First visit with my child. Waited over an hour passed our appointment to be seen. Office was incredibly dirty. Floors need to be redone, scratched and marks all over walls. Has definitely gone downhill since I used to come as a college student in 2014.

I got up coughing and wheezing and had called night before to schedule appointment for next morning, since started having problems. I was able to get one at 10 am on Sunday. The only problem I had was the check in on line. I had put in all information and when I went in, they could find where I had already filled out. I had to start filling out the paperwork by hand. Was not feeling well at all, but continued doing what they had me do. The person on front desk said maybe the system was not working right. Other than that I had a good visit. Dr Beene was very empathetic and got a breathing treatment b re fore I left. Great visit, the one administering the treatment was very nice and attentive!!! Thank you 😊 g

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

It was a comfortable experience in that it was conducted outside and away from others. The doctor was very explanatory in the process of the swabbing of the Covid test. The tests results were also in a timely fashion as they promised. Definitely recommend and will go back if needed.

- Verified patient on 11/15

The staff was wonderful. The girl that gave me and my mom our Covid tests was so kind, friendly, and encouraging. The woman who gave us our results was very pleasant and informative. This was my first time going to the clinic. I was very, very pleased.

- Verified patient on 2/2

Went for a rapid covid test. Medical technician that administered the test, was very friendly and even “talked” me through it because I was worried it would be painful. It LOOKS painful! Lol! More than anything, it was the technology available that made this experience great. Everything through an app. It was minimal effort on the patient end and I appreciated that! Other facilities need to get on board with that!!

We were met by the door with a very nice nurse who came out and performed a Covid test and less than a minute. My child even laughed as it was getting done seeing it tickled. Really pleased with the building and the facility and the staff.

I came in ona Sunday at 2:20pm. Was in exam room by 2:30pm. They asked me if I would like a covid test. I had a test just 3 days earlier and it cost me $130. They told me my insurance would pay. My wife has the same systems as me but much milder. So they gave both of us the rapid covid test. The Docor then came in and exam both of us. My wife did not have an appointment, but the Doctor saw us both.she is very caring to our illness. She gave me a steroid shot and 2 prescriptions and my wife 1 prescription. Mentally I was already filling better. She ordered the prescription and they were ready when we got to Walmart. Never have I had such great CARE. THANKS TO YOU AND YOUR STAFF

This is my second visit to PrimaCare for Covid testing. The first visit was wonderful and it was a smooth process. The second visit was great up to the point of speaking with the doctor. Her name is Shana Fakkel. I wanted to retest to make sure I am negative and be able to leave home isolation from being almost two weeks in a room, have peace of mind to be close to my parents which both are 65+ years of age, I live with them and not live with the uncomfortable feeling that I can be COVID-19 positive and affect the people around me. In short, Ms. Fakkel, which I will not even want to call her by Dr. had the audacity of questioning my retesting decision by asking why I would want to make my health insurance pay for another test to have peace of mind. I was shocked! First of all, that is none of her damn business and I have the right to test whenever I feel like it and charge my insurance whenever I feel like it if I PAY FOR IT! Second, she should do her job more professionally and not use a criticizing tone to her patients. I was NOT happy! On a positive note, I still got my test and the rest of the staff is great, so I still recommend this clinic, but it’s sad that one person can ruin it for everyone. I hope to not see her again in the future if I decide to return to PrimaCare.

I went for a rapid Covid test. Scheduled and received results all in less than 2 hours. Guy was super nice, quick and it didn’t hurt at all. I spent a total of 5 minutes at the location including parking. The location was on the back side of the mall near Fiesta. I recommend this location for this testing.

- Verified patient on 9/20

Wonderful people and information. Went for COVID test to fly to London and your price was $300. Said no thanks and went to Care Now and paid $139. You have to give this test at a price people can pay! That was so disrespectful. Will go out of my way to tell people not to come.

- Verified patient on 7/14

Nurse was very helpful and worked with us through paperwork troubles. She was kind and quick. Our twins have autism and it can be difficult managing changes and understanding what’s happening. Shout out to the nurse. Sorry I didn’t catch her name. She did Covid testing Saturday dec 5 around 11:00am.

