Arrived for a rapid Covid test that was for two scheduled appointments they were very busy which is understandable but we were more or less forgotten then the staff that came out to take the test was very rude and inconsiderate and unprofessional her name was America I was able to address this with the PA I have been a patient for years with quick urgent care today was the first time that I felt the disappointment that I felt we are in a pandemic and this staff did not seem compliant to change gloves without being requested to do so then got an attitude regarding it I was very polite and asked for my own health and the health of my family and friends as well as her health and the response I got was unacceptable when she told me that me and my co-worker were in the same vehicle for our Covid test which was her excuse for not changing her gloves before she was asked if she would be I told her that does not matter we are both patients I again was told sternly same vehicle when I asked for her name she gave it in a rude manner and then asked me my name which she already knew ha ha at least I was hoping so she just did my Covid test then went directly to do my coworkers Covid test I am still upset about this visit today publicly provided should I do I

we received excellent care at this urgent care and would highly recommend it to other families. We went in with my daughter for a Covid test and the doctor was so thorough to make sure we got excellent care to find out what actually was going on with her because she did not test positive for Covid. great quality care. I also had to call back to get a note for her school and they took care of everything

I went to access medical in Owasso Oklahoma for a minor situation. An x-ray was taking and a Covid test. Because they thought I had pneumonia. I needed a CT scan so they sent me to the hospital to find out. no Covid and no pneumonia. But they did fine a large chest mass. I’m thankful four access medical takingX-ray and getting me to go for more testing. If I hadn’t gone to them I wouldn’t even have known that I have a serious problem. Thank you access medical!

I was very grateful the staff was able to test for COVID especially when it came back positive. It took 2.5hrs from the time I got there to the time I got the results from the doctor. The staff was doing as much as they could and I really appreciated them giving me estimated wait times in my car between each step Incase I wanted go get a drink or leave for a few minutes. They were seeing so many people. If you go for COVID testing, be patient and kind to the staff, they are working really hard to help us.

My family & I have been to this location 3 times now, each time for rapid Covid testing. I appreciate that we’ve been able to stay in our car & have the staff come to us. Each one has been receptive, attentive & thorough. At our most recent visit, it was suggested my son have flu & strep testing in addition to Covid, & it’s a good thing because his strep test was positive & the doctor came out to deliver the news. I would recommend My Doctor Urgent Care to others, & I have.

The website did not clearly explain the process for getting a rapid Covid test. The signs are the door were confusing. One, at the very begging of the day, said that they had already done all of the tests they could for the day. The other told patients to call for an appointment. I called the number repeatedly for 45 minutes before I got through. I also left my name and number the day before my test and the day of and never received a return call. One I did have the test conducted, I was told I would have the results in the same day. I still have not received my results.

Frankly, I love this place. I love first med. I was treated here several years ago for pneumonia and was given superb service. I have taken several rapid Covid tests here and I appreciate the care they take to ensure that their patients are safe. This particular first med urgent care has an extremely friendly and warm staff. I did accidentally pushed know that I would not recommend first med but clearly I will recommend it to anyone and I have sent several people there for Covid test. Thank you

I started out at the Access UC on Riverside for COVID test and lingering symptoms after my husband was diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia. The receptionist inside the Riverside location was so rude and said they reached their cap on COVID tests. She did not offer to help redirect me, but we had an Access helpline number, and that person sent us to Garnett. I am SO glad I was seen at the Garnett facility. Everyone was beyond friendly, I felt so comfortable, I received great care, and I am now resting back home. Your staff at Garnett is wonderful. They definitely work to exceed the standards of care. Thank you so much. I used to only go to the Riverside location, but I will drive the extra miles from now on.

I went in for a Covid test 72 hours prior to traveling to Italy. The staff was efficient, professional and very nice. The facility was immaculate. I made an appointment on line from my phone and was in and out with my paper test results in about 30 minutes. I would go back to First Med Urgent Care without hesitation and would highly recommend it to my family and friends. 5 stars!

I needed to have a covid test done for my 11-year-old. They gave me a quick appointment. Staff friendliness was not very good considering I am a worried mother. The doctor gave me the test result with absolute cold and insensitive bedside manner for my situation(despite the fact that my daughter tested positive and my world and hopes collapsed in a second) He gave me a bunch of common info papers and left me with a million unasked equations. Do I recommend that place? I guess, if you are desperate.

I went in for a Covid test and feel as though I was not tested properly. The nurse hardly put the swab into my nose at all. Of course my test came back negative but I feel as though it should have been positive given all the symptoms I am experiencing. I will be forced to go get another test again. I feel like my visit today was a waste of my time.

