I rarely get sick. I moved into the area in 2017 and became ill and came to Amelia Urgent Care and was registered in, taken in and examined, diagnosis explained, meds were electronically prescribed and at check-out 20-30 minutes. Here it is 2019, My primary Dr. was out ill also and I was directed to Amelia Urgent Care. I had the same symptoms, processed in a short period of time, same quality services, and same Dr. They are PAR EXCELLENT.

I went in for a sinus issue and to get set up with a new primary care doctor. The nurses were wonderful, the receptionist was so patient. The pa was kind, non judgmental and knowledgeable. I got treated and will go back and see Todd who will be my primary care provider. Very clean, professional. I have lived here for over 20 years and have been to a lot of clinics and providers. This beats them all. I was a walk in.

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

This was a great experience! I had used the brick and mortar for my daughter recently and had to wait in line at 7 AM for a Covid test timeslot - but I’m on crutches and had the opportunity and enough time to set up a virtual visit to now schedule my test that I need to travel domestically in a few days. Yes there was a little bit of a wait for the zoom link but of course you guys are swamped and taking care of everyone so I expected and did not mind that at all. But once the provider came on she was sweet and professional and it was efficient and got me taken care of. It couldn’t have gone smoother I really value the way you have this set up

This is the second time I have gone because I had to get a Covid test. Everyone is very friendly. The only area I wish was better is waiting to do the video visit. They say you will only have to wait 15 mins. before someone will come on at your appt. time. The first time I waited 45 minutes and yesterday it was over an hour. When we finally got connected, the rest of my appt. went well and they set up a time for me to drive thru for my test. I realize that Covid has made every place booked, but I wish Summit could at least come on while you are waiting for your video call and let you know that you are still in the cue and have not been ignored.

Covid Test was fine. However prescribing an antihistamine to someone with headaches and bloody sinuses wasn't very effective. Brutal stabbing headaches resulted. Switched to OTC decongestant to alleviate pain. Fluctuating fever was result of UTI which required antibiotics.

I went to the Norcross location for a rapid Covid test at 4 pm and it is now 6:30 and I have no results on MyChart They also said if I did not hear from them then the result is negative This is not the service level I paid for nor will this be acceptable for when I have to show my results. They have hours listed until 8pm but the phone says they are closed. Poor service! The Milton office is efficient and results are given in writing as advertised within 15 mins. Shame on Norcross.

I WAS SEEN IN YOUR CLINIC ON 1/4/*** FOR COVID TESTING. I WAS GREATLY IMPRESSED AND GRATEFUL FOR THE KINDNESS, “PROFESSIONALISM” BY EVERY STAFF MEMBER. THE NURSE WHO DID THE TEST EXPLAINED, ALLOWED ME TO ASK QUESTION, WAS VERY WARM AND COULD NOT ASK FOR BETTER CARE THAN SHE GAVE. ONLY STAFF PERSON I LEARNED NAME WAS STEPHANIE THE PA. HER EXAM WAS THOROUGH, VERY PERSONABLE AND ALSO VERY KIND. I SPENT 60+ YEARS AS A NURSE IN DIFFERENT MEDICAL FIELDS SO FEEL CAN HONESTLY SAY THIS CLINIC AND STAFF PROVIDE ELITE SERVICE WITH CARING,KIND AND PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDES AND I AM MOST GRATEFUL I WAS SEEN THERE AS A PATIENT. THEY ARE “BEST OF THE BEST “ I WAS SEEN FOR COVID TEXTING AFTER DAUGHTER HAD TESTED POSITIVE. SHE RELATED MY AGE OF 89 YEARS AND MANY HEALTH ISSUES, SO THEY ADVISED WOULD SEE ME THAT DAY ALTHOUGH THEY HAD STOPPED TAKING ANY MORE PATIENTS THAT DAY, SO THEY SAW ME OVER THEIR USUAL CAPACITY LIMIT. COST COVERED BY MEDICARE AND BCBS CERTAINLY WOULD AND WILL RECOMMEND. CHECK IN EASY.

I originally scheduled a virtual visit online for my son. I received a message on how to login and I sat in the virtual lobby for over an hour waiting to be seen. I eventually called and was told they don't do virtual visits and I was scheduled for a walk in. This was extremely frustrating. I eventually brought my son in for a covid test. The appt went fine and I was told I would be contacted with the results. No one called me. I had to call 7 days later to be told his test was negative. My son and I have been quarantined at our home that entire time, waiting for these results. I will not use apple care for urgent care. I'd rather drive to another county or visit the ER. Urgent care is supposed to be simple and fast. This was none of that

My experience was lovely, considering I'm after a covid test. the attendant was very pleasant and polite the only issue that I had was when i was sent a link to choose my location for my testing none of them were really that close to me. I'm in Oxford and I only had options to go to Atlanta Marietta McDonough Roswell ...so it's kind of out of the way which is a little bit annoying. However the call and the sound were clear so I would still recommend it. I don't know if there's a reason that those were my only options I did choose the rapid response test so maybe that was why.

I did a virtual visit to get my covid test. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get a same day test with that but I d4ove to the location and waited in my car for the virtual visit. There was a line of about 30 ppl waiting inviting of the building. The site crashed and wouldn't let me log into the visit, but the staff was on.point. They called about 5 minutes after my appt was supposed to occur and got me screened. They told me I didn't have to wait in.line and that someone would com swab me at my car shortly. Overall from arrival to departure the experience took an hour and change. They called me with the results so I didn't have to wait around. Best system for testing efficiency I've seen so far. Those waiting in line hadn't done a virtual visit. I recommend signing up for the virtual visit, saved time and I got to wait in my warm car.

