After 3 days of not feeling well went to our nearest AFC UC and was greeted with friendly faces and helpful staff. Confirmed my illness with testing by Breyahana and meds sent to my pharmacy (although not a lot of explanation about meds by NP Perry - just advised to take them b/c of age related to diagnosis.) In/out in less than 35 minutes. Overall satisfied with our visit!

Recent Urgent Care Reviews (20)

I'm leaving a review because although my overall experience was great both of the 2 times I have gone to this urgent care I have had great difficulty filling my prescriptions that the doctor gives me due to the urgent care not completing procedure on their end to fulfill the needs of the Veterans Affairs Urgent Care Benefit Criteria. Both the pharmacy and the insurance have to end up calling the urgent care themselves to try to get them to fix it. I am using the Veteran's Affairs urgent care system benefit and that only allows the release of the medications if the urgent care contacts the insurance to inform them I have come in for the urgent care visit. I even gave the front desk a heads up that this was a issue last time and that I hoped it wouldn't happen again because it really does tie up the rest of the process before I went in for my appointment but when I went to collect my medications I found out it happened again. I was left waiting at the pharmacy for 3 hours while the pharmacist tried to contact everyone, we even called the urgent care and they said they would do it but it wasn't completed. I decided to then not call back again and try to coordinate between the three parties again and go back and forth for hours because the last time I had done that it took me a combined 9 hours and 3 days. I paid without insurance for my medicine which was expensive because I am sick and I am tired. Next time I go in I really need to talk to the person who is responsible for putting this part in so that I dont have to keep going through this. It is very much avoidable. I know it is a new and confusing program but I would be more than happy to get them on the phone with the person who can teach them the proper steps to submit the protocol for the Veterans Affairs insurance. I was on hold for 30 minutes the last time the insurance rep explained it to someone over there.

I am a nurse who has spent my 22 year career working in a medical office/clinic, specifically family medicine, pediatrics and ob/gyn. I'd like to think that I am pretty knowledgeable with the internal workings of an office, and have experienced both well run and greatly mismanaged, even hostile work environments. When I say that my appointment today at AFC provided me with the best patient experience to date, I mean it wholeheartedly. From my first interaction with the kind front office staff, who didn't immediately turn me away, despite it being explained to me that their schedule was full. Instead they were professional and compassionate and sought out a provider to ask if it would be possible for me to be seen. That simple act of caring and effort they made for me spoke to the quality of this practice's employees. I was given as appointment and was explained to that I may need to wait an hour. After being turned away from my primary doctor's office and 3 other urgent care facilities already that day...and needing a medical exam, I was so grateful and had no issues with the wait. It was not 10 minutes of waiting before I was called back to the exam room to be seen, and was greeted again, with another professional and kind employee...the nurse who triaged me. She was friendly, skilled, patient, efficient and most of all, compassionate to my needs. I was then greeted by the PA, who I only waited minutes to see. And again, I'm listened to by another employee of AFC who provided me with such kindness, professionalism and exceptional and efficient care. My appointment ended at the checkout receptionist, and for my fourth professional, kind, compassionate and positive interaction with this office's staff. I can tell you that the owner/managers of AFC Fuquay Varina are stellar and it's quite obvious that their staff love their workplace, and it absolutely makes the level of patient care top-notch! I will absolutely choose AFC exclusively in the future for my family and my urgent medical needs! Thank you all...I am truly grateful and over-satisfied with the care provided to me today.

Awesome Experience! Efficient, Professional, clean, friendly and Safe!!! I went in during the major explosion of Covid. Masks REQUIRED! To prevent contamination, the stafff asked me to wait in my car and would send me a text when they were ready for me. I had went to Fast med and they had told me they could not see me as they were too busy and they had over a 5 hour wait. The ER when I called said 5-9 hours. I did have to wait about 45 minutes, but had a super efficient visit. I was called in taken straight to an exam room where I could still smell the cleaning agents. After a brief history of my problem, the nurse left and provider was in after a short wait. The provider was super friendly , very, very thorough ( spent about 15 minutes with me, then sent me across the hallway (5 steps) to the lab where the lab gal did her thing and also took a chest film then I was back in the room. Within about 15 more minutes the provider was back in , reviewed my findings and said he would electronically send in my RX, and reviewed a discharge summary with me as well as emailing a copy of my visit to my email. I can not say enough about the quality of this office and would definitely return when I am in need! Forest Hills Immediate Care is the top urgent Care facility in town, I will be establishing there as a new primary care patient as they are one of the few clinics from what I have seen that accepts new patients. With the current concern of COVID -19, I was VERY hesitant to go to any urgent care as a mother and a health care professional. As a health care professional, my biggest concern was a packed waiting room full of sick kids, therefore, making the wait long and exposing my son and myself to infected children and or parents. But this not the case, we were greeted by a friendly receptionist res[onsibly wearing a mask and taken directly to an exam room. The exam room was CLEAN. The nurse came in almost immediately and engaged with my 11 yr old son professionally and sympathetically as he discussed his ear pain. She efficiently took his vitals and history and then explained to us the wait time(2 patients in front of us), and she assured us it would be 15 min. Exactly, 15 min later, the doctor came in, introduced herself to all of us, and proceeded to examine my son. Talking to him empathetically and reassuring him the medicine would make his ear feel better soon. She took into consideration that pharmacies were closed and proactively gave our son a dose of antibiotics until we could get his medication in the morning. This experience was the BEST urgent care experience I have EVER had!. I only wish they saw adults. This facility should be a model for all critical care offices great model

