The room number 4 smelled like wet dogs. The doctor has very less experience, she doesn’t have to know everything but she needed to google more before to meet with patients. The front desk woman was nice when we checked in and out.

Have a physician 3 in the office and not one could see me in weeks time. Pitiful. I was out of town, flying back in late Friday. My daughter got on and had me an appointment immediately. Saturday morning I was at your clinic pronto. Soar throat, ears, hurting, feeling like crap. You were all wonderful, professional, and quick. With the prescriptions I got by evening I felt like a new person. I'm sorry I didn't get your names but you were great! Merry Christmas and Happy new year to you all.

The receptionist and the PA on duty for the day were awesome. The check in process was effortless and I was seen very quickly. The attention to detail referenced my visit and the care provided. I am visiting relatives from out of state and was welcomed with a smile and staff resolved my issues quickly. Cleanliness of the facility, everything had its place and staff worked well together. Great place to visit and have your medical needs attended too. Thank you,

Took a spill and feared a broken bone in my hand. South Huron Urgent Care took great care of me. Waited about five minutes to be seen. Dr Cindy is great!! X-rayed, splinted and I'm ready to go, with follow up instructions that she went over with me.  She showed me the x-ray, and explained what was going on. They took time and care with me. Office staff is friendly and personable too. Highly recommend!!

Walked in and asked for a bandage change. I was checked in within a couple minutes. And, before I could sit down, I was being ushered to a room. I provided a little history of the wound and the attendant removed the existing bandage & packing, cleaned the area, and skillfully repacked the wound. Thank you. You have a good team in place at this facility. As "Arnold" once said, "I'll be back". I am recommending your facilities everyone in our community. Thank you all.

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

This was an exceptional experience. Gary Schulte, NP made our visit very beneficial. He immediately identified that we had problems other than a request for a COVID test. We left feeling that someone cared about us and gave us suggestions as to how to handle problems related to our current medical and emotional problems. We were very blessed to have Gary Schulte for this visit.

First time getting COVID tested. Experience was great, Amazing staff, they work as fast as they possibly can. Waiting time was about 4-5 hours because of the current time we are going through. I entered the front office to place myself on waitlist and inserted all my person information and insurance. My insurance covered the rapid COVID-19 test. (Blue Care Network). We waited in a car until we got a call to come in for the test. I was in and out in 10 min. Results approximately take 20-30 min. Doctor seen us from inside our car after testing. They have a pharmacy right next door where we picked up any medication if prescribed to you. (Amazing guy at the pharmacy too). Will recommend to arrive early, be patient and please be nice to all staff, I promise they are trying there best. They are human too! I appreciate every employee there! Keep doing what you are doing! Thank you very much! Best of luck!

I’m so glad I went to the Beaumont ER for my covid test. Was nervous to go there! Don’t be! Wow! So clean/so safe! Was immediately taken back to nice private room (the waiting room is kept empty) where I was quickly hooked up to EKG and oximetry for the whole visit. No,I was not in distress. First the mouth swab and IV for lab work. Mouth swab neg. and was administered the nasal swab (24-48 hrs).Saw the Dr. on board; listened to lungs. Share that everything so far looks great! All standard procedure. Was experiencing shortness of breath (not at that time) with previous *** diagnosis of early stage emphysema). SOB standard reason for chest X-ray and IV prednisone (took two seconds). So thorough! Script had been sent to my pharmacy for a new albuterol inhaler (old one is MIA) and 5 days of pred. Picked up on my way home. I recommend this for anyone needing testing; the walk in clinics where you swab yourself or relying on the quick test mouth swab isn’t reliable, as told to me now by three of my Dr’s. Highly recommend

Went for Covid testing. The nurse who helped me was awesome! She knew what she was doing and she had great bed side manner, aka: personality. I'd go there again.

- Verified patient on 3/15

First time visiting this location. I was just going to come in for a Covid test, not expecting to see anyone except the nurse that was performing the Covid test. But to my surprise, I actually was able to see a nurse practitioner. I’m so glad that nurse practitioner, Jen, was available because she was very helpful and informative and really took the time to talk and listen as I had some other issues going on that she addressed. Also the nurse, Renee, was awesome. Very patient, kind and professional, as well as the front desk staff. My visit there was a 10! And I left with a full printout of the summary of my visit with all the written instructions. I highly recommend this location.

My only previous experience for COVID testing was, I showed up 8 minutes before my appointment, checked in, was asked to come in, went in, and temp taken, swabbed and was put in less than one minute! That is what I expected! But, I arrived, as advised, 10 minutes before my appointment. I was told to come in. And what time do you want to say that I was finally seen? 40 minutes total! Unacceptable! I was extremely upset! And then, your staff decided to checked my blood pressure after driving on Grand River with moron drivers, one who nearly collided with me, sitting for 40 minutes, being subjected to something that I did not want, having a full bladder! Frankly, your operation completely upset me! Personally, it was pure and utter bullshit!. All that I wanted was to walk in at my appointed time, sit down and have my temp checked, swabbed and walk out! I became completely frustrated and has to use tremendous restraint to maintain some level of civility. I returned home and checked my blood pressure, after urinating, finally, and relaxing. Would you like to guess how far my blood pressure decreased? How about 70 and 35! So, that is what my experienced did to me! Unacceptable! I am certain that you can guess my answer to the next question. If not, your staff are inconsiderate morons. No, I would NOT recommend this facility, PERIOD!

