Lab testing
I came in one day without an appoint and waited two hours as a walk-in before I had to leave without being tested. I made an appointment through Quest Lab Testing for the next day, showed up on time, got tested easily and was on my way in 15-20 minutes. Staff is friendly and helpful.

We went in for a COVID test and they did COVID/Flu and Strep after initial exam. The staff was so very patient - our oldest (7 yrs) was afraid and worked for over 30 minutes to get them to NOT swab her nose! The staff never lost patience with her and finally helped her see that it was necessary and got it done so quickly she was surprised. Thank you, ALL!

The provider & staff are friendly. The clinic is clean. No wait time. I am blessed the nurse practitioner advised I should also take the flu & strep test along with the Covid. I tested positive for the flu. Happy my Covid & Strep tests were negative. Love the staff.

I had Dr. Kilbourn, she was very professional and tended to my needs. The nurse who performed my nasal Covid19 test was awesome. She also performed a flu test and strep test and talked me through every step. I would recommend the facility, and I have used them twice before and had a pretty good experience. They are fast, clean, and professional.

To: Christina and Seema, Words can not express how GREAT, LOVING, PATIENT and KINDHEARTED the staff was to my daughter and myself. My daughter was seen for a sore throat and she was swabbed for Strep Throat and in my opinion she was the worst patient ever and Christina and Seema Ahmed,APRN,FNP endured her while she kicked and screamed and put up a fight. I was so embarrassed due to my daughter’s actions and they not only console her but they consoled me as well! They were the epitome of professionalism and for that I can’t say THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING enough to these ladies!!! Thank you J.Walker💕 FYI…Wait time was minimal

Dr. Chi was kind to talk to my daughter and get how she was feeling making her feel important and heard about her symptoms. He was also very thorough with being able to check her throat over the phone which was great to count out strep.

Wait time was very long. There was one person ahead of me waiting and it still took them 45 minutes to see me. That’s a long time to make a 2 year old wait. Doctor was nice, kinda vague. Wish she had done some tests or something. Just said it was an ear infection and sent us on our way. My baby had other symptoms so I wish she would have flu/strep/covid tested at least.

It was pretty fast ..we didn't have to wait as long only for them to tell me that my daughter's ear pain might be from allergies and she was to start up on nasel spray and allergy medicine. The next morning I get a phone call from school to pick her up, due to severe ear pain only to take her back to another appointment @ Dr. Office where she was given antibiotics for an ear infection and also swab for Flu, strep, and covid-19 due to her getting a fever.

This place was a life saver! I am so glad I found them online. My son's pediatrician was booked and he needed to be tested for covid and strep. The wait time was completely reasonable considering the circumstances. Video calls with the doctor and then curbside testing in your car. The staff was extremely kind and you can tell they care. I would refer this place to anyone!

My Grand daughter has been very ill this past week. Naturally, we were fearful it was COVID. The provider screened her for COVID, STREP, all negative. She was thorough, compassionate, expert. Praise be, not COVID or strep. Saigey is better today. They treated our family so respectfully, so caring, and did not leave one stone unturned. I am a Registered Nurse, 34 years in. I highly recommend.

Allen was so, so nice and patient! I was able to add a strep test at the last minute too, which possibly saved me a trip to another appt. I have had friends and family members come here. Everyone has had a great experience.

They were great! My daughter tried to to go to another place earlier today for a covid test and was told that she was fine had allergies and they would not give her a test. We are traveling (flying) to a wedding in 8 days and really would like a test to be certain all is alright. BSA Care X-press was wonderful. They took great care of her and gave her the test (which was negative) and gave her a z-pack so her illness would not turn to strep or sinus infection. They were so concerned and helpful. I would definitely recommend them. They took us as a walk-in and we only had a 30 min wait.

My technician Macy “I believe that was her name” was by far the best persons to ever give my special needs daughter a strep test. She also had amazing bed side manners with my son on a prior visit today . The front desk receptionist also went above and beyond for me today. Thank you ladies!!

I had a few tests to make sure I did not have Covid or strep throat. Much congestion and was feeling miserable. Got a steroid shot and some meds and I’m good to go. It was quick and easy.

I woke up with a killer sore throat and ears hurting. Looked on line and saw there was a short wait time at this location, which is close to my home. Signed in on line and drove to it. Was quickly and politely checked in, waited less than 10 minutes. Was taken to a room for vitals and a quick strep test. Waited 15 minutes for results and saw a Nurse practitioner. He was so kind, listened and reassured me. He said I needed and antibiotic but also asked if I wanted a shot. Told him I wanted whatever would help me get well quickly. He explained which meds he was prescribing and what they would do. I was back in my car and home in less than an hour after I left.

I was here last fall For a Covid test. Dr Daniel Good was Dr. great bedside manner nice. Introduced himself right away. This time I was seen by a lady. Nice but never introduced herself. Seemed to think I just had an allergic rhinitis. Have very red throat. Could barely Swallow. Felt like strep. She did agree to send a 2nd swab to patholog. Left. Room so CMA came in and did swab and I asked her the dr name and she tells me the lady was a PA. So I felt like she just doesn’t identify herself so no one knows she is not an MD. A little disturbing. I am a BSN RN so I am somewhat picky about titles and representation. The CMA Gisela was extremely efficient.

