Woke up with symptoms of Strep Throat, something I’ve suffered from a lot ever since I was a kid. Scheduling was easy. Wait time was practically non-existent. Nurse was very nice and patient as I struggled to speak with a swollen throat. Doctor was with me quickly. Very friendly and nice. Nurse did my swab for quick testing. My test came back negative, but they prescribed me medications anyways. I asked if they could run a lab on my swab, because my swab test for Strep has always come back negative ever since I was a child. Doctor refused to do so and said they were treating it like Tonsillitis instead. Sent me on my way without asking if I needed a doctor’s note; had to reenter the building to get my doctor’s note written for my two jobs. Doctor prescribed antibiotics, but also prescribed me cough drops for throat pain. Cough drops aren’t meant for throat pain, and I’m not coughing.

My entire experience was great, from the moment I walked in the door, to me leaving after my visit. Everyone I came in contact with was polite, caring, and actually listened to me. It's hard to find a decent urgent care, and even though Apex is 25 minutes from my house, I highly recommend them and will come back in the future, if needed. Thank you, Apex team! You all are appreciated :)

I was able to choose a Labcorp location and schedule an appointment. Check in was easy, and I only needed to provide my name and DOB. They were able to locate my order in their system. They were already aware that my labs were paid for prior to the appointment. I had my labs done on a Wednesday, and I received my results by Saturday. Great experience.

Everyone was very professional, helpful and friendly😁. The phlebotomist has a little trouble getting a blood specimen, but was very gentle, calm and caring. She called in another associate and they tried my hand and was able to get the vials they needed. Both phlebotomists were very professional and reassuring. I will continue relying on Compunet for all my needs.

I went to the Compunet lab in Miami Valley Hospital North. It was very nice! Very clean. Waiting area was fine. I had an appointment, so wait was very short. The young lady who drew my blood was very nice and did a great job! A little hard to find, so would recommend better signage at the hospital. Great job, overall!

- Verified patient on 3/17

I was impressed that the immediately took my vital, blood work,X-rays with contrast. They asked all the right questions. The big plus is the were able to transfer me to a hospital who had a surgery on staff to do the surgery. The doctor on staff was a bit arrogant. She needs to come down a few now notches to the real to the real world. In her position she is very knowledgeable but we want to be talked to by someone who cares like a friend

- Verified patient on 6/10

This experience was awesome! I have been dreading it for days as my arms are still bruised up from previous lab work. She found a vein immediately and was able to get the blood. It took maybe a whole five minutes. I was so relieved! I wish I would’ve gotten her name. I will be back here for more lab work.

My technician, Anastasia, was very professional but able to put me as ease immediately. I have had a needle phobia since I was a child. I shared that with Anastasia and my experience was the best blood draw I have ever had. She is an asset to your office. I only wish I could ask for her in the future. And that I could have hugged her.

- Verified patient on 3/31

My doctor requested bloodwork for my schedule appointment on 4/1/21as I have low iron. At my scheduled appointment at Compunet I realize I don’t have my insurance card ready. Crystal gave me a chance to get said card and Carol took my blood. They were both truly understanding of my situation and made me feel great leaving Compunet today. Thank you!

- Verified patient on 11/20

My doctor makes it really easy to talk to her as she just seems very calming and friendly. I have a history of being very hard to draw blood from and the nurse was great at it and was able to get what she needed without additional pokes which is very unusual for me so it was very appreciated.

Love the Huber Heights Compunet. I get blood drawn frequently for eye drops. I used to get it done at the one on Dayton Xenia Rd but they became awful!! Rude techs, long wait lines. They need to fix that location. But the one in Huber Heights is friendly, professional and always get my blood within two sticks which is excellent!! I’m a hard stick.