Dr. Steen was great. He took the time to answer all of my questions, and then he evaluated all of the information to make a thorough diagnosis. He obviously cares about his patients as individuals, and demonstrated compassion toward me and my situation. He made me feel like I was his only patient, and never felt rushed. He is a credit to the medical field. My initial video screening with the nurse practitioner was not so positive. He didn't seem to care about me as a person, and played down my symptoms, saying that it was probably just seasonal allergies, and that it was probably too early for antibiotics. To put it bluntly, he was flat out wrong, and I needed a prescription of antibiotics for a nasty ear infection. So my experience with him was completely uninspiring and worthless. Thanks to Dr. Steen, I got the expert care that I needed. The rest of the support staff was very friendly and professional. So overall, this was a great experience, in spite of the rough start with the nurse practitioner. And yes, I would gladly recommend your urgent care center to my friends and family. Thank you!

Was very sick with strep throat, which they confirmed with a culture. I returned a day or so later because my chest was in severe pain and I had difficulty taking a deep breath which felt similar to a previous experience when I’d broken a rib and punctured a lung. To be safe, I requested chest X-rays because I wanted to rule out a punctured lung. I was told the Xrays looked fine, but ended up having pneumonia, which I discovered a few days later at the ER. The staff at Mercy Urgent Care were quick and very friendly, and to be fair, I cannot be sure the pneumonia would have shown up on the Xrays yet and maybe that wasn’t what they were looking for or expecting to see so it would have been easier to miss even if it was there already, but it not being seen meant that I was on the wrong antibiotics for almost a week which allowed me to get significantly sicker and I also now have thousands of dollars in hospital bills.

This was one of the best medical appointments I’ve been to in a long time. I was visiting from out-of-state. It was my first experience with medical care in North Carolina and had no clue where this facility was located. To my surprise, it was super easy to find. I was greeted by a very helpful and friendly staff member who explained how the appointment would be conducted, then politely asked me to wait in my my car until my appt. time. It was maybe a 2-3 min. wait (I arrived early as instructed). The nurse who took all my info and vitals was very thorough and pleasant. The doctor was as well. We had a pleasant conversation while discussing my medical concern. I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the facility. It was a very pleasant visit and I wish I could return for future medical needs. THANK YOU to the staff at AFC Urgent Care at Indian Trail.

This is my favorite place to get care for my sick child. It is an urgent care, so you may have to wait just due to nature of the needs of others and what may need more urgent attention. BUT while you wait in the cleanest rooms ever, the nurses will check on you multiple times and your sick child will be comfortable. Then you will receive the best care with so much information! And the bedside manner is the best I have ever experienced. My kid loves it there. You are not rushed in any way. You leave with a wealth of information and confidence that your child has been attended to properly. The PA we saw on the last visit gave me more feedback and more care than my child's actual pediatrician. ALL of the staff is friendly, diligent, and helpful - from check in to check out.

My brother and I went to Afc for covid testing in July and it was quick clean and efficient. We meet Dr. Wyn. He thought my brothers cough sounded bad and did a chest xray. My brother has stage 3a lung cancer. We had gone to our primary care 3 times for the cough and my brother was told it was allergies. Without Dr. Wyn my brothers cancer would have been found to late. The doctors think they caught it just in time to save him. I went back to afc this morning and met Dr. Kelly, Suzette was my nurse. I have a sty and Dr. Kelly and his nurse were great. Afc is the only urgent care I will ever go to. Once you enter Afc everyone from the girls in the front to the doctors and nurses are top notch. I couldn't ask for better care.

This was our second time coming here with our 1 year old son. Both times we have had such an excellent experience! The staff are so friendly and kind and they do so well with our son. The facility is super clean and organized and we’re always taken back very quickly. I have recommended this place to other local parents because I really think it is the best. No one wants to have to make a late night urgent care trip but if and when we do have to, the staff here take such good care of us and always make us feel so much better about the situation. We appreciate them so much and I would not want to go anywhere else.