Lady who did me and my husband’s Covid tests today was very efficient and quick. I feel really bad because I mentioned that the lady who did it the last 2 times was more gentle. After thinking about it I think maybe the kind of swab was what caused the difference in experience as the lady was not unkind in anyway, even after I inelegantly said ‘ahhh, the other lady was more gentle’ after she did my first nostril. Even after my blunder she was as careful as she could be on my other nostril and was as careful as possible with my husband (his first covid test where he did not swab it himself). Not sure if this will get to the lady who did our tests, but if possible please tell her thank you and I’m sorry.

I waited just shy of 2 hours for a rapid Covid test…when you don’t feel good that’s a long time. At 9:21 I spoke with someone inside and informed them that I was in spot 18, she replied that someone would be out to get my license and insurance. One hour later someone called to ask if I was there. Explained again I was in spot 18, she said she’d be right out. Many minutes more she came and got my license and insurance card., then returned them. I got a call about my symptoms and why I was there and then directed to go around the back of the building. Just shy of 2 hours I got my results and left. 2 hours is a long long wait. Otherwise your staff could not of been nicer or more accommodating. Maybe you can work on the check in procedures? Thank you for helping me.

Doctor was great. I should have been told you were only able to preform a rapid Covid test… now I have to start over! Wasted my time, medical assistant were very immature and not professional at all. Back to me the whole time asking questions, could hear them talking about other patients in the hallway.

- Verified patient on 11/11

the nurse administered the covid test and the pa who consulted us on it were great however the nurse/tech who initially met with us in the exam room to check vitals wasn’t apparently having a great day... she first asked if anything changed with my son’s chart... to the lay person, we didn’t really understand her question and i’m not sure we answered correctly... she then asked what his weight and height after walking past the scale and height measurement device to get to the exam room... lastly, she didn’t share his vitals with us before leaving but just closed her laptop and said the nurse would be in... i said thank you very clearly but she didn’t even acknowledge my gratitude... as noted, probably having a rough day as the clinic was busy but thought you should know

This is a wonderful option for people who are unable to meet with their primary for urgent concerns. I have also utilized this urgent care office multiple times for covid testing. They are always kindly accommodating to my specific needs. The wait time was not bad at all! I expected to wait much longer as we were delayed for the appointment arrival time. With covid concerns and in need of testing they were still able to accommodate me and my s/o for testing. Cinnamon has been a great provider to us at the Springfield Urgent Care. Her bedside manner and compassionate care shines through. She explained what was going on to the best of her knowledge with the symptoms we have and has provided us with guidance and a care plan to assist in fighting off whatever cold or virus we have. It seems that she truly cares about helping people well. I would definitely recommend this urgent care to my friends, family, or even a stranger looking for local care. Receptionists were friendly and accommodating as well. It think it's been my 3rd or 4th visit there. The consistency of quality of care is impressive. I'm so happy this urgent care is available in my area as pinckney/hamburg/whitmore lake residents now have and option other that going to a hospital in Ann Arbor. Keep up the fabulous care!

After reading reviews and calling around for pricing, I landed here as I thought I'd have to pay for my test (and insurance wouldn't cover). And my experience was fantastic! The online booking system was somewhat difficult but I muddled through. There were plenty of appointment times available and days. They were ready for me exactly at my appointment time when I arrived. I also liked that its easy to find with signs and you remain outside. The people there were SO pleasant and nice - they guided me what to do, and were happy to help. Results were fast and easy to retrieve. And insurance covered it after all! If I ever need another covid test, I'm coming back here.

I went in for a covid test and they were quick, attentive, thorough and very professional.

- Verified patient on 3/3

Overall it was a good experience. Very short due to all that was needed is just setting up a scheduled time to get swabbed. Having to set up a virtual visit to book a time for a COVID test I understand is probably a way to control the chaos and flow, but I also see this as a money grab as well for the convenience fo booking a time slot vs just waiting and hoping for not a large queue as a walk in. Since it requires a virtual visit that means that more than likely this counts as an "office visit" which then means there's a copay literally just to have a doctor say, "Yep, we'll have a scheduler reach out to you". Thankfully I have insurance to help cover whatever the copay might be. I understand that this is probably bigger than a Beaumont Urgent Care concern, but I just wanted to share my view on this.

Easy COVID testing facility.

Stop acting like my primary physician. If I wanted to come back I would have gone to see my primary doctor. I had a sore throat which my son past on to me. He was prescribed an antibiotic. Your young doctor told me to get a COVID test( my only symptom was a sore throat) and prescribed lidocaine and cleaning my throat with salt water. Funny thing is my son gave me one of his antibiotics and I am feeling much better. Total waste of my time. I went to the urgent care because I needed an antibiotic. My throat was so sore I could barely eat. That is why I needed urgent care not my primary physician.

- Verified patient on 3/13

Despite receiving multiple texts to remind me of my appointment, when I arrived, the office was closed. I needed a Covid test, and had a difficult time finding an appointment in the first place. It was extremely frustrating to not be notified of the office closing.

- Verified patient on 11/14

I went in for covid test. I waited 2 hours. I was attended to asap once I got called in. I had a bad cough and was seen fir that after the test. I appreciated the extra care.

Total time there over 3 hours .. for a covid test !!!!!! Doc said she called in prescription , antibiotics, to pharmacy . Pharmacy only received one med , and not the antibiotic. Four hours later - found myself on hold with call center for 20 mins - so they can relay message to doc to get proper meds to pharmacy !! Office was complete cluster !!

Staff went.above & beyond to get me in for a Covid test. From the front desk all the way to the exam room everyone was kind, helpful and no runny nose or watery eyes from the swab (Awesome nurse!!). Great service🙂

Brighton COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Brighton?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Brighton?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Brighton-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Brighton?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Brighton including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Brighton?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Brighton-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Brighton?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Brighton are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Brighton?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Brighton?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