- Verified patient on 12/5

Wait time was about 1hr. I got there at 10:15 (opened at 10am) for a rapid COVID test. Understandable wait tho considering the times. Staff did a great job keeping things flowing and updating via texts. Once swab was done, got results in <15min (neg!). I’m just hoping I don’t get a huge bill for the Dr visit (that I didn’t request). Only thing I recommend is he read up on the pandemic specifics since he is first line. My questions weren’t able to be answered: how accurate are the rapid tests / what’s the false negative rate and what is the best timing of getting the rapid once symptoms start and WHY? It’s not my field of medicine or I would’ve known. I still had a great experience and am glad they provide this service.

- Verified patient on 10/30

Everyone there was amazing! I took my parents there two weeks ago for Covid testing and today I went for my husband and I and y’all were wonderful. Y’all were efficient, courteous, prompt and quick. Thank you so much! You inspire in me confidence. I can trust my family’s health to you. Thanks again!

Needed a Covid test, booked online, filled out paperwork online, arrived and was seen at my appointment time. Every staff member nice, helpful, and efficient. Great experience. I also saw them being very patient with an older patient who was a little mixed up. Nice group of fellow humans. :)

This place is great. The wait time is so short. They have Covid tests. They will see you even if they think you have Covid. I got turned away from other urgent cares because they thought I had a symptom of Covid. The staff is pleasant and the care was great. 10 out of 10.

I came in for a COVID Test, and I was told that I needed an appointment. I did not have an appointment and I told them this is my only off day. Then the nurse said okay we can take care of you. Then ask me to download the web site to my phone and put in the information required. Before I had completed my application, she came back and tested me for COVID-19. When I finally finished putting in my information and submitted it to them. About 30 minutes later I received a text message informing me that my test results came back negative. I recommend this place to anyone who has to take the COVID-19 Test!

Wow! Your Covid test procedures run like a fine oiled machine! Test was quick, sanitary, and everything went just as described from the initial appt. set up to the arrival procedures, to the administering of swab, and the excellent communication till the end when I received results. Very impressive!!!!

Appointment/ Check in online convenient and easy. Used took Medicare and TRICARE for Life insurance.!This is my third visit to this particular Prime Care clinic. The staff from receptionist to provider very friendly and professional. I was thankful provider asked permission for COVID test and I agreed since I did have some of the symptoms. Test negative! I do have a regular doctor but closed on Saturday. This facility is ten minutes from my home. I will keep coming here due to proximity! Wait time was reasonable. Thank you for easing my mind of diagnosis.😇

The assistant who did our COVID testing was very professional and caring towards the kids and I considering the circumstances. Doctor Levy always does his best professionally. Dr Levy genuinely cares about his patients and always takes his time to be informative and answer any of our concerns. Great doctor and our favorite! Thanks!

Walked in without an appointment for a COVID swab after my son was sent home from school. Overall door to door was a little under two hours, which I think is wonderful for a walk in, and now we have a negative COVID test so we can resume life instead of waiting for a send out.

- Verified patient on 9/17

Needed a rapid Covid test for my job. I had difficulty finding somewhere to do a test on a Sunday, but it needed to be 3 days after exposure for me. I was anxious about how long it would take to get results, but they had me in & out quickly and my results were in my inbox in an hour and a half! I will definitely use them again!

- Verified patient on 8/29

Great experience overall getting Covid rapid results test. I didn't have an appointment so came as a walk-in. It was at a time when it was almost impossible to get a Covid test on short notice anywhere in the metro area. I needed to leave town and get a Covid test before flying. I had to wait about an hour to get the test, but even people with appointments were waiting several hours to get tested through the county's testing program. Since I was just a walk-in at UUC, I was pleased to be seen with only an hour's wait. The staff was efficient, friendly, and competent. Good experience!

Fort Worth COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Fort Worth?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Fort Worth?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Fort Worth-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Fort Worth?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Fort Worth including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Fort Worth?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Fort Worth-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Fort Worth?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Fort Worth are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Fort Worth?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Fort Worth?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
