The only negative thing I have to say is I didn't know about setting the appt. up online. The people are great and the care is awesome. When I can't see my personal physician Prime Urgent takes care of me. Thank you for being there for me.

Our family’s PCP’s never have same-day appts available so we always go to this facility for our urgent care. Dr. Ishmael is always friendly and thorough. We haven’t had to experience long waits. We like that we can log in to secure an appt slot.

My son was not feeling well and we took him to his regular doctor and didn't quite get answers. We brought him here and they tested him for everything and we got some answers. The staff here are always so friendly. Anytime we need anything for our kids urgently we come here.

I walked in on Thanksgiving morning and saw the doctor with no delay or problem.  I didn’t have an appt. I was very pleased at how fast the process was and the attentiveness of the staff and doctor.  So happy to know they are close by!

Woke up sick this morning, was easily able to schedule before the clinic was opened. Once I was in the clinic and in a room, there was a long wait to the point where I had to pop my head out to ask if I had been forgotten. They were working with another patient but I wish they would have let me know that it would have been a little while before I’d be seen.

I am a person who regularly receives B12 and vitamin shots as well as IV infusions. I had the worst experience this week when it was my first time visiting neumed modern urgent care. The doctor was very rude, did not have a gentle hand, after stabbing me three times to get my bulging vein,  they realize Metal stand that holds the IV bag is broken and that it's the only one in the facility. I have to get up from previously laying down on the table and walk all the way through their facility in pain after being stuck three times because they have one stand to hold an IV bag, don't make the mistake of going here. My arm still hurts and I didn't feel much of a difference.

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

The wait time was unbelievable. My COVID test was for 12:00 pm. Waited 45 minutes in lobby. Was done 2 hours later. Did not leave until 4:00. People and Dr are friendly. It’s just the waiting!!!

- Verified patient on 10/6

Seemed reluctant to provide a rapid Covid test which I genuinely required. But overall, a good outcome and a good experience

- Verified patient on 10/21

I registered online on my home computer to get on the waitlist, uploaded my insurance card, through Solv and created an account. I had two children and the system didn't recognize my account and I had to do the same steps ALL over again. I got to the clinic and checked in using the QR Code. Again, the system didn't keep all of the information I entered when creating the account online. I had to enter registration information AGAIN - TWICE. We had a wait of about 45 minutes from our appointment. The papers at the front desk were horrible copies. The pens were not cleaned between each patient. The front desk staff was not wearing a mask. We paid for a rapid covid test. The front desk staff did not inform us that we got both the rapid and pcr test. The provider told us. Other than that, the staff was friendly and courteous. I've had billing issues with this practice so we'll see what that looks like in a few days.

- Verified patient on 11/11

Waiting area was dirty. Dirty/used Kleenex/tissues on floor and chairs. Receptionist wasn’t too friendly PA didn’t have good bedside manner. No eye contact Was very close and Kept looking at my chest. Made me uncomfortable “Prescription “ he gave me were things I can buy over the counter for less money. Immediately wanted to do CoVid test, when I knew it was just sinus infection but wanted to rule out strep throat. It was an okay visit.

- Verified patient on 6/21

My daughter came in with fever over 100.4 Lots of cough and the did not make her a COVID test or flu or nothing did not checked her ears or throat for infection or something I believe they just wanted to go home the consultation lasted probably 5 minutes

- Verified patient on 12/25

Had an appointment and still waited 2 hours. One staff was apologetic for the wait time but it didn’t seem like the others cared. I hadn’t eaten dinner and left my nursing baby at home...because of COVID precautions. Didn’t get home until nearly 3.5 hours after I had left. Didn’t even get the test I originally was asking to get because it was “only out of curiosity” but in reality my concerns are also towards the patients that I personally see and how I am able to fully direct my care towards them. I never intend to get a Covid test just for fun so if I come back, it is only out of necessity. I have a PCP and urgent care closer to home.

This is my second visit to PrimaCare for Covid testing. The first visit was wonderful and it was a smooth process. The second visit was great up to the point of speaking with the doctor. Her name is Shana Fakkel. I wanted to retest to make sure I am negative and be able to leave home isolation from being almost two weeks in a room, have peace of mind to be close to my parents which both are 65+ years of age, I live with them and not live with the uncomfortable feeling that I can be COVID-19 positive and affect the people around me. In short, Ms. Fakkel, which I will not even want to call her by Dr. had the audacity of questioning my retesting decision by asking why I would want to make my health insurance pay for another test to have peace of mind. I was shocked! First of all, that is none of her damn business and I have the right to test whenever I feel like it and charge my insurance whenever I feel like it if I PAY FOR IT! Second, she should do her job more professionally and not use a criticizing tone to her patients. I was NOT happy! On a positive note, I still got my test and the rest of the staff is great, so I still recommend this clinic, but it’s sad that one person can ruin it for everyone. I hope to not see her again in the future if I decide to return to PrimaCare.

The provider I believe her name was Dr. Clem was quick to get me out the door and acted as if I was not imporatant when I asked for her to look at my son and why was there swelling under his tongue and that I was concerned if there was congestion in his lungs she recommended covid testing I asked her could it be flu since my son had been around my grandbaby who was diagnosed with flu 2 days prior to my visit, her response was it was probably a false positive but she did not explain why she felt it was negative, I did ask for a flu test even thou she was reluctant to do one, then the nurse returned shortly afterwards and stated the results of the covid were negative as well as his flu test but I had to ask again why was there swelling under my son's tongue since both test were negative, the provider finally had told me it was his congestion. I have been here several times in the past and had not had to expierence a bad bed side manner from a provider I am hoping she was just not feeling well or not aware of this and will improve on my next visit.

