My first time at Guidewell today made a lasting impression on me. From my phone conversation with receptionist, the ease at scheduling appt, the quick response time for that appt, I was already impressed. Wait time at the office was minimal; Katherine (ARNP) was so caring, gentle and kind. She listened to everything I told her, and made the decision for me to have X-RAYS taken. After having this procedure done, Katherine came back into the room and made some great recommendations for me to follow through with. I only wish I could make Guidewell my Primary Healthcare Provider! Marsha

Overview of STD Testing in Pinellas Park

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially if they have multiple partners or are not consistently using protection. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all adults and adolescents from ages 13 to 64 get tested at least once for HIV. Specific guidelines for other STDs vary. For example, sexually active women under 25, or older women with risk factors such as new or multiple sex partners, should be tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia annually. Men who have sex with men should also get tested more frequently for various STDs.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for maintaining your health and the health of your partner(s). Many STDs are asymptomatic, meaning they don't present any symptoms, so the only way to know for sure if you have one is to get tested. Early detection can prevent the spread of the disease and can also lead to more effective treatment. According to the CDC, untreated STDs can lead to serious health complications, including infertility and increased risk of HIV infection.
