Clinics that do offer virtual care have a video icon on their profiles.

  • What is the best urgent care center in New Jersey?

While it would be easy to provide a list of urgent care centers in and around New Jersey, 'best' is a challenging term to qualify. For some consumers, that could mean the closest location whereas other people may prioritize patient reviews, service costs, availability, or whether or not the provider accepts their insurance. With the list of locations above, use the filters provided to narrow the results to find the best urgent care for your needs.

  • What is Urgent Care?

Urgent care is available to assist patients that are looking for immediate, convenient medical care. In that manner, they are similar to an emergency room. The difference, however, is that ERs are meant to treat major, life-threatening injuries and illnesses while urgent care centers manage life’s minor bruises and bumps. In simple terms, an urgent care is seen as a walk-in health center that focuses in offering non-emergent health care conditions, including the treatment of the typical illnesses and injuries such as fractures and sprains, cuts and burns, scrapes, stings and bites, flu and cold symptoms, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, and much more. Most urgent care facilities offer both diagnostic and preventive care such as well visits, immunizations, STD testing and annual physicals. For regular visits and check-ups on these clinics, you should expect to pay between $20 and $100. The good thing is that most urgent care clinics will accept major PPOs and insurance cover, Medicare, as well as self-pay in the form of credit cards or cash. Urgent care clinics are located in most parts of the country in various regions to offset emergency room visits and provide a gap in healthcare services. They take patients during all hours of operations, which offer a significant convenience to most people who have and continue to undergo the need for sudden and immediate medical attention.