- Verified patient on 10/29

First of all, the first technician was just plain rude, cold and didn't seem to care about what I said. I am a very "hard stick" so I have been told by previous tech's to give "landmarks" and show them the areas that give blood easier. The first tech had a bigger than never needle and when she stuck me, she went right through the vein. It "flashed" but thats it. She got really mean. The second tech was really nice. She tried a different area, got 1 tube of the 4 needed but vein stopped giving. At that point she explained that since the first tech had poked the "landmark" I suggested, usually they don't poke the same vein twice, but after looking at it, she said she was going to give it a try. It was a good vein! Unfortunately for me, some of the technicians I encounter simply don't understand what I go through just to have blood work and should have chosen a different profession. I get so anxious when I have to get blood work done and this is exactly why! Dreama was the second technician and was absolutely wonderful. She told me to ask for her in the future - and believe me, I will do that. Thank you Dreama !

There were only 2 staff employees when I had my blood work done. They were both extremely kind and very professional. They answered all my questions/concerns and were accommodating to my needs. I need to be reclined when having blood drawn and need a few extra minutes to remain reclined, as I have had negative reactions in the past. Both ladies were very understanding and made sure I was feeling all right before I left. Thank you to both of them.

I have never had such a safe and friendly experience from an urgent care! These good people go above and beyond to assure ur safety and wellness. Sarah was very friendly, attentive and kind! Uriah was absolutely amazing! He's friendly, attentive, kind and assured the safety and cleanliness of my visit. This was the first person that has ever drawn blood from me without leaving a single bruise! I highly recommended these good people to provide ur healthcare. I won't go anywhere else. Awesome job guys!

My doctor's office messed up the bloodwork order. Their office is in the same building as this Compunet location, so I offered to go up and get it straightened out. The lady at the Compunet desk, Anastasia, wouldn't hear of that, she said she'd call up there. They put her on hold for 10 minutes while they got things figured out. I offered to go up again, Anastasia said, "Nah, this is fine". Meanwhile, Anastasia is handling counter folks while she's on hold. Finally, the doctor's office got their act together and re-sent the orders. After that, another lady came in who was perturbed at Compunet and her doctor's office for a mess up a month or so ago. She wasn't "over the top", but it was obvious she was pi$$ed. Anastasia handled it beautifully and even had the lady laughing by the time she sat down. While Compunet's check-in folks are always pretty good, that Anastasia is exceptional. The phlebotomist was great, too (sorry, can't remember her name). Ranked right up there with the ones who poked me at Cleveland Clinic. And, I'm a bad patient, lol!

It's a bit tough to say you had a "great experience" when referring to having blood drawn, lol... but you, at Compunet, have made it as close as is possible! Very smooth sign-in process. Super friendly staff. Next-to-no wait time. Excellent phlebotomist. The easiest experience in getting blood drawn I've ever had! And I appreciated the COVID precautions! Thank you!

Hannah O. was Fantastic! I have not been to this location in awhile because I didn't have a great experience before. I have traveled to another location that is 30 minutes away from my house. Even though I have to get my blood taken every 6 months I don't like it at all. I wanted to try this location again because it is 10 minutes from my house. I always let the person know that I have passed out so they are aware because I have passed out before. Hannah was very understanding and empathetic. She was quick and and absolutely fantastic! I will now go to that location and request Hannah O every time!

Seems to be a problem on most of my visits. Today was typical. I got the blood draw and luckily I asked if the results were being sent to Deanna Demmet. She told me the order was Dr Markus. They said they didn't have an order from Demmet. I went upstairs to Demmets office and they told me that there is an order from Demmet. They gave me a copy and I went downstairs to give it to your office.I don't understand why this keeps happening.

I went in feeling very anxious secondary to the reason for my visit and feeling ill. The staff helped to reassure me, everyone included, from the receptionist who took my info from the parking lot, the medical assistant who rechecked and made sure my blood pressure was okay, the lab tech who performed my diagnostics painlessly, and the PA, who helped me feel confident by the time my visit was over. I highly recommend this provider!

This place is fantastic! The staff was top notch and took great care of my son when he was very sick. The fact that they are able to do blood and urine tests onsite and that they had the right equipment and the ability to give fluids through an IV was key. Much better than having to go to an ER! Will definitely come again if needed.

