I’ve been here 3 times this year for different issues. The doctor is thorough and explains everything well. She is a very caring person. I could go to a place that’s close to my house but I like Prima a lot more —I’ve seen the same doctor each time, they give you personal attention, and I’ve never had to wait more than about 10 minutes.

My daughter was mis-diagnosed for strep and given an antibiotic. When the lab also came back negative, rapid was negative, no one called me With results to take her off the antibiotic. Her symptoms worsened and her pediatrician diagnosed her with walking pneumonia. This was the second times antibiotics were prescribed when a rapid strep test was negative. The staff is always kind there but the medical treatment has not been good lately.

The facility is exceptionally clean. Wait time was a bit longer than expected but the doctor spent a lot of time with us so I understand the wait. We left satisfied that we had all of the meds and care we needed — thank you!

I was in and out in no time. It’s a fairly new facility. The family nurse practitioner, Emelda, was wonderful. Great bedside manner. Offered options for treatment that she explained very well as to the pros and cons of each. If you live or work in the neighborhood, this is the place to go.

Overview of STD Testing in Fairfax

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). This includes individuals who are in monogamous relationships, as STDs can remain dormant for years before showing symptoms. Additionally, those who have multiple sexual partners, or whose partners have multiple partners, are at a higher risk and should get tested regularly. It's also important for pregnant women to get tested, as some STDs can be passed from mother to child during childbirth.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a crucial part of maintaining your overall health. Many STDs do not show symptoms in the early stages, so regular testing is the only way to know for sure if you have been infected. Early detection and treatment can prevent serious health complications, such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Additionally, knowing your status can help prevent the spread of STDs to others.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits are another option. These kits can be purchased online or in some pharmacies, and allow you to take the test in the privacy of your own home. The samples are then sent to a lab for testing, and the results are provided online or over the phone.

According to the CDC, the prevalence of STDs in Fairfax is consistent with national trends, with rates of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis on the rise. Compared to nearby counties such as Fayette County and Morris County, Fairfax has a higher rate of STDs. This could be due to a variety of factors, including population density and access to healthcare.

Risk factors related to STDs in Fairfax

Risk factors for STDs in Fairfax include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and drug use.
