I didn't feel any time was put into figuring out what was wrong. I spent a total of 5 minutes with the NP and was sent on my way. I came in with a sore throat and pain on that side of my face. He took a quick look and said it didn't look like strep and asked if I wanted to take a covid test and that was pretty much it. I cannot say if the cost was what I expected as I have not received a bill.

Wonderful experience! I am new to the area and didn’t know who to see for my health care. I went to Physicians Care and was so glad I did! I was in and out within an hour and that included a strep test and COVID-19 test with results while I was there! The staff was very attentive, friendly and professional. I will definitely continue to go there for ongoing health care!

I have a wonderful PC in Knoxville but was at my daughters 2 mi from Sevierville TN AFC. I have used them several times as well as the one in Fountain City AFC. They never disappoint & I received excellent care from the time I walk in the door. I usually make an appointment ahead to shorten waiting & fill out the paperwork online. The MA that checked me in as well as the doctor were very thorough. I was quite sick with a respiratory COPD flare up & prescribed proper meds. You WILL receive excellent care. I was in & out in one hour & that included results of flu, strept & COVID tests. Try to remember if you do have to wait they are humans & sometimes they have staff out sick too.

I don't think she checked me thoroughly enough. She didn't check for covid, strep or the flu. I was in and out in under 30 mins. Hopefully the meds she prescribed actually works.

Arrived at the Scottsdale location and was immediately greeted by desk reception. Person explained the process and I started to register using a QR Code. Registration process was quick and easy. I was even able to take a photo of my driver’s license and insurance card to upload. I was in the waiting room for roughly 5-10 minutes before being called into the treatment area. That was so fast that I barely had enough time to complete the registration….awesome! The triage person took my vitals, asked why I was being seen, and swabbed my throat for strep. Not the friendliest person but she performed her services well. I was then taken to an exam room where I waited for less that 5 minutes for a provider who entered into the room to exam and diagnose me. Ryan was his name and he was a FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner). Great guy with a great bedside manner too. Explained everything extremely well and I was discharged within another 5 minutes. I waited in the patient waiting room for another 2 minutes for my discharge paperwork. The whole visit took virtually no time. The facility was extremely clean and everyone was required to wear a mask. Thru accept tons of insurance plans and because I had met my deductible, I was not required to pay for anything. I would highly recommend using this Urgent Care Facility and I would not hesitate to return should I need to be seen in the future.

Went in for covid test. They also gave me flu and strep tests. Very kind staff. I honestly didnt expect an exam, but got tests and an exam and prescription. . I was there about an hour. Waited 10 mins in my car. Majority of wait time was test results which is out of their control. Prompt and friendly.

This was the first visit to this clinic. The facility was clean. My son was tested for flu and strep which was surprisingly negative since he could not swallow due to his throat being so incredibly sore. The doctor did not prescribe antibiotics in which I feel that an extremely sore throat with excessive green phlegm was really needed. She only prescribed mouth wash and something for occasional cough. He still 2 days later has an extreme sore throat so not really sure what move to make next.

Online This time the nurse that tested for COVID flu and strep was efficient with testing so it was less bothersome and less painful. She was a pro. The office should buy her shoes for her as a gift.

On 3-23-21 I awoke with laryngitis and chest congestion with a cough and sought immediate medical attention to rule out pneumonia. It was easy to secure an appointment on line. DeAnna greeted me at the front desk and took my insurance information and informed me because of an unexpected demand in care it would be an hour to an hour and a half wait. She suggested waiting in my car since I had a cough and I enjoyed reading my book during this time. DeAnna informed me they would call me when they were ready to see me and I could come in the back door. In one hour, I was called and conveniently greeted in the back door and immediately seen by Kelly who took my medical history and vitals. Dr. Doug Batchelor ruled out Covid 19, a Strep infection, and pneumonia to my relief and I was treated with an antibiotic and medication for cough. Dr. Batchelor and staff were extremely professional and kind and attentive. I would recommend this clinic to anyone.

Just a couple of people ahead of me it didn’t take long at all. The staff was very considerate and friendly. Was my second visit and was pleasant both times. I did bring my son there once for a sore throat, they swabbed him for Covid but did not check him for strep throat. Had to take him to the ER two days later because his throat was so swollen and so many sores inside his mouth. In the future y’all may want to check for both.

The staff were very kind and patient with my 5 year old son who did not want any part of his strep test.

We were in town only for the day when my daughter’s throat got much worse. It was easy to get in to be seen, great social distancing, acceptable wait time, and friendly staff. The nurse testing for strep and Covid did a wonderful job at calming my daughter down.

Was told my strep test would take 5 mins and I waited for 40.

Easy Covid-19 test and strep. Convenient. Great and caring staff.

Connie is wonderful per usual! :) I've been fighting off the flu and strep for a week, and now it has developed into pneumonia. Jessica K was great with the shots I received. I barely felt a thing on the Rocephin injection. The NP knew within seconds I was dealing with pneumonia and quickly adapted my treatment plan and medications. Everyone was so sweet. Ooltewah location will always be the best.

