Fell Thursday am while doing some cleaning. Fell on my right arm, immediate swelling & marked pain. My daughter insisted I see a Dr so we decided to go to Urgent Care. No problem getting checked in but wait time for X-rays & seeing Dr was to long. Staff all helpful & friendly. When the Dr came in she went over X-ray results. It was a severe radial fx C impaction & a sharp splintered piece, told me what needed to be done& that I should go to the ER right away. She presented to be very competent & empathetic. Yes I would.

Everything was great except …. The caregiver gave me shots in the hip/leg  area! Not the large muscles in the buttocks.   Very close to the hip joint. Shots never hurt, but the one right next to the hip/ leg joint did.   This isn’t normal procedure!

About Ferritin Testing

Ferritin Testing is a diagnostic test that measures the level of ferritin, a protein that stores iron, in the blood. Ferritin levels reflect the body's iron stores and play a crucial role in assessing iron deficiency and iron overload conditions.

Who Should Get Tested

Residents of Benton, Arkansas, with suspected iron disorders, such as iron deficiency anemia or hemochromatosis, may benefit from Ferritin Testing. Additionally, individuals with symptoms like fatigue, weakness, and unexplained joint pain may require testing.

Test Methods for Ferritin

Ferritin Testing is performed using a blood sample. It is often part of a panel that includes other iron tests, such as serum iron, transferrin, and total iron-binding capacity (TIBC).

Interpreting the Results

The interpretation of Ferritin Testing results involves analyzing the level of ferritin in the blood. Abnormalities in ferritin levels, along with other iron test results, can indicate iron deficiency or iron overload.

Importance of Ferritin Testing

Ferritin Testing is important for:

  • Assessing iron stores in the body
  • Diagnosing iron deficiency anemia and iron overload conditions
  • Monitoring the response to iron supplementation or treatment

Following the Test

After Ferritin Testing, healthcare providers discuss the results with individuals and recommend appropriate interventions based on the test findings. Treatment options may include iron supplementation, dietary changes, and further evaluation for underlying conditions affecting iron status.
