I was very surprised with my experience here. My appointment was made very quickly. I was seen in a very short period of time. My test results came back in a very timely manner. I was able to speak with a doctor soon after and was taking care of. I was very satisfied with the experience I had here. I definitely recommend using them for any issues you have or any questions you may have.

Me and my family have been to Urgent Care many times for Covid testing but this was the first at this location. While your PA was extremely nice and caring, I can’t say the same of your front desk receptionist. We arrived on the day before Christmas eve without appointments because the phone recording clearly says that one was not necessary. She was totally unprofessional and rude, abrupt and out of line. My daughter was then able to schedule us for Christmas Day, but, again, the receptionist at the desk was unpleasant and abrupt in her demeanor. These are extremely difficult circumstances and every one is trying to cope to their abilities but a little compassion and understanding is certainly not much to ask from a health care agency. This is not the type of job someone should have if he/she doesn’t like dealing with the public, no matter the situation. Or, perhaps they should seek other employment that keeps them in a room with no social interaction. Urgent Care really needs to address how their receptionist staffing handles such matters if they’re going to see me in the future.

This care facility is a little gem. I made my appointment, checked in online and showed up at my scheduled time and there was virtually no wait. Admittedly, reception was a little dry, but I tossed it up to the strain of our current time. They all must be terribly exhausted. I remained cheerful and eventually they warmed up. The person who brought me back to the private room was also a bit cold, but again, was sure it was more about fatigue and their grueling response to COVID. The nurse practitioner however, was wonderful, made me feel very comfortable, answered all my questions, took the necessary COVID tests and offered to call me with the results so I wouldn't have to wait. I really appreciated that. She called fifteen minutes later and I was done. I will definitely be back as I prefer to schedule an appointment and not walk in and wait when I can't get to my primary care physician. Under normal circumstances, I would give them a four as the environment wasn't warm and welcoming however, I give them a five because despite the horrors of COVID and the risk they take everyday for many thankless guests, the fact that they can crack a smile at all is truly remarkable. I am grateful for the service they provided me and grateful for what they are doing for the world. Thank you ProHealth and best wishes to you all. You are absolute heroes.

I showed up as a walk in to get a Covid rapid test; the waiting room was clean and the receptionists were extremely decent, patient and kind! They signed me in and I then had an hour to do errands and I was texted to return and was seen shortly upon arrival ; the nurse was very gentle the Covid test was tolerable ( not nearly as unpleasant as I thought it might be!) my Covid test was negative; results came immediately and followed with an excellent follow up visit with nurse practitioner! I have only one other urgent care location to compare this with which was stuffy and unproductive; 3 staff were sitting around talking and there was little effort to meet my needs! While each visit I have made to This urgent care location has been Extrenely efficient and productive and positive!

Needed a covid test for my husband and myself to get into our oncology office for treatment after a possible exposure. Made appointment ahead of time for day 15. Our virtual visit was a phone call only because the video wasnt working and it turned out fine - went over everything with Matt at Mahopac. He then instructed us to proceed to the building with instructions upon arrival. We waited about 20 minutes to be swabbed. There were others ahead of us but everyone appeared to be cared for in a timely matter. We waited for the rapid result and the negative results were brought out to us after a 20 minute wait. Our swabs were sent out also because the oncologist needed documentation from the send out result. Less than 48 hours later I was called with a negative send out result. Also we had received an information packet at the time of the test that was very helpful. Overall an excellent and safe experience - Thank You !

The reason for our visit to get a covid test for my daughter. We had an advance appointment, but the wait time was still over an hour. The check in process was confusing, you have to wait outside until you are called into the building. I would have been ok with waiting outside, however the staff asked us to wait in the small vestibule between the front door and outside door. I was uncomfortable since 4 people were in this space with no social distancing markers. I could not see our actual place in line through the application (I would like to have monitored my spot this way & stayed outside or been permitted to proceed to the waiting room which was very clean and spacious), when I asked why the staff said we were about to be called (we still waited for a lengthy time after that). The actual test was fast, the exam room clean, & nice bedside manner. I would return but insist on waiting outside.

The experience with my care visit was excellent. There is a big problem with making with the website that notes in several places that you can walk in for a covid testing. I was turned away after I drove to the west Islip office. While I was still in the parking lot I saw a online appointment available at the Amityville office at 3:15 and wrote reason for Covid testing it was confirmed and I called the number if I had a recent exposure. I was then told they did not test after 3:15. I also attempted to schedule a 6:15 appointment at the West Islip office that was no longer available after I spent the time of entering all the information. I drove home and continued to look any new availability and was able to get a 7:45 appointment. I’m a Nurse Practitioner and understand the challenges during the Covid pandemic but the website should document No Walk Ins for Covid testing on all of it pages.

