I was able to choose a Labcorp location and schedule an appointment. Check in was easy, and I only needed to provide my name and DOB. They were able to locate my order in their system. They were already aware that my labs were paid for prior to the appointment. I had my labs done on a Wednesday, and I received my results by Saturday. Great experience.

I have been coming in to see Lance for years. If I can’t see him I use Chris. But have seen Debbie or Jennifer. I have always respected their diagnosis and did what they said. Lance is my favorite because he knows my history and he diagnosed my thyroid disease first visit. And they are busy people and the time does get away from them, but when you are good you do have lots of patients that wanna see you. Patience’s is a virtue so sometimes you have to wait even with appointment. But it’s worth it if you have confidence in your Dr.

Overview of STD Testing in West Memphis

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider regular STD testing, regardless of their age, gender, or sexual orientation. This is particularly important for those with multiple sexual partners, those who have had unprotected sex, or those who have symptoms of an STD. Regular testing is also recommended for pregnant women, as untreated STDs can lead to complications during pregnancy and may affect the baby.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for maintaining good sexual health. Many STDs do not show symptoms in the early stages, and without testing, these infections can go unnoticed and untreated. This can lead to serious health complications, such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV transmission. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, reducing the risk of these complications and preventing the spread of STDs to others.

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

These facilities often offer same-day and next-day appointments, making it easy to fit testing into your schedule. One such location is the Urgent Team in Horn Lake, MS, which has a high rating and reviews praising its friendly staff. You can book an appointment at this location through Solv's website or mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers, such as your regular doctor, can also provide STD testing. This can be a good option if you have a long-standing relationship with your doctor and are comfortable discussing your sexual health with them.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those with limited financial resources, free STD testing may be available at community health centers in and around West Memphis. These centers often operate on a sliding fee scale, meaning the cost of testing is based on your income.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits are another option. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. This can be a convenient and private way to get tested, although it's important to choose a reputable company to ensure accurate results.

Prevalence of STDs in West Memphis

West Memphis, located in Shelby County, AR, has seen a rise in STD rates in recent years, mirroring a national trend. According to the CDC, the most common STDs in this area are chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. The rates of these infections are higher in West Memphis compared to nearby counties such as Webster County and Fayette County, indicating a need for increased awareness and testing in the area.

Risk factors related to STDs in West Memphis

Several factors may contribute to the high STD rates in West Memphis. These include a lack of comprehensive sex education, limited access to healthcare, and socioeconomic factors such as poverty and unemployment.