I come here all the time anytime for myself or my family need to be seen. Dr. Kelly was awesome he made sure my little girl was comfortable and happy the whole time. Even though he was the only provider working he didn’t rush her treatment at all. Ciara was the best too! Even though my daughter was having pain she made her smile and comfortable when it came time to do her X-ray and her EKG. From the check in with Talia and Carolyn to the check out with the CA Daniel, my child left with a smile on her face. I was very informed about my child’s diagnosis. I highly recommend this place for urgent care needs.

This is the best urgent care I have ever used. Whether it’s by virtual visit or in office visit, they rock! The drs and staff absolutely care about their patients and they do everything in their power to help. The dr I see on virtual visits is amazing! If he had a practice, I would be seeing him regularly. I have horrible health issues and every time I have seen him, he actually listens to me and tries to help me. If he does have a practice, please let me know? Thank you for genuinely caring for all of your patients! God bless everyone of you and I pray all of you guys stay safe!

I went in for back pain from a previous diagnosis for my neurologist, I had been trying to contact them for an appointment. My pain became unbearable and needed some temporary relief until an appointment could be made. The staff was very courteous, I had to wait an extra 30 minutes before being seen, but due to the current pandemic, this was understandable and the staff was more than happy to give me an update on when I would be seen. The bedside manner of the nurse and LNP was exceptional. They were nice and very compassionate of my condition. I will definitely be using Mercy urgent care again if needed in the future.

From start to finish, the care was excellent! All team members spent a lot of time with our daughter and made sure we felt comfortable with the plan and her care. Everyone was very detail oriented and did a great job of explaining certain symptoms and what to look for as she recovers from her virus. I’ve already recommended this practice to my sister - who has a 2 year old - for her urgent care needs! Hopefully we won’t have to be back anytime soon, but we’ve definitely found our preferred urgent care practice. Thank you so much for your time and help for our little one! We can all rest easy tonight!

When my son became ill with an URI suddenly, I was able to schedule a telehealth appointment quickly. The visit was promptly started and the provider was efficient while being kind and attentive. We were advised to have a COVID swab done at our nearest Mercy Urgent Care, and we were tended to and our visit complete within 10 minutes of arrival. Every person along the way was friendly and helpful, and when I called back to ask more questions, my concern was heard and I felt the answer was kind and thorough. I am very pleased with our experience and would definitely recommend Mercy Urgent Care!

It was hard. Had trouble breathing with a mask (asthma). Wanted to fill out forms and deal with everything NOT virtually. So the receptionist let me have the forms in the car. I was there from 8 or so until noon. Dan (EMT) thawed and was fine as did the receptionist. Powell super friendly and appealing. X ray guy fine. Glad I went but not surprised that Covid test was negative and chest x ray ok. Thank God I wasn’t kicked out to be fobbed off on the ER because I did NOT want to go: I am not suicidal. 😜 Bravo Urgent Care! 👩‍🌾

I was surprisingly pleased with my visit today! All staff was friendly and informative. I'm a tough one to impress regarding customer care especially since Customer Service in general in Fayetteville is aweful. I cant say enough how well my visit went from checking in to me leaving. Its refreshing to be treated so kindly at an urgent care. My friend and I came in for a COVID test for travel but this kind of customer care matters the most especially when you dont feel well and need medical attention. If I ever need and urgent care again, Ill def come back to thos one!!

I will not go another urgent care after my experience here. My wife and I went for a Covid test after testing negative at a drive thru a week before. When they called us the nurse noticed my wife struggling and didn’t like her color and told them to put her in a room. The doctor came in and ordered an ekg and told me he had called EMS to come and transport her to the hospital. Our results came back positive before the ambulance arrived. These are the most alert an conscientious people I’ve ever encountered at an urgent care.

I didn’t know a urgent care for kids was a thing so originally took my son to A different urgent care and had the worst possible experience. When I got home my neighbor told us about this location so I brought my son here right away. What a difference!! Beyond friendly staff helped and jump on it right away. They were extremely sympathetic to my sick son and worked quickly to get him the care needed. This place is beyond incredible. I’m a first time mom so I know I get overly scared but they were so reassuring. Amazing.

I came to urgent care with two major problems I thought one is I want to get checked for Covid because I have very severe flu like symptoms Coughing up very green mucus and the second is my first finger on my left hand is very swollen and very sore and I wanted to get it checked I mentioned my finger to the lady that checked me and she said that looks awful and will have the nurse look at it no one again during my visit asked anything about my finger and I’m very disappointed

Urgent Care in North Carolina

More than 16 percent of North Carolina's residents live below the poverty line. That's larger than the U.S. average (14.3 percent). Studies have shown that poverty often makes it difficult for people to access primary care that encourages long-term health management. Urgent care centers and walk-in clinics, however, could help stabilize North Carolina's healthcare environment by giving residents affordable, immediate access to necessary healthcare services.