I was on the walk-in wait list for a rapid Covid test. I like that I got to go home & wait for them to call & tell me it was my turn to come to the tent for my test. I’m glad I didn’t have to sit in their lobby or wait in my car for my appointment time. It was a very long wait because of all the people that had appointments. Great job FirstMed for coming up with that waiting option. The young man that did our test was very quick & knew what he was doing!

Dr wasn't very thorough...just dismissed with "see this all the time"...not great bedside manner. Nurse was WORSE...she never smiled or was at all friendly...actually no one did. She was rude.. And I work in Healthcare where we are especially focused on good customer service. I've been here before...Dr not thorough...dismissed like "see all the time"...although I've been sick 3days...offered me Covid test which had second thoughts so did it...but said "up to you"...no compassion...Nurse was TERRIBLE...rude...never smiled...couldn't find my pharmacy online...come on...Google it! Been going there for years... Would not recommend this team...not this round...Im in healthcare...we demonstrate compassion and friendly attitude! Step it up folks...you serve a community who needs good service!

The care is good. But, I don't agree with the note to go back to work on. It states the date to return but he wrote if all criteria has been met below which describe covid 10 obligations. It would be confusing to an employer on what to do because it was confusing to me. I had an upper respiratory infection. At my place of work it sounds like this P.A. is trying to quarantine me. I feel they just wanted to get an additional covid test with my insurance. The note should have only printed the day seen and can return to work statement, not the 3 paragraphs talking about if you have covid if you were tested and quarantine subject that is all unnecessary. I'm not showing the note to my employer because he might think as it reads all about quarantine 10 days. I cant afford that without pay.

When I got the call back to do the triage over the phone, the guy who called me pretty much called me a liar. He asked if I had ever had a Covid test. I said no. He said ‘I recognize your name, I know you’ve had a Covid test. Now be honest, how many Covid tests have you had?’. My answer was correct the first time. None. I dont Appreciate being called a liar. I was in last week and got a strep test. I’ve gotten worse and came in today for a Covid test. He could have just looked at my chart rather than accusing me of lying. Treating a patient like that is not acceptable. Hopefully this can be used an a training tool to improve customer service.

Recent COVID test it handled with the utmost professionalism & compassion. The staff at this facility need to be commended!! They are ALL UNDER so much stress, I can’t safe enough kinds words to express how grateful to such caring medical personnel right in my own backyard!! God Bless these providers they are under tremendous pressure every day! I’m proud of their efforts & know my family are in great hands here 🙏🏾

I usually come here for something minor. The nurse did a wonderful job of asking some questions and getting me in. The provider was friendly, however she never asked any questions or performed a full exam. She just listed to my chest and looked at my throat. Again no questions were asked about my symptoms. I was also prescribed meds but was told not to full the script unless I felt worse ina couple of days. I found that kind of odd considering there was nothing else mentioned from the provider during the visit. Wasn’t the worst service but definitely under par. I did not feel as if I was medically assessed by the provider as I should have been considering I had been sick for several day prior and the COVID test was negative . I will most likely return but would appreciate more communication from the provider to understand fully what is going on with my health

I was there for a rapid COVID test. On Friday, I went to a location close to my house but was referred to one 10 miles away. I arrived at 8:06 AM, called the number on the door and was given the opportunity to leave a message. At 9:30, I noticed that people who arrived after me were receiving treatment, I called again, and after being put on hold, talked to a real person who told me that the individual locations don't get the phone messages so she checked me in. That was a WASTED 1 1/2 hours. I was finished about 11:25. Once I was checked in properly, the actual process was smooth.

This was my first time using your services and I was surprised on how safe & easy it was to get the Covid test. I was really happy on my quick results. 3 of us from the same company all had ours done together at the same time. Of course we had already scheduled our appointments on line. Also easy to do. I am sure that I will use your facility again.

2 ladies working the front, one was so nice & kind, the other seems to have an attitude issue with even being at her job. The nurse & provider who saw me were absolutely great. I had to get a COVID test & had another issue (they took care of it). I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Hopefully the one rude lady up front can find some sort of peace with having to work. I’ve been to this place before (not during this pandemic), the one front lady had an attitude then (same lady). But luckily this place has another amazing staff to make up for her.

Anadarko COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Anadarko?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Anadarko?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Anadarko-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Anadarko?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Anadarko including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Anadarko?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Anadarko-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Anadarko?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Anadarko are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Anadarko?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Anadarko?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