I was told to go to UH Ravenna emergency room. When I got there, I found a sign on the door stating EMERGENCIES ONLY. All others enter through the main entrance. Went in main entrance and no one there to help. Went directly to radiology and there was no one there. Called radiology and she said we should have gone through E.R. told her we were turned away from there. The reason I'm here is to find out if I have blood clots in my arm. The doctor I saw at urgent care sent the order STAT and needed to find out EMEDIATLY as the pain and discoloration is getting worse. Been waiting now for an hour and a half. Still waiting

The facility was very clean. We did not have to wait long.. I was very pleased they had every test my mother needed on site like blood work, mri, and xray. My mother needed IV with antibiotics so it took a while. But the staff checked on us regularly and gave us water while we watched TV in a private room. My mother was much better when she left. I recommend Guidewell highly.

Just a blood draw at 7:00 am on a Friday- very well organized at check in, about a 10 minute wait with two people in front of me- blood draw was quick - with just one stic to hit a vein and out the door - this is a great service and always runs efficiently and staff is courteous and up beat even at 7:00 am

About Blood Tests

Blood tests are used as valuable snapshots of your current overall health and can be an effective way of catching illness or disease early, or measuring how you are reacting to new or on-going treatment. There are a variety of types of blood work with most common tests being complete blood counts (CBC), complete and basic metabolic panels (CMP, BMP), thyroid panels, nutrient tests, and sexually transmitted disease (STD) tests.

Each of these blood tests are fairly common and can be performed in a variety of settings including testing labs, primary care offices, urgent care centers, and even retail clinics and some pharmacies. Solv even has clinic partners in the Middletown-area that offer online scheduling, allowing you to book a visit convenient to your schedule and skip the wait. The tests themselves take only a few minutes and usually are performed by a nurse or technician where they:

  1. Clean the area where they will draw blood from, usually your upper arm
  2. Tie a band to your upper arm to make your veins more visible
  3. Put a needle gently into a vein to draw blood into the attached tube
  4. Remove the needle, then the band from the vein when complete
  5. Cover the draw site with a bandage

Risks associated with blood work are very low, but could possibly include slight pain or discomfort at the draw site, dizziness or even fainting from blood loss, or vein puncture. It’s important to discuss any concerns you may have with your medical provider before the procedure begins.

Blood Test FAQs

  • Where can I get a blood test in Middletown?

In general, blood tests are available at Middletown-area medical labs, urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care doctor offices, and many local pharmacies. • Who should get a blood test?

Blood tests provide a valuable look at your overall health and blood work should be done at least once a year. They offer a great way to catch illness or disease early on, or see how you are progressing with on-going treatment. Your doctor or healthcare provider typically orders blood tests for you during an annual physical or as necessary for a specific diagnosis. It’s possible to order your own blood tests without a doctor, particularly for things like STD tests or hemoglobin A1c tests.

  • Are video visits available for blood work in Middletown?

While a blood test cannot be performed over video, your doctor can both initially prescribe blood tests using telemedicine, and review results with you virtually.

  • How much does a blood test cost in Middletown?

Without insurance, blood work typically costs between $50 to $1,000, or sometimes more depending on the specific tests and the provider type you are having the tests performed at. At-home tests are available in most areas and could cost substantially less. Book a consultation with a lab testing provider in Middletown today to get more details on the specific blood work you are looking for.

  • How long do blood tests take?

Blood tests can be performed either in-office or performed on samples that are sent to an outside lab. The collection itself should only take a few minutes, and the results could be ready within a few hours or up to one to two weeks depending on the test you are getting done. Once you’ve received your results, your doctor can discuss them with you either in-person, on the phone, or through a video visit.

  • Is blood work covered by my insurance?

Most common blood tests are covered under insurance plans, particularly when your doctor orders them as part of an annual physical or supporting a diagnosis. If you are self prescribing the test, however, it may not be covered by insurance. If you have questions about your specific insurance coverage, it is best to contact your carrier or your provider.
