I was not aware that patients can preregister. The wait time was over two and one half hours. The staff was pleasant considering their heavy work load. I would recommend this facility to my family and friends. The Nurse Practitioner was exceptional, the assistant was not. The waiting room was cold and the women’s bathroom commode had a flushing problem that I resolved.

I and my wife has been at this location several times although I had to wait a little while with this past visit it was understandable because of the amount of people that were there for health care also. I will say the staff was great at getting people moved in and out as best S they could. All staff was very friendly and enjoy coming  here better than my own doctors office 👍 The doctor that seen me this time has been with yall for a long time I recognized her even with her mask on 😂 She was as always when I have seen her very friendly and takes time to explain any questions I have had 👍 I have and will continue to recommend yall to all my friends and family ! Hopefully this report gets back to everyone that works there for the great job they are doing. Thank you Patrick Branham

About Chickenpox Testing

Chickenpox Testing is a diagnostic test used to detect the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), which causes chickenpox. Chickenpox is a highly contagious viral infection characterized by itchy, red spots and blisters all over the body. Chickenpox Testing is important for confirming the diagnosis, especially in cases with atypical symptoms, and for guiding appropriate medical management.

Who Should Get Tested

If you reside in Isle of Palms, South Carolina, and have symptoms suggestive of chickenpox, such as fever, headache, and a rash that progresses to itchy blisters, Chickenpox Testing is recommended. Testing is also valuable for individuals with a history of exposure to someone with chickenpox to assess their immunity status.

Tests Included in Chickenpox Testing

Chickenpox Testing typically involves:

  • VZV IgM Antibody Test: Detects specific antibodies produced early in the course of a chickenpox infection.
  • VZV IgG Antibody Test: Detects antibodies that indicate past infection or immunity to chickenpox.

Interpreting the Results

The interpretation of Chickenpox Testing results involves assessing the presence of VZV-specific antibodies in the blood. Positive results for VZV IgM indicate a recent or active infection, while positive results for VZV IgG indicate immunity due to past infection or vaccination.

Importance of Chickenpox Testing

Chickenpox Testing is important for:

  • Confirming the diagnosis of chickenpox
  • Identifying individuals at risk of complications, especially pregnant women, newborns, and those with weakened immune systems
  • Preventing the spread of chickenpox to others
  • Assessing immunity in individuals exposed to the virus for appropriate management

Following the Test

After Chickenpox Testing, healthcare providers discuss the results with individuals and provide guidance on managing the infection and preventing its transmission to others. Vaccination may be recommended for susceptible individuals to prevent future chickenpox infections.

Chickenpox Testing is a valuable tool in Isle of Palms, South Carolina, to promptly diagnose and manage chickenpox cases, thereby reducing the risk of complications and containing the spread of the virus.