I truly did not expect such on the ball caring experience in this time of massive Covid testing but I was given good advice based on my own personal health condition as I would get from my own doctor. Vivian, Katie, and Raq’ia were all excellent in their skill sets and the front desk personnel were also friendly and efficient. I felt so much more knowledgeable about What to do to manage my own Covid Prevention and Screenings than expected. I couldn’t have been more impressed by these courageous heroes of our world pandemic. BTW this is coming from somebody who is very very picky about human relations and skilled medical professionals. This group was completely on top of it!

My husband had a scheduled virtual appt right after mine. The person who conducted my visit asked if he could see my husband at The same time as me. He said I could then schedule our next day walk in appointments at the same time. When we arrived for our walk in appt, the facility had no record of either a virtual visit or an appt for my husband. We have now been waiting over an hour to be seen, and had to re-submit registration paperwork for my husband. This is very inconvenient, especially since we took the time yesterday (so we thought) to complete paperwork and virtual visits in order to have a drive up, quick swab for the rapid COVID test. VERY UNHAPPY

Tonya, Star and the Doctor were INCREDIBLE!!! My child is special needs and simply needed a routine rapid covid test for pre-op for surgery. It was the easiest process. They let me stay in my car with my child until it was time for him to be seen. The office is very clean. I appreciate the staff going above and beyond to meet the needs for my child. They were quick to get me the results sent via email so that I could send it on to the surgery center in Atlanta. THANK YOU REDMOND URGENT CARE!!!

Upon walking in the door for the rapid Covid test, I encountered a staff member sitting at a table. I was not greeted or acknowledged for a short period of time. Although she wasn’t on the phone or talking to anyone, she chose to ignore me until she finished what she was doing. It literally takes 2 seconds to make eye contact, say hello, I’ll be right with you. As if I wasn’t feeling bad enough physically and certainly didn’t come to make her obvious bad day worse, it just adds another layer to the question, what type of care will I receive here? Fortunately, the staff member who preformed the test was quite polite and very professional as was the staff member who relayed the test results.

My first time visiting Atlanta Plus Urgent Care! My Mom, my husband and I all needed Covid testing. Being concern of not wanting to expose my Mom to any additional germs Cierra was very polite and professional about giving us the option to sit in the car until it was our time. She was also very thorough with the intake process. Once we were called in Janel continued the exceptional professionalism your business offers. Janel proceeded to process of 3 of us without missing a step. I will wholeheartedly recommend APUC and will definitely be back when services are needed.

My virtual visit was easy to schedule and the provider was friendly and reassuring during the visit, but the lack of follow up mechanisms is concerning. After my visit, I realized that I want to have the influenza test in addition to the COVID test given my Upper respiratory symptoms because the urgent care administering the tests refused to give me the Influenza test without an order from this provider. I had no way to contact this specific provider following the visit to request this test be added, because she was only associated with virtual visits, not a brick and mortar location. I was only given the option to schedule a separate visit with another provider (at full cost). I’ve checked with my physician’s office and the my are no longer administering the flu test The lack of follow up methods and rigid protocols at the urgent care facility have been difficult to navigate. I had no idea that I would have an easier time getting a COVID test than an influenza test during flu season.

Everything went fine except for the actual Covid test. Erica Eunice did the procedure and went to the extreme causing my nose to bleed badly. Amber Pittman, NP came into room to examine me and saw the bloody Kleenex and asked what happened. I told Amber Pittman, NP that I had already had test 3 times in past due to medical procedures being performed and this experience as uncalled for. I’m writing this so hopefully no one else will have to experience what I did. Amber Pittman, NP was very nice and apologetic about what happened.

It took 11 days to get my Covid test back after they told me it would take 3 to 5 business days. I’m glad it was negative.

I checked in on line you computer did not notify me that you do not except ambetter insurance. Disappointed at having to pay $75.00 for Covid test.

Front desk receptionist and nurse who did the covid test where spot on. Male dr who gave me my test results basically was like “Its a virus. Not much we can do. Go home” Well no kidding Doc, I raised three kids I am very familiar with the difference between viral and bacterial diseases. He did say I “could” go to the hospital and get a plasma bag with antibody treatment. When I asked if there was any real reason too, I got no answer. Some guidance as to what symptom remedies are safer to try than others would have been very helpful. If you are too afraid to be wrong or dont care to treat your patient without judgement, find another profession.

- Verified patient on 8/14

The receptionist was obviously being trained, and unsure of herself! It was unclear when she was finished with me! I had To ask her! The nurse that did the Covid test wasn’t friendly at all, the it was the most painful thing I’ve ever had to endure! Very very painful! I’ve had the test before and it was painful at all, it was positive the first time I had It done, but they let me do it myself! No one need the applicator stuck up their nose so far that it’s that painful! When I did the first test myself, the medical person told me where to hold the applicator and watched to make sure it was done proper! There is no way the applicator should have to be up your nose so far it’s that painful! I will Not go back to AppleCare and allow myself to be tortured that way again! Thank you!

Kingsland COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Kingsland?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Kingsland?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Kingsland-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Kingsland?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Kingsland including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Kingsland?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Kingsland-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Kingsland?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Kingsland are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Kingsland?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Kingsland?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
