Due to my primary care not being honest with me and not giving my break down of blood work to see my red cells-white cells-sugar and platelits since April. I finally flipped out at her office last week to get all bloodwork and urine done. I have had*** my ocf sugar in my liver and she came out with fTty kicerdeseace. Then came out with my white cell count was wY too high. She called in April or May and said all your results came back negative but the lab was contaminated. !! What would you think? Your samples were contaminated and you needNew order for blood and urine. I now get my testing done at urgent care for anything as Brookside Medical has turned me totally off. It is run under Scott Wilson but he has never met me. I go to a PAKristen Meegan that does not listen to my needs. I feel now she has given me so many drugs I sleep during the day and up all night. I have decided to change DR’sand go to Lincoln Urgent Care. Get my full annual there, adjust my meds and get all new testing done again. Brookside called and asked me for my annual they did not have anyo record that I had my mammogram done. I had my bone density done. And I had my Pap smear done HELLO. Any other Dr I went to in past years would have that faxed right to them. Long story short I will go to Brookside and tell them how terrible they are. They have too many patients-***-a d not enough staff and still taking new pAtients. I could tell you ugly stories of people that were in Brookside office that did not get medicine in time-2- weeks late and a woman’r husband had a heart attack. To end this story stay away from Brookside Medical. I will be going to Lonv Lincoln Medical practice ( I think) or something like on -3- wake Robin Rosd in Lincoln. on September was 6th need to confirm.

Sara the Nurse Practitioner was very kind and courteous. She performed my Covid test politely and eased my fear each step of the way. I’ve had anxiety most of my adult life, but she used humor and honesty to soothe my fears. She’s very informative, and makes sure every patient is taken care of. I highly recommend Sara from Ocean Side Urgent Care, in RI. She is top notch! I was also impressed with the short wait time, and the ease of booking the appointment on your online system.

I was quite uncertain about going into a Walk-In Clinic but really didn’t feel like driving to my primary care doctor in inclement weather. As soon as I walked through the door, I was greeted by such personable people and the fabulous service, professionalism, and welcoming staff continued through my whole experience. It is a modern day facility that also was extremely clean. I highly suggest Ocean State Urgent Care because of all I have stated.

This past Saturday I came to Ocean State Urgent Care for Covid testing and had a great experience both with the worker I spoke with on the phone and the one who administered my test. Both were polite and unnecessarily apologetic about the slight delay — it was a Saturday and raining! I was amazed they were still on their feet. Very grateful for the ease of testing and the friendly staff in Warwick.

I have been dealing with covid. That being said, from phone calls to on site visits, I have always been treated like a king! I prefer to go to Urgent Care before my personal physician. That should said ti all Michael Waxman

Excellent nurse, Robin at front desk very helpful. Another front desk staff member seemed very angry, judgemental and dismissive. Couldnt be bothered answering questions/ solving problems. Wait time for answering phone unusually long for Urgent Care.

Best urgent care around fast and great staff

- Verified patient on 1/27

I had a scheduled appointment. New patient. I told them that I was diagnosed last year with diverticulitis and my symptoms were back. Cramps and some diarrhea. They would not let me in because they were covid symptoms. I do not have covid. I have diverticulitis. I thought I may need antibiotics and they turned me away. They told me I could get an outside appt. They wanted to know if I wanted a covid test. How ridiculous. What kind of urgent care is this?

Urgent Care in Rhode Island

With fewer than 20 hospitals through the State, Rhode Island has one of the lowest hospital and urgent care presence in the country. However, they claim the fourth highest number of physicians per capita. As a result, state of Rhode Island was ranked 10th in the country for overall healthcare in 2012. This brought it up three spots from 13th the year prior.

One of the problems that is keeping the state from ranking higher is the high number of preventable and unneeded hospitalizations. In addition, there is a prevalence of binge drinking, a large number of physical health and mental health days taken off of work and a higher than average smoking population one in five adults in the state smoke. People in the state use their medical facilities more than people in other states. On average, those in Rhode Island visit their doctor 4.3 times per year. Nationwide, people tend to visit their physician 3.1 times each year. While in some cases this helps the state's average health, it doesn't seem to cut down on the number of people visiting urgent and emergency care facilities.

As the Affordable Care Act begins to roll out, the 12% of uninsured patients will gain new access that they haven't had before. Below are additional statistics from HHS.gov further defining the uninsured populations in Rhode Island who will be eligible through the new healthcare marketplaces:

  • 100,952 (12%) are uninsured and eligible
  • 71,776 (71%) have a full-time worker in the family
  • 44,827 (44%) are 19-34 years old
  • 66,941 (66%) are White
  • 7,998 (8%) are African American
  • 17,484 (17%) are Latino/Hispanic
  • 3,829 (4%) are Asian American or Pacific Islander
  • 57,789 (57%) are male

Urgent care facilities offer patients a great way to get the care they need, quickly and efficiently. These facilities are the perfect alternative to emergency rooms when an illness or injury is not life-threatening. In fact, these facilities help cut down the number of people waiting to be seen in the emergency rooms. Throughout the state there are about 3,500 physicians. These physicians staff a number of facilities from walk-in clinics to urgent care, and more.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • How much will an urgent care visit in Rhode Island cost?

The price charged at an urgent care, whether in Rhode Island or elsewhere, will be based on the location, and there are no actual standard costs between the clinics. Assuming you are paying with cash, you might come across an urgent clinic that charges you $50 while another situated some mile away charges you $100 for the same services. The standard cost in urgent care where insurance cover is not involved ranges from $100 to $125. This price is generally the standard price of a visit before extra services. There are a couple of additional care services that could make your appointment to an urgent care costly including x-rays and lab tests, medications and injections (such as immunization), casting broken bones, as well as stitches and splints. If you have a viable insurance plan in place, the standard pay will be between $20 – 50 depending on your insurance coverage and whether you are in contact with the provider.

  • What is the best urgent care center in Rhode Island?

While it would be easy to provide a list of urgent care centers in and around Rhode Island, 'best' is a challenging term to qualify. • What is Urgent Care?

Urgent care is available to assist patients that are looking for immediate, convenient medical care. In that manner, they are similar to an emergency room. The difference, however, is that ERs are meant to treat major, life-threatening injuries and illnesses while urgent care centers manage life’s minor bruises and bumps. In simple terms, an urgent care is seen as a walk-in health center that focuses in offering non-emergent health care conditions, including the treatment of the typical illnesses and injuries such as fractures and sprains, cuts and burns, scrapes, stings and bites, flu and cold symptoms, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, and much more. Most urgent care facilities offer both diagnostic and preventive care such as well visits, immunizations, STD testing and annual physicals. For regular visits and check-ups on these clinics, you should expect to pay between $20 and $100. The good thing is that most urgent care clinics will accept major PPOs and insurance cover, Medicare, as well as self-pay in the form of credit cards or cash. Urgent care clinics are located in most parts of the country in various regions to offset emergency room visits and provide a gap in healthcare services. They take patients during all hours of operations, which offer a significant convenience to most people who have and continue to undergo the need for sudden and immediate medical attention.
