Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

Had to get instant COVID test. Everything went smoothly. Very nice staff especially check in staff.

- Verified patient on 8/25

I had appointments but had to wait an hour after to be seen. The comment online on Solv for covid testing is misleading. It says you can call to make appointments or online but when called, staff said we can only made online. Online appointment is not friendly and confusing.

- Verified patient on 7/18

The girls at the front desk were very kind and professional. First time for a COVID test and the girl taking the test was very calm and caring. I would recommend Temecula 24 hour urgent care.

- Verified patient on 11/28

Needed last minute Rapid Covid test for tomorrow. Staff friendly, very professional from my first phone contact and throughout subsequent visit. Very impressed and would highly recommend!

- Verified patient on 6/21

All of the staff working the Covid testing went over & above. They were very kind & considerate even though it was the end of the Covid hours.

- Verified patient on 1/2

I had an appointment for 6:45pm and was not taken into a room until 8:45pm. I sat in the room for another half an hour, was finally seen be the “provider” then waited another 15 minutes to get my nose swabbed. Didn’t get my results until 9:45pm. I was just there to get a Covid test. I will NEVER go back there again.

- Verified patient on 11/14

Needed to get a quick Covid test & wait time for it was not too long & when it was time to get results that was quick too.

- Verified patient on 8/22

Went in for rapid covid test....... had to pay for the rapid but had results within 30 minutes. The process was quick, easy and everything was properly explained from the beginning. The website reflected exactly the service I was looking for.

- Verified patient on 11/13

Made an appointment but there was still a wait for a Covid test.

- Verified patient on 8/19

Went for a rapid covid test. I made an appointment the day before. I waited for over two hours. That I was understanding about due to the influx of patient testing. The issue was with the lines. Maybe some printed signs for appointment patient vs. walk-in patients. It was all so confusing and the staff was getting pretty short understandably. However, printed signs that give direction could have saved a ton of time waiting in line. Every ten minutes, a worker of the covid testing center at the urgent care would come outside to make sure everyone was lined up in the correct lines. Not very good organization. Due to the pandemic and new surge and short staffed, I was very patient. But some signage would be much more efficient. Thank you.

- Verified patient on 12/30

I used online booking to make an appointment at 8:30 AM. I checked in online and watched as my five-year-old‘s name went up the list. We were at the front of the list so I called the front desk. They said I’m not on the list at all because we didn’t come into the urgent care and check in(I thought that was the whole point of booking online and checking in through the website when we arrived). According to the app it told me I was all checked in and ready to go. Everything took forever since we had to go back on the end of the line. My daughter got a Covid test and strep test and we were there for 4 hours.

- Verified patient on 9/9

I paid for a rapid Covid testing. Was told I would receive a text with results within the hour. When the test was performed, I confirmed that I would get a text and I was then told that sometimes their text does not go through and I would have to wait again to get the hardcopy. This is unacceptable. I am now forced to drive all the way back after being home for the last two hours to get the results. I tried calling to get the results and it does not allow you in any way shape or form to speak to someone on the phone. How ridiculous is that.

- Verified patient on 9/1

I think due to the mass need for covid tests, I waited for nearly 2 hours. Be sure to make an appointment in advance on the app. Other than that, the staff and doctor was really kind and attentive.

- Verified patient on 8/12

I was not feeling well. I had a bad cough and Congestion. Went to Temecula 24 Hour Urgent Care. I was seen right away. Completed all the paper on my phone and was taken back to have my vitals. Once that was done I was escorted to the examination room which was cleaned and sanitized. The medical assistant ask lots of question regarding my system and all of the medications I was taking. The x ray technician escorted me to the x ray room took xrays of my lungs. In the examination room the doctor listen to my lungs asked me about my system. She had me take a breathing treatment and a covid test and also test for flu. Covid Test and Flu test came back negative and it looks like I have a virus. The doctor bedside manner was outstanding and the staff were welcoming and very attentive. I highly recommend this urgent care

Other than the miscommunication between the front desk and physician re: covid testing, and where/when results are posted it was very clean and efficient. I was told by front desk that rapid testing opens at 9am but after MA took my saliva test and then, when I was seen by the physician, I was then told she COULD do the Swab test (after the saliva test had been done) which was all good (except the extra fee for the THAT test) I did the test, got results and went on my way after my hour and 45 min visit. That’s not bad considering within hours there will be a full waiting room. I was told by physician to check a website for saliva test results, but then at check out the front desk said they’d call me. I asked for portal info which she gave me while assuring me I’d be phoned by physician. The physician on the other hand strongly assured me my results would be posted. I don’t mind either way, as long as I can GET the results. Both physician and front desk MA were very friendly even at 4:45 AM when I checked in, until 6:30 am when I was finished. I walked out with Swab test results, and a prescription so I’m very satisfied. I know they’re only 2 people and are in a very trying field, I salute them.

Rapid Covid Test

- Verified patient on 8/11

Too long of a wait time for appointment. When we showed up there were 3 for appointments and 3 for walks ins. 2 hrs later when were were able to get in there were 17 walking and 2 appointments. Were were one of them. We were there for just a COVID test. Need different process for those just getting test. When seen nurse asked many of the same questions I filled out online when I made the appointment and she was had writing it. Then she proceeded to ask for meds taking, past medical history, etc. Thin information was not needed for a COVID test. I let her know that but she kept telling me the provider needed it. She was very friendly and I guess she was just doing her job as taught but that information wasn’t needed for a COVID test. I felt bad because there were 17 people waiting to be seen and what they were doing for me was just a simple COVID test and this process was taking up valuable time.

- Verified patient on 10/22

The wait time is awful I was checked in at 5:15pm and didn't leave until 8:30 pm. I just wish the check in & covid testing process was faster. Other than that the doctor & nurse were nice.

Super helpful place for my Covid testing

- Verified patient on 8/22

Extremely long wait time to get a covid test. Very unclear signage throughout the facility so customers do not know what to do or where they should be. Receptionists are less than helpful and not forthcoming with information. Then when you ask a question, there is an attitude in the answer. Super disappointing and unorganized. I understand times have been difficult but if you have multiple guests asking you the same questions repeatedly, maybe making signs or telling the information to the customer right away would be helpful. The digital portal to tell you how many people were in line in front of you was not kept up to date. Somehow made a note of my incorrect age on my chart. Gentlemen who took me to the back was very nice.

Temecula COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Temecula?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Temecula?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Temecula-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Temecula?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Temecula including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Temecula?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Temecula-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Temecula?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Temecula are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Temecula?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Temecula?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