All in all the medical staff was great. Came in for a Covid test for travel purposes. When I called to make an appointment for my wife and I, I had to repeat my name several times, the spelling of my wife’s name a few times. As well as both phone numbers several times. I figured maybe the connection wasn’t great. When we arrived I checked in electronically following instructions. Then I got a notification that my appointment was completed. We went inside and I was trying to explain what had happen in the app (same receptionist I spoke to on the phone) and interrupted me and said I was marked as a no show. I showed her my text confirming a 10.30 appointment. This conversation was taking place at 10:08. I tried to explain to her also that my name was misspelled on the text and it was vital that it be correct. She snapped “I’m trying to fix it.” And I responded “I wouldn’t know that because you didn’t communicate that.” She abruptly said “have a seat”. My wife went up to ask her if she corrected the spelling of my name. She responded rudely “I said I fixed it”. I sat and waited and another patient came in and went to the check in desk and said “good morning I’m here for an appointment” she responded with “NAME!” You could tell he was troubled by her rudeness. He gave it and she said “sit over there. The rest of the appointment went as expected. Polite courteous medical staff. When it was time to check out I went back to the same receptionist and she slid the papers over without a word spoken and stood there. For about 30 seconds. I asked her if she needed anything else from me. “Nope” was the only answer I got. I told her to “do better” and left. I called our friends who went right before us. They had a similar experience. I and my wife are white, our friends both white, the other gentleman was white. I feel discriminated against because I am white and the receptionist was not. Additionally she presents as rude, incompetent, insensitive, and is a bad person to have as the customer facing/first impression of this clinic. She is the soul reason I wouldn’t recommend this location. I would like someone to call me.

- Verified patient on 6/18

The lady was in the front office was nice, the nurse and the dr. were just rude and unpleasant. I have a hearing problem and coyld not understand the dr, she didnt ask if I have any other complaint she was just there to do a covid test. Very disappointed. My dad died this week and because I could not understand the dr, I chose the test that will take longer. I wont get the results back in time to attend the funeral.

Went for covid testing. Did not have to wait very long on my car. PA. Was friendly and answered my questions

- Verified patient on 6/20

Bad experience with Nextcare urgent Care. I had appointment at 1:30 to have a COVID test, waited until 4pm and decided to cancel because they didn’t even know when was my turn, the receptionist seems careless and all she answered was “we are behind the schedule” even though there was only one person before me.

- Verified patient on 12/10

Went in for curbside covid test wasn’t fast,Doctor was very friendly & professional.

- Verified patient on 9/12

The nurse & front staff were great. However the PA on duty didn’t listen. I had to tell him 4 times the chief complaint for both of my kids & he still couldn’t get it right. Then he ordered a COVID test after I said no & so there was no exposure. Absolutely horrible.

- Verified patient on 10/22

Everytime I come with an appointment I have to wait a crazy amount of time. I went to get covid tested today and waited an hour and 15 minutes. And by the time I got in, it took less than 5 minutes to get me out of the door. They’re very nice, but it took so long I couldn’t go back to work because it took my entire lunch break. I had to take a half day. No one go if you have anything to do that day. Crazy wait times and this wasn’t the first time. Last time I waited 50 minutes.

- Verified patient on 12/15

Perfect place to go for a Covid test.

- Verified patient on 1/4

I wanted to get checked out and get antibiotics. The dr only took temp and gave me covid test. I expected a strep throat test since the only thing that really hurt was throat.

- Verified patient on 2/2

My son and I went in for a covid test and the only people that didn’t seem like they were having a bad day was the lady that did my son vitals and the doctor 👩‍⚕️. The receptionist was not having it and the people that did our covid test just seemed in a rush and didn’t even know what they were doing. Not good customer service at all. Horrible.

- Verified patient on 1/16

The wait time was short so that was a plus. The exam rooms were clean, but the staff wasn't that friendly. The nurse who took my child's vitals was a little argumentative and was a little short at first. Eventually she spoke, & seemed to warm up to me once she assigned us an exam room. Once in the exam room the doctor was nice and informative but she hardly gave me a chance to speak or thoroughly explain exactly what was going on with my son. The appointment seemed EXTREMELY rushed! She was telling me a lot of information that I already knew (medical terminology and past work experience in the medical field), & didn't pin point a possible prognosis. She only said there was no way to test for all the viruses in a daycare... Which could mean a lot of things. She only listened to his lungs and said he could possibly have a cold... Isn't that your job to find out what it is so I can correctly fix the issue?? She did offer a COVID test but that was it... So I will wait to possibly rule that out... We are on our own pretty much and it's back to trial & error with different OTC antihistamines until he is back to normal. I feel like a I wasted $50 honestly...

- Verified patient on 12/3

We did an online visit for a COVID test order for my daughter, and it was relatively easy. There are easier telemed portals, but I didn't mind using Solv since we needed to get it done quick.

Pearland COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Pearland?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Pearland?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Pearland-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Pearland?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Pearland including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Pearland?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Pearland-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Pearland?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Pearland are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Pearland?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Pearland?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