I came in with a sore throat and a lose of voice. Assuming I had COVID or strep I decided to go to Baptist Health Urgent Care on Zero Street, Fort Smith AR. The nurse who took my blood pressure and swabbed for test was very nice. Sadly I didn’t get to catch her name. Though the nurse practitioner Scott was amazing during my appointment. He was very friendly, caring and professional. Unfortunately I was confirmed positive with COVID and there isn’t much you can do with a viral infection. He was nice enough to prescribe me some medication to help with my aching sore throat. The only downsides to my visit today was the wait time but when you have so many people walking in, you’re expected to wait longer. Also, the app seems to be glitched out, after I checked in I could see the wait list and what position I’m in. The app decides to not give me the link to check on it after an hour or so past. All in all, I had a wonderful experience. A reminder to all the health workers that you’re doing an amazing job!

Dyersburg Strep Tests

To establish whether you have group A or group B strep, strep tests are commonly employed. Strep throat is caused by the bacteria Group A strep, which is a sore throat infection. Although Group B strep bacteria can be present in the vaginal area, as well as the digestive and urinary systems, it rarely causes symptoms.

Your doctor may order a strep A test if you have symptoms of strep throat, such as a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, fever, or enlarged lymph nodes. Both a rapid and a traditional strep test can be used to diagnose Strep A, and both are performed in the same way.

During a strep A test, you will be instructed to tilt your head back and open your mouth wide. A tongue depressor will be used to gently keep your tongue down while a long swab is used to take a tissue sample from the back of your throat. The strep A test is harmless and rapid, although it might be uncomfortable. The quick strep test provides results in minutes, but the standard test takes one to two days to complete.

Only pregnant women between the ages of 36 and 37 weeks are usually tested for strep B. Because Group B strep dwells in the vaginal and rectum, it can be passed on to a newborn as it travels through the birth canal. A swab or a urine sample can be used to test for strep B.

During a strep B swab test, you or your doctor will collect tissue and fluid samples from your vaginal and rectum using a cotton swab. For a strep B urine test, your doctor will ask you to urinate into a sterile cup. After that, your sample will be sent to a laboratory for further analysis, with results arriving in one to two days.

Your doctor will consult with you to establish the best course of action if your strep test is positive. Antibiotics are often used to treat infections such as strep A and strep B. Antibiotics are commonly administered to a mother with strep B during delivery through an IV line to prevent the infection from spreading to her baby.

Strep Test FAQs

  • How long does a strep test take in Dyersburg?

A strep test usually only takes a few minutes. A throat swab is used for the strep A test, whereas a cotton swab or a urine sample is used for the strep B test. Your healthcare provider can tell you how long your strep test will take based on the procedure used.

  • What happens if you test positive for group B strep?

Adults seldom show symptoms or get sick with Group B strep, but it can be dangerous for newborns. Antibiotics are commonly given to pregnant women who test positive for group B strep to keep the illness from spreading to the baby as it goes through the birth canal. Because the infant will not be exposed to germs in the delivery canal, antibiotics are not required for women with group B strep who are having a scheduled Cesarean section.

  • How much does a strep test cost in Dyersburg?

A strep test's price is influenced by a variety of criteria, including provider rates, the type of test (throat swab, vaginal swab, or urinalysis), geographic region, and if your health plan covers this treatment. Getting an estimate from your health insurance company or the step test company is the quickest way to figure out how much a strep test will cost.

  • Does insurance cover strep testing in Dyersburg?

Most health insurance companies will cover the cost of strep testing, particularly if your doctor believes it is medically necessary based on your symptoms and current health state. Contact your insurance carrier directly to learn more about your coverage and benefits, or ask your strep testing provider if they can do a complimentary insurance benefits check on your behalf.

  • How do they test for strep throat?

The strep throat A test can be conducted to determine whether or not you have strep throat. Your doctor will initially ask you to sit back in your chair and open your mouth wide. Then, using a long cotton swab, they'll extract a tissue sample from the back of your throat. This testing approach is used in both the rapid and normal strep A tests.

  • How long does it take to get strep test results?

The rapid test for strep A takes 10 to 20 minutes to complete, whereas the standard test takes 24 to 48 hours. A strep B test normally takes 24 to 48 hours to produce results. Your doctor or the strep test provider can give you a clearer idea of when you should expect your results.

  • What is a rapid strep test?

A rapid strep test can only be used to diagnose group A strep. This test looks for antigens, which are chemicals that elicit an immune response. A rapid strep test is similar to a standard strep test in that it delivers you results in minutes rather than days. A throat swab was used as a test.

  • How accurate is the rapid strep test?

A fast strep test can provide a trustworthy result. Some practitioners may order a classic strep A test if the quick test results are negative and the patient has multiple symptoms of strep throat. A standard strep A throat culture test is more accurate than a rapid strep A test, but it takes longer to acquire the results.

  • Where should I get a strep test in Dyersburg?

Strep testing is available from a variety of healthcare providers, including your primary care physician and urgent care clinics. If you're pregnant, a specialist such as a midwife or an OB-GYN may do the strep B test for you or refer you to one. You may also use Solv to find a lab in your area that provides high-quality strep tests and make an appointment for the same day.
