Everything was good except for one thing... She did the quick results in front of me and I was very surprised and unprepared for one of the results to be a non-negative. It turned out to be because of a prescription that I'm on. It was very unsettling. They should ask about prescriptions and/or provide a list of medications that will affect the results. We have enough anxiety in society already.

Overview of STD Testing in Gresham

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially those with multiple partners or those who engage in unprotected sex. According to the CDC, specific age groups are more at risk, with young people aged 15-24 accounting for half of the 20 million new sexually transmitted infections that occur in the United States each year. Even if you are in a monogamous relationship, it's still recommended to get tested as some STDs can remain dormant and undetected for years.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for several reasons. Early detection can prevent serious health complications such as infertility, cancer, and organ damage. Many STDs are asymptomatic, meaning they show no signs or symptoms, so regular testing is the only way to know for sure if you're infected. Additionally, knowing your status can help prevent the spread of STDs to others.