The 2 girls that came into the exam room were carrying on a private convo. The one with the long black hair asked me a question but then cut me off during my response. Neither of them shut the door to my exam room. The girl with the long black hair was discussing what was going on in the hallway. I was able to see people walk by me while I was in there. I was there for a covid test rapid/pcr. The girl was so unnecessary rough. There was no need to stick the Qtip as far as she did and as rough as she did. I literally pulled away! I have had so many and I know it’s not done that way. These girls were like the Tasmanian devil, the way they were in and out of the room. No eye contact! Private conversations! No Professionalism! No privacy!

I had driven up to the Howard Beach location and saw a line wrapped around the facility due to Covid testing but I was having an allergic reaction (never have I had an allergic reaction happened before) and I called the facility the receptionist told me not to worry to come straight into the facility no need to wait. By the time I got to the counter all of a sudden I could no longer breath and your staff sprung into action immediately. Within seconds I was being administrated an Epi Pen I am very thankful for the staff. They were calm the whole time and extremely attentive. I am truly thankful for their assistance I was transferred to an Ambulance and I was able to be discharged later in the evening to my family. Their professionalism was superb and I am thankful to be at the right place at the right time. A million thank you.

The woman with long blond braids at the door of the Ridge Hill entrance (greeter) was really rude. Asked me to leave the building because I told her I felt claustrophobic waiting in the room for Covid testing but instead, she allowed a woman and her daughter to drink their iced coffees while they had a conversation with her without their masks as I watched from the outside glass door. I missed my scheduled appointment because of this greeter and had to wait to be called last because she did not inform them in urgent care that she kicked me out of the lobby. I could understand of it was the same protocols for everyone but it is not since she was so friendly with the two females that were having a conversation with her without any face coverings and drinking coffee.

My husband and I needed to have a rapid Covid test. We went to the ProHealth Urgent Care in Howard Beach on a recommendation from our daughter, who had recently been there for a test herself. We arrived without an appointment registered and checked in inside the reception area. We were asked to wait in our car until they called us to come in. We waited about 10-15 minutes then were called inside. Someone came in right away and took our vitals then swabbed is for the test. We were asked to wait in the exam room for 10 minutes to receive our printed results. The whole process took no more than 30 minutes and the staff were pleasant and friendly. I would recommend this facility.

The staff were wonderful and we should all thank them for even being there! A special thanks to Dan the clinical director. Nothing but kindness and compassion even as he was multitasking and believe me it was crowded. The care was great and I felt I got individual attention, energy at the end of the night. I witnessed how well they cleaned everything after each patient!! I rated the wait time as a 3 but this should not be a reflection in the site or the staff. They did everything in their power to keep it as short as possible. They even arrived early to hand out rerun times to walk-in patients who wanted COVID testing. Had they not done this we could have been there for hours waiting our turn!! Thank you to everyone!

I had an urgent care issue and I attended Westmed on Westchester Ave. I had an amazing experience there from the receptionist right through to the doctors. Nurse Susan was so nice and professional, the big baby that I am, I was so scared to take my fifth Covid test! She did a swab that was so quick and painless, I didn't have time to cry!! NP Louise was very cordial & took time out to listen to my woes. Dr. Esteban is a fine clinician with extraordinary knowledge ordering a CT and all the necessary tests that would be done at an ER Hospital. I felt in very good hands here, the facility is very clean and they take all the necessary precautions with Covid. I highly recommend this facility and would definitely return for any medical emergency.

I had a rapid COVID test which overall was a good experience. What was a little puzzling to me was the difference between my nephew’s experience and mine. We both had our video chat on Sunday 8/23, my nephew was given the option to get tested that day (Sunday) which he did at the Poughkeepsie location. I was told testing was only M-F 9-3, so I got tested Monday ( I would have rather tested on Sunday and been able to go to work Monday like my nephew did). When I called back on Sunday to try to get tested that day, the two different people I talked to told me testing wasn’t available on Sunday even tho my nephew was just tested? On Sunday my nephew was given a complete print out of the test results. On Monday I was just given a copy of the order with “negative” hand written, which my employer would not accept, when I called back Monday to try to get the printed report, I was told it was not in the computer yet and wouldn’t be until later that night? The person I talked to was very helpful and called me back at 8pm to tell me it had just been faxed to my employer. My experience was good, but wondering why my nephew’s experience was so much more efficient?

I walked in and the girl at the desk greeted me right away and was really nice and polite. She went over my information with me and told me they would call me right in. No one else was in the waiting room and in just a couple of minutes, I was called in. I had someone named Bee who did my covid test and she was great! She calmed my nerves and had me laughing which was needed because I was a wreck. The doctor followed up with some information and I was all good to go. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes and felt like I was cared for and got what I needed. I will definitely be recommending this place to others!

