I did not feel well for a few days and then woke up with a terrible sore throat and no voice.  I was able to make an appointment that morning and was in and out quickly with a prescription called in.  The entire office was so nice and I’m feeling much better a couple days later.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Hepatitis, a viral infection that causes liver inflammation, can affect anyone, but certain groups are more at risk. According to the CDC, individuals who should consider getting tested include those who have been exposed to blood or body fluids of an infected person, people who have had unprotected sex with an infected person, individuals who have shared needles or other drug paraphernalia, and those who have traveled to countries with high rates of hepatitis. People with chronic liver disease or HIV are also at an increased risk, as are men who have sex with men.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial because it's often asymptomatic in its early stages, meaning you could have the virus and not know it. Early detection allows for immediate treatment, reducing the risk of serious liver damage or even liver cancer. According to the CDC, early treatment can also prevent the spread of the virus to others.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Conroe

Conroe, located in Montgomery County, TX, has seen a steady increase in hepatitis cases over recent years. This trend mirrors that of nearby counties like Hill County and Calcasieu Parish and is consistent with national data from the CDC. Factors contributing to this increase could include a rise in intravenous drug use and unprotected sex.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Conroe

Risk factors for hepatitis in Conroe include unprotected sex, sharing needles or other drug paraphernalia, and exposure to blood or body fluids of an infected person. Travel to countries with high rates of hepatitis and having a chronic liver disease or HIV also increases the risk.

Other STDs in Conroe

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also prevalent in Conroe. The rates of these STDs are similar to those in nearby cities like Cut and Shoot, Willis, and Shenandoah. It's important to note that having one STD can increase the risk of contracting another, so regular testing is crucial.
