Scheduling appt was easy, wait time after arriving was an hour after scheduled appt time. Once brought into exam room everything was addressed in an appropriate amount of time and received results quickly. Staff were all nice but would appreciate if they could update people in waiting room when they are running late and what the expected wait time is for people waiting to be seen

Overview of STD Testing in Bay Shore

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). This includes both individuals who are currently experiencing symptoms and those who are not. Some STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning they do not present any noticeable symptoms. However, they can still be transmitted to sexual partners and can cause health complications if left untreated. It's also important for pregnant women to get tested, as STDs can have severe effects on unborn babies, according to the CDC.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a crucial part of maintaining your overall health. Early detection and treatment can prevent long-term health problems such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV infection. Regular testing also helps to prevent the spread of these diseases to others. According to the CDC, many STDs are on the rise in the United States, making regular testing more important than ever.

Prevalence of STDs in Bay Shore

According to the CDC, the prevalence of STDs in Bay Shore, and more broadly in Suffolk County, has been increasing over the past few years. This trend mirrors the national increase in STD rates. It's important to note that these figures only represent reported cases, and the actual number of infections may be higher due to underreporting.

Risk factors related to STDs in Bay Shore

Several risk factors may contribute to the prevalence of STDs in Bay Shore. These include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and lack of regular testing. Socioeconomic factors such as lack of access to healthcare, stigma associated with STD testing, and lack of education about sexual health can also play a role. It's crucial to address these risk factors to reduce the spread of STDs in the community.
