Everything was good except for one thing... She did the quick results in front of me and I was very surprised and unprepared for one of the results to be a non-negative. It turned out to be because of a prescription that I'm on. It was very unsettling. They should ask about prescriptions and/or provide a list of medications that will affect the results. We have enough anxiety in society already.

Overview of STD Testing in St. Helens

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), regardless of their age, gender, or sexual orientation. This is particularly important for those who have multiple sexual partners, engage in unprotected sex, or use intravenous drugs, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Regular testing is also recommended for individuals in relationships to ensure the health of both partners.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, many STDs do not exhibit symptoms, so you may be unaware that you have one. Secondly, untreated STDs can lead to serious health complications, such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Lastly, knowing your status can help prevent the spread of STDs to others.