The doctor is nice and friendly and has always been accurate. Have taken my kids here every time they’re sick and can’t get an appointment with their pediatrician or in the weekends. Office upfront has always been nice as good. The nurse is a different story, if she wants to work with kids she should be a lot nicer and friendly with them, and not so rough with them. She left my kid crying and hurt after she took a strep throat test but was too rough while taking it. Unfortunately, have seen her there several times so Thai could be a reason why I might start thinking about taking them to a different place.

The doctor and the nurse were great! My son always cries when taking a strep test but the nurse was able to give him the test, no problem. All the staff is knowledgeable and very friendly!

Your medical assistant (lvn?) need to be better trained on how to swab for strept test. She was very kind but she swabbed for much longer than is required and it was painful for my child as her throat was already tender and sore. A strept swab should only take a coupe seconds.

Atlanta Strep Tests

To establish whether you have group A or group B strep, strep tests are commonly employed. Strep throat is caused by the bacteria Group A strep, which is a sore throat infection. Although Group B strep bacteria can be present in the vaginal area, as well as the digestive and urinary systems, it rarely causes symptoms.

Your doctor may order a strep A test if you have symptoms of strep throat, such as a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, fever, or enlarged lymph nodes. Both a rapid and a traditional strep test can be used to diagnose Strep A, and both are performed in the same way.

During a strep A test, you will be instructed to tilt your head back and open your mouth wide. A tongue depressor will be used to gently keep your tongue down while a long swab is used to take a tissue sample from the back of your throat. The strep A test is harmless and rapid, although it might be uncomfortable. The quick strep test provides results in minutes, but the standard test takes one to two days to complete.

Only pregnant women between the ages of 36 and 37 weeks are usually tested for strep B. Because Group B strep dwells in the vaginal and rectum, it can be passed on to a newborn as it travels through the birth canal. A swab or a urine sample can be used to test for strep B.

During a strep B swab test, you or your doctor will collect tissue and fluid samples from your vaginal and rectum using a cotton swab. For a strep B urine test, your doctor will ask you to urinate into a sterile cup. After that, your sample will be sent to a laboratory for further analysis, with results arriving in one to two days.

Your doctor will consult with you to establish the best course of action if your strep test is positive. Antibiotics are often used to treat infections such as strep A and strep B. Antibiotics are commonly administered to a mother with strep B during delivery through an IV line to prevent the infection from spreading to her baby.

Strep Test FAQs

  • How long does a strep test take in Atlanta?

A strep test usually only takes a few minutes. A throat swab is used for the strep A test, whereas a cotton swab or a urine sample is used for the strep B test. Your healthcare provider can tell you how long your strep test will take based on the procedure used.

  • What happens if you test positive for group B strep?

Adults seldom show symptoms or get sick with Group B strep, but it can be dangerous for newborns. Antibiotics are commonly given to pregnant women who test positive for group B strep to keep the illness from spreading to the baby as it goes through the birth canal. Because the infant will not be exposed to germs in the delivery canal, antibiotics are not required for women with group B strep who are having a scheduled Cesarean section.

  • How much does a strep test cost in Atlanta?

A strep test's price is influenced by a variety of criteria, including provider rates, the type of test (throat swab, vaginal swab, or urinalysis), geographic region, and if your health plan covers this treatment. Getting an estimate from your health insurance company or the step test company is the quickest way to figure out how much a strep test will cost.

  • Does insurance cover strep testing in Atlanta?

Most health insurance companies will cover the cost of strep testing, particularly if your doctor believes it is medically necessary based on your symptoms and current health state. Contact your insurance carrier directly to learn more about your coverage and benefits, or ask your strep testing provider if they can do a complimentary insurance benefits check on your behalf.

  • How do they test for strep throat?

The strep throat A test can be conducted to determine whether or not you have strep throat. Your doctor will initially ask you to sit back in your chair and open your mouth wide. Then, using a long cotton swab, they'll extract a tissue sample from the back of your throat. This testing approach is used in both the rapid and normal strep A tests.

  • How long does it take to get strep test results?

The rapid test for strep A takes 10 to 20 minutes to complete, whereas the standard test takes 24 to 48 hours. A strep B test normally takes 24 to 48 hours to produce results. Your doctor or the strep test provider can give you a clearer idea of when you should expect your results.

  • What is a rapid strep test?

A rapid strep test can only be used to diagnose group A strep. This test looks for antigens, which are chemicals that elicit an immune response. A rapid strep test is similar to a standard strep test in that it delivers you results in minutes rather than days. A throat swab was used as a test.

  • How accurate is the rapid strep test?

A fast strep test can provide a trustworthy result. Some practitioners may order a classic strep A test if the quick test results are negative and the patient has multiple symptoms of strep throat. A standard strep A throat culture test is more accurate than a rapid strep A test, but it takes longer to acquire the results.

  • Where should I get a strep test in Atlanta?

Strep testing is available from a variety of healthcare providers, including your primary care physician and urgent care clinics. If you're pregnant, a specialist such as a midwife or an OB-GYN may do the strep B test for you or refer you to one. You may also use Solv to find a lab in your area that provides high-quality strep tests and make an appointment for the same day.
