I came in for suspected strep throat (my child had just tested positive and I was a few days ahead of her in terms of symptoms. The doctor noted my throat was acutely red and looked like typical strep. The rapid test did not gather enough of a sample and barely touched my throat / back of mouth and came back negative. I was sent home without a prescription for antibiotics and told to come back (for another copay of course) in a few days. I went elsewhere, tested positive same day, and was given a prescription. Additionally, your urgent care wanted to test me for other illnesses, despite my only exposure being strep, and my symptoms being exactly the symptoms of strep. I felt like a number and a copay, and was rushed out the door. I was really excited about this urgent care opening near my house, but now I’m reluctant to return.

Nice and capable staff for Covid 19 test. Very busy, so a bit of a wait for callbacks and when at site, and needed to call at site to get staff to come to car. Signed up for antibody test beforehand but not available when I got there. I am glad because the test is up to $200, depending on how much insurance covers. Call insurance first for sure.

Seen for respiratory issue- thorough work up by HE NP. She was very knowledgeable and attentive.  Told me to f/u with my pulmonologist if symptoms worsen and told me how to use the medication she sent to pharmacy.  Worth the 15 min drive and 10/10 care here.  Highly recommended urgent care.

My daughter had a UTI on a holiday weekend.  We were able to walk in without an appointment and our wait was not very long. The staff was amazing starting with the receptionist right through to the nurses, Lab Tech and Doctor. They were friendly, kind, patient, efficient, very helpful and informative. They anticipated our needs and were extremely welcoming. Sarah went home with the treatment she needed and a big smile on her face. So did I.   We would highly recommend AFC to anyone looking for medical care. It was the best emergency care experience we ever received.

Overview of STD Testing in Nashua

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). This includes individuals in Nashua, NH, regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation. According to the CDC, certain groups may be at higher risk for STDs, including young people aged 15-24, men who have sex with men, and individuals with multiple sexual partners. Regular testing is crucial for these high-risk groups. However, it's important to note that STDs do not discriminate, and anyone can be affected.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a critical aspect of maintaining your overall health. Many STDs do not show symptoms, making regular testing the only way to detect them. Early detection allows for prompt treatment, which can prevent long-term health issues such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV transmission. Additionally, knowing your STD status can help protect your sexual partners from potential exposure.

Std testing options in Nashua, NH:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care centers and walk-in clinics offer quick and convenient STD testing services. For instance, PhysicianOne Urgent Care in nearby Waltham, MA, is highly rated and easily accessible. Through Solv, you can book same-day and next-day appointments at this location.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also conduct STD testing. They can provide you with a comprehensive understanding of your health, including your risk for STDs. If you don't have a primary care provider, Solv can help you find one in the Nashua area.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often provide free or low-cost STD testing. These centers are vital resources for individuals who may not have insurance or who cannot afford testing otherwise.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits are another option. These kits can be ordered online, used in the privacy of your own home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. This option offers convenience and privacy, but it's important to ensure the kit is from a reputable source.

Prevalence of STDs in Nashua

While specific data for Nashua is not readily available, Middlesex County, where Nashua is located, has seen a rise in STD rates in recent years, mirroring national trends. According to the CDC, the most commonly reported STDs are chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Regular testing is crucial to combat the spread of these diseases.

Risk factors related to STDs in Nashua

Several factors contribute to the spread of STDs in Nashua and the surrounding areas. These include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, substance abuse, and lack of access to healthcare services. It's important to note that nearby cities such as Hudson, Merrimack, East Merrimack, Pelham, and Londonderry may also influence the STD rates in Nashua due to their proximity. Therefore, comprehensive sexual health education and easily accessible testing services are vital in these areas.