I went to Pro Health in Little neck Queens. I have been there before with no problem. However, on 11/25/20 my boyfriend and I waited in total 7 hours for a covid test. Three hours to register ( no online appts) and 3-1/2 hrs to be called back. The Office Manager and Assistant are extremely brave to work and take all these walk in’s last minute before thanksgiving. The office Manager was so calm and personable while explaining delays to everybody. In addition the nurses and doctor were very nice and explained everything to us during testing. We took a rapid test and pcr test. Fantastic job to the employees as I think they were under staffed they day only and very professional in handling all these ppl and having to accommodate this overwhelming in flux of people. These are trying times we all are facing so I think the wait for us was wayyy too long but not their fault.

We had such a great experience here tonight. It was almost closing time, and my daughter was a walk-in. We did not need an office visit, only the PCR test. I panicked a bit when I saw that we were the 16th ones in line, considering she's young and it was almost 9:00 p.m. . However, within 5 minutes, I received a text from Christine, stating that she found our script and chart, and we should be good to get our swab in the triage room or covid test parking spots. Everything moved along seamlessly after that, and the longest portion of the wait was just to give our address and insurance information. Despite how many visibly sick children were in the waiting room, and how impatient some of them were getting, the staff remained friendly and helpful the entire time. I am so grateful for their help, especially knowing how burnt out they must be at this point. We didn't feel an ounce of that ❤️. Thank you all!!

The person (not sure if it was an MA or RN) who took my sons weight, the pulse ox, temp and completed nasal swab for Covid testing could have had a bit better bed side manner. He did not advise me or my son what he was going to do before he did it. Basically came up from behind him grabbed his finger and put the pulse ox on. He did the same w the Covid test. It seemed a bit aggressive snd just very robotic. Mind you my son is 2. I realize his age and communication skills. but at least let me know. Or maybe engage w him for a second before basically sneaking up from behind and sticking a cotton swab up his nose? I guess I expected a little more compassion from a pediatric facility. This would not happen to an adult when being seen in a medical facility. It should not happen to children either. The MD we saw was very kind and had much better bedside manner.

Although I only did the drive up, I felt it was organized and safe. I liked the contactless check in and my wait time wasn’t bad. I made an appt for regular test 2 wks ago but was called to tell me they couldn’t honor appts but I could drive up for test. She never said the drive up was only for rapid test! I clearly said I did not want the rapid one when I made the original appointment so she knew. She just said I would need to do drive up. I waited about 45 min before they opened and about 15 min once they began testing. I did the check in on my phone. My only complaint was that I did not check for the rapid Covid test and thought I was getting the regular one. When my results were called in that night, I realized that I was given the rapid one which I heard is not as effective. Why ask me to check which test I wanted if you’re given only the rapid test?

I was greeted by Brittany. Let me tell you, I went from being nervous to very calm. She was very hygiene diligent, which is so important, so sweet and very caring. She helped me with everything I needed. The Medical assistant was also very nice, sweet and very gentle. The Doctor was nice I wish he would’ve gave me a quick exam. My ears, throat, and lymph nodes in my head and neck should have been checked being that I am not feeling well, and just to rule anything else out. I guess since Covid testing is what I requested that was probably the reason. However not that big of a deal. I will utilize this place in the future. Big thank you to Brittany every office should have a front desk staff like her.

I cannot express how grateful I am to have this ProHealth facility nearby. Even in these crazy times, the facility was, as always, clean, dependable and filled w caring employees. I had called my primary for an appointment, thinking I had a severe sinus infection. Understandably, as some of my symptoms overlapped w COViD 19 symptoms (severe headache, dizziness, nausea), she asked me to go to a (different) urgent care instead. I knew better, and went to Pro-Health immediately. While I had the option to make an appointment online, they were running 3 days out, so I tried my luck, and walked in. I knew I could count on their safety protocols. I was the only person in the large waiting room. There was a receptionist on the phone when I arrived, it wasn’t 5 seconds later that a second appeared, took my info (I wanted a rapid COVID 19 test first, in case). He apologetically explained that he would call me on my cell when it was time to come in. I laughed: under the circumstances, I expected to wait upwards of 3 hours! They texted me a link, and I filled out paperwork in the car, then rec’d a link letting me watch my exact place in line, in real time. Clearly, they have some staff dealing w walk-ins, and others with those w appts. I was called in less than 50 mins later! This was my first COVID test, and we’ve all heard stories about that nasal/“brain” swab! This technician was thorough, but gentle. No sudden poke, but gentle twisting in both nostrils, sure to get at different parts of each nostril. I was asked to wait in the room for results, which came back (negative🤗) in less than a half hour. The Dr who came in to follow up about my sinus infection was professional and personable. As I’d had no fever, and was already taking Flonase, he started me on a 6 day course of steroids. 2 1/2 days in, and I already see an improvement!! I have used Pro-Health for years, whenever I was unable to see my primary. I have never once been disappointed. How they can handle the amount of people they are, while keeping patients apart, is nothing short of amazing!

Boonville COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Boonville?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Boonville?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Boonville-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Boonville?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Boonville including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Boonville?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Boonville-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Boonville?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Boonville are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Boonville?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Boonville?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
