A great experience for something I had a lot of anxiety about. Had no wait time or issues at the testing center/lab. Had blood drawn at 3pm and had results by email at 9am the next morning.

St Michaels is not where you should go for urgent care. I went there becuase of pain around groin area. The nurse wanted to put me on antibiotics when i had told her i did not have any of those symptoms. They sent my urine off to see if anything came back with any bacterial growth. This past thursday i received a call from the clinic but i was busy. So i returned the call later. The receptionist said they would call me back becuase the nurse was with patient. I did not hear anything back. The next day i called and they told the same thing nurse with will call back. Again i called second time that day and the same line . Nurse will call back. So today on Saturday i called again and same line.it has been two whole days and i have not received any feedback about my results. Whats the point in going to get care when they cant even take five minutes to tell me my results over the phone . The operation is lacking in coverage and i wont be going there again. What if it was something urgent and i needed to know my results in order to make a proper medical decision. Its a waste of time and they do not care about your health.

Overview of STD Testing in Hattiesburg

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially those with multiple partners or those who engage in unprotected sex. This is crucial because many STDs may not show symptoms immediately, or at all, but can still cause serious health problems if left untreated. It's also important to remember that STDs can be transmitted through various forms of sexual activity, not just intercourse. According to the CDC, certain groups such as young people aged 15-24, pregnant women, and men who have sex with men are particularly at risk.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a vital part of maintaining your sexual health. Early detection and treatment can prevent serious health complications such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV. It also helps to prevent the spread of these diseases to others. Remember, knowledge is power when it comes to your health. By getting tested, you can make informed decisions about your health and your relationships.

STD testing options in Hattiesburg, MS:

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider is another good option for STD testing. They can provide you with a comprehensive sexual health check-up, discuss your risk factors, and guide you on the best ways to protect yourself. If you don't have a primary care provider, you can find one through Solv.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often offer free or low-cost STD testing. These centers are a valuable resource, especially for those without insurance or with limited income. However, it's important to remember that availability may vary, and you may need an appointment.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits provide a more private option for STD testing. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent back to a lab for testing. Results are typically available online within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Hattiesburg

Hattiesburg, located in Forrest County, has seen a steady increase in STD rates over the past few years, mirroring the national trend. According to the CDC, the most common STDs in the area are chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. The rates of these diseases are higher in Hattiesburg than in nearby counties such as Webster, Covington, and Monroe. This could be due to a variety of factors, including population density, access to healthcare, and public awareness of STDs.
