I made an appointment online and was able to get an appointment quickly. I did not wait and was greeted kindly. The nurse practitioner that saw me took time with me and sent a prescription to my pharmacy immediately. She told me to get back to her if I wasnt doing better or had any questions. Way better than going to my family practitioners where I was told I couldn’t be seen until July 15th for a sick appointment. Highly recommend Carbon Health in Jenkintown.

Easy to schedule, they had a same day appt and I was able to book right at 9 am, staff and PA were SO nice, PA was informative and friendly, with great bedside manner and advice. My only opportunity area for this Urgent Care would be to reduce the wait time. It took 40 minutes before I even saw the PA from when I arrived with the 9 am appt. And all together I was there 1 hour and 30 minutes. PA was new and learning the ropes and computer systems, but this waiting time (with an appt) should look to be shortened in the future.

Scheduled with ease online. They had an opening within 10 mins, took that appointment. Upon arrival was greeted by front office staff who kindly checked me in. Was sitting for not even a minute before being called back by the medical assistant who was also kind and took all my vitals. The Dr. came in with a wonderful professional demeanor and great bedside manner. He answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. I would definitely recommend this office for your urgent health care needs!

Best emergency care experience of my life. Maggie, Jamie, Dan, and Mark treated me like a queen: couldn't have been kinder, friendlier, or more competent. I was seen immediately, and my injury was treated with care and professionalism. Fearing a long wait, insurance issues, or grouchy staff personalities so often experienced when seeking emergency care, I hesitated to even go for treatment of my injury but ultimately recognized it was unavoidable. Thank goodness I went, and thank goodness I chose AFC Urgent Care. I not only received amazing health care but also left with warm fuzzies to carry with me all week.

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

The reservation process and site location needs to be improved. When I booked the reservation, I never received a confirmation email. When I called the telephone number to confirm my appointment, there was no record of me making the appointment on line, however 1/2 the info I provided via online registration was in the record. Why only 1/2?? The person on the telephone line was EXTREMELY helpful! She called the site staff, kept me on the telephone line and gave me real-time updates until we could straighten it all out. Your system needs to confirm immediately once registration is complete. If I hadn’t called ( as a senior citizen, I had to arrange travel to your site with my daughter) we May have been turned away. That would have been a major problem for us. Thankfully, your attentive staff were able to accommodate us. The other suggestion is better signage and direction at your Ardmore site. We looked around for 20 min and had to ask the nearby fire Dept for directions. The address you have on the website doesn’t exist on Google Maps or Waze ( GPS). You should have a portable sign on Lancaster Ave or tell people the location is at back of IHOP parking lot and in between post office location. A number of patients were heard complaining about location/poor signage & directions. Otherwise, I commend the county and providers there for responding in such a responsible manner to the Covid testing needs of county residents. Well done, and THANK YOU!

We went to the Ardmore Covid testing location. Our total visit took about five minutes. Online registration was simple, parking was very easy, walked right up to check in, waited about 3 minutes then for the test, staff was very friendly, I’d highly recommend.

My son was being tested today and I was able to pick him up from school and go over there immediately as it was extremely easy to get an appointment. When we got there he was tested right away without any wait. The test was quick and easy and the staff was quite friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend it to anyone needing a Covid test in the area!

- Verified patient on 9/22

The Covid testing site was easy to get to, plenty of parking, and was just a quick and easy experience. Thank you for making a stressful situation as easy to deal with as possible!

I go to this location every time I need to have a Covid test. The staff is always friendly and kind, and today someone even told me they hoped I feel better! I will always return to this location for Covid testing and recommend it to other people as well. Thank you so much for providing outstanding customer care!

I have now had a few COVID tests at the Ardmore location in Montgomerey county, and I am so grateful. It is accessible, easy, and quick—an important public service that the county has done an excellent job providing.

- Verified patient on 11/21

I went to get a COVID test. The process was very quick and efficient. The problem is how long it takes to get the results. I got tested Wednesday morning. It is late Friday afternoon and I still do not have a result. It is too slow. That is why I would not recommend using this facility. I booked online

This was the best experience I’ve had with a covid test. So many available appointment times. I did not wait at all when I got there. It was quick and efficient.

- Verified patient on 12/9

I got a covid test at the Ardmore community testing site. It was efficient, safe, and the staff was wonderful. What could have been a difficult, stressful, anxious visit was actually quite pleasant.

- Verified patient on 10/8

Walk up COVID test. Everyone was super nice, it was super efficient. No wait time - total time from check in to done was no more than 6 minutes.

- Verified patient on 11/17

Wanted to get COVID test. Sign up/scheduling was easy. Scheduled appointment was kept exactly on time. Staff was friendly and helpful Results came within 24 hours. Can't beat that! Thanks MontCo.

- Verified patient on 11/24

100 times better than the private sector Urgent care COVID testing experience my family had at exactly the same time. My only wish is that you could plan more than 1-2 days in advance to take the test and that the holiday hours were more transparent in advance.

- Verified patient on 12/27

This was a COVID testing site. Appointment easily made; no wait for the test; test explained as needed; results were prompt - particularly important since they were needed for a flight 2 days later.

- Verified patient on 12/10

Small line and it went very fast. Staff was really friendly and helpful. I did have to stand in a giant puddle of snowmelt as I gave myself the covid test and my sneakers and socks soaked through. :(

- Verified patient on 12/21

Outdoor Montgomery County Covid testing site was very efficient. Easy to schedule an appointment and register online, next day appointments every 2 minutes so lots of availability, clear instructions, adequate parking and testing is outdoors so it is safe. You park, walk up to check in, get your swab, step aside for a self administered nasal swab, return the swab for processing and leave with instructions for what to do while waiting for test results, which will be available to in 2 - 3 days via text. Thank you to the Montgomery County Health Department for such an efficient system.

- Verified patient on 12/20

The people who work at this COVID testing sight are wonderful. They are friendly, efficient and professional. We are so grateful that they are there. The entire registration and testing process went very quickly and I look forward to rapid results because I have a family wedding to attend in a few days.

- Verified patient on 9/28

Each and every time I have visited this location for a Covid test, all staff are friendly, respectful, welcoming, and cheerful. This makes an unpleasant experience definitely tolerable! I highly recommend the Montgomery County Covid testing location at 114 Lancaster Avenue.

- Verified patient on 4/23

The staff member was curteous and patient. The rainy weather today wasn't making outdoor testing a breeze, but the Covid tester was noticeably upbeat, pleasant, and efficient. I made an appointment and my entire visit was under 10 minutes. I will recommend this site to my acquaintances.

- Verified patient on 12/15

So facility cleanliness nit the best...it was a parking lot! Have been a few times with family members for Covid test in Ardmore abd it is really easy and fast, staff very accommodating! Great work, ladies!

- Verified patient on 1/5

Nice quick covid testing! Very convenient even when I was a few minutes late they made sure I got my test and was able to move on with the day!

Ardmore COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Ardmore?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Ardmore?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Ardmore-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Ardmore?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Ardmore including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Ardmore?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Ardmore-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Ardmore?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Ardmore are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Ardmore?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Ardmore?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