Practically every town in North Carolina has an urgent care center that can meet non-emergency needs. Some options include FastMed Urgent Care, which has locations throughout the state. Other urgent care providers in North Carolina include Carolina Quick Care, Medac Health Services, and MedAccess Urgent Care.

Urgent care centers offer patients a way to seek medical attention outside of typical business hours. If they suddenly feel sick, sustain a minor injury, or need medication, then they can get assistance from urgent care center without an appointment. These centers cost less than visiting an ER, which is good for anyone trying to avoid excessive fees.

North Carolina also has plenty of walk-in clinics. Many CVS pharmacies throughout the state have walk-in clinics called Minute Clinic. These clinics specialize in treating non-life-threatening illnesses at relatively low cost. If an uninsured person has a rash, flu symptoms, or other common ailments, staffs at walk-in clinics can usually diagnose the problem, prescribe medications, and recommend further treatments. A high poverty rate creates barriers to healthcare, but the urgent care centers and walk-in clinics of North Carolina make it easier for people of all income levels to seek adequate care without turning to emergency rooms.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • How much will an urgent care visit in North Carolina cost?

The price charged at an urgent care, whether in North Carolina or elsewhere, will be based on the location, and there are no actual standard costs between the clinics. Assuming you are paying with cash, you might come across an urgent clinic that charges you $50 while another situated some mile away charges you $100 for the same services. The standard cost in urgent care where insurance cover is not involved ranges from $100 to $125. This price is generally the standard price of a visit before extra services. There are a couple of additional care services that could make your appointment to an urgent care costly including x-rays and lab tests, medications and injections (such as immunization), casting broken bones, as well as stitches and splints. If you have a viable insurance plan in place, the standard pay will be between $20 – 50 depending on your insurance coverage and whether you are in contact with the provider.

  • Are North Carolina urgent care centers open after hours?

Most primary care doctor offices are open during routine work hours, Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Conversely, most of the urgent care centers in North Carolina are available after hours, on weekends, and many holidays. Typical urgent care hours are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily, although location-specific hours may vary.

  • Do urgent care centers in North Carolina take appointments?

Historically, urgent care centers were strictly an on-demand, walk-in healthcare service mode. More recently, as consumer behaviors and expectations have evolved, many urgent care clinics have begun offering book ahead visits, allowing consumers to select a same-day or next-day time that works best for their schedule. Use Solv to find a North Carolina urgent care center that offers advanced bookings (or appointments) and book online.

  • How do I book an appointment online with an urgent care in North Carolina?

Solv allows North Carolina residents and visitors to book urgent care visits online with just a few taps. Same-day and next-day visit times are generally available, and you can search for real-time availability clinics.

  • How can I find an urgent care in North Carolina who takes my insurance?

Virtual urgent care visits are generally booked online whether in advance or on-demand. Clinics that do offer virtual care have a video icon on their profiles.

  • What is the best urgent care center in North Carolina?

While it would be easy to provide a list of urgent care centers in and around North Carolina, 'best' is a challenging term to qualify. For some consumers, that could mean the closest location whereas other people may prioritize patient reviews, service costs, availability, or whether or not the provider accepts their insurance. With the list of locations above, use the filters provided to narrow the results to find the best urgent care for your needs.

  • What is Urgent Care?

Urgent care is available to assist patients that are looking for immediate, convenient medical care. In that manner, they are similar to an emergency room. The difference, however, is that ERs are meant to treat major, life-threatening injuries and illnesses while urgent care centers manage life’s minor bruises and bumps. In simple terms, an urgent care is seen as a walk-in health center that focuses in offering non-emergent health care conditions, including the treatment of the typical illnesses and injuries such as fractures and sprains, cuts and burns, scrapes, stings and bites, flu and cold symptoms, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, and much more. Most urgent care facilities offer both diagnostic and preventive care such as well visits, immunizations, STD testing and annual physicals. For regular visits and check-ups on these clinics, you should expect to pay between $20 and $100. The good thing is that most urgent care clinics will accept major PPOs and insurance cover, Medicare, as well as self-pay in the form of credit cards or cash. Urgent care clinics are located in most parts of the country in various regions to offset emergency room visits and provide a gap in healthcare services. They take patients during all hours of operations, which offer a significant convenience to most people who have and continue to undergo the need for sudden and immediate medical attention.
