I was in a lot of ear pain and had Covid as well. I had been in the office preciously and the attention was completely different. Dr. Romeika Campbell is truly the best doctor that has helped me in this location. Very caring, very patient and takes her time really trying to help you and providing the correct antibiotics. The nurse that was assisting her was also very caring when she gave me two injections.

Great urgent care! They accepted both my primary and secondary insurance. You can walk in or set up an appointment on line. Quickly tap in your arrival notice on the couple of screens provided. The wait was then minimal, the staff always meet you with a smile and the facility is beautiful. I saw a knowledgeable nurse practitioner who was very attentive and concerned with my leaving with all my needs addressed. When I had an issue that the pharmacy I requested was closed, I was able to quickly have them reroute the meds to one that was open. This will be my go-to location for urgent care when my PCP is not available.

My son had a fever. History of ear infections. I was not confident in the evaluation of the practitioner. Was not clear about diagnosing an ear infection. Stated no redness was noted. Ended up in the ER the same night with a clear diagnosis of a R ear infection. Not sure if they are not used to evaluating young children.

I visited because I’m allergic to poison ivy, so I had rash all around both eye, every thing when well, my only issue was that the doctor had roll me that my medicine was going to be ready in no more than 1hr this was at 10:00am, I went to the pharmacy to pick up at 6:00pm and was told that my prescription was barely submitted 30 min ago.

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

The staff where outstanding very professional. Joe did a great job very professional did not make it uncomfortable to get the covid test. Thank you all and merry Christmas

- Verified patient on 12/17

First time visit. Had to get a Covid test to return back to work. Staff was was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely return again. Wait time was perfect

- Verified patient on 10/15

Went in for a rapid Covid test and provider refused to give one based on not having a fever, even though I had made an appointment and my insurance fully covers one. I am a medical provider and am exposed daily. This was unacceptable and staff was not responsive to my concerns.

My husband & I had our Covid tests here. They were friendly, well prepared, fast and efficient!! We would highly recommend!

- Verified patient on 8/13

Amazing staff at the desk and in the care room. Would recommend to anyone. I was getting a PCR Covid test.

4/24/21 The receptionist at the front desk was very unprofessional. I was first greeted with its gonna be a while we are busy. There was 2 people in the waiting room. I look and said just those 2? She said there are others in the back. Only saw 2 come out but no big deal. I asked “could you please check to see why I got a bill when I believe I paid the last time I was there and then received a bill after. So she told me she would have someone call me Monday because she doesn’t know why. Ok cool. No big deal. Then I sit down and get back up to ask “what will my fees will be because if it’s $280 again I will have to go somewhere else.” She said with 0 effort of verifying “probably 280.” I replied “you can’t tell me a price?” She said “it depends on your insurance.” I asked “what would the price be if someone didn’t have insurance?” She said “we wouldn’t accept you and you are aggravating me!” So I nicely asked for someone else. First I’m confused because every other facility posts covid test price on doors, websites, and all other advertisements. I felt these were simple questions and not out of the ordinary. She was so unprofessional and if she’s at the front desk I won’t be coming back and that’s been my place for 5 years. Never once had a complaint. Rest of the staff were perfect, professional, and friendly. She however should’ve on an assembly line not where she has to deal with people. Especially sick people. This is the first review I have ever written btw. She was that bad

Our Male Nurse John has great bedside manner and made I loved his personality! He made my son less nervous about getting Covid tested!

- Verified patient on 12/11

Quick in and out even at the end of the day. Nice setup for distancing for the Covid testing. Overall very comfortable experience.

NextCare is safe and clean. We prefer nextCare over any VA facility in the Houston area This was our third visit to this facility and we have always been recieved and treated in a positive manner from the front desk to the PA. The exam is extensive and thorough. In fact as a precaution because my husband was coughing up mucus they gave him a COVID test and we got results in Five minutes. We rated them a five comparing them to the Woodlands Memorial Hermann emergency room and the Conroe and Houston Va medical centers

Thanks for the excellent experience for my covid test!

- Verified patient on 4/22

Went to Nexcare for a COVID test. Very quick and was done curbside in my vehicle. Nurse practitioner Leslie was very professional and very nice. She carefully explained the procedure and paperwork. I’ve been to this facility previously and highly recommend them for urgent care needs

- Verified patient on 8/13

I went for a COVID test. The front desk ladies were nice, but kind of abrupt and rude. I try to be nice to everyone and I understand it’s really hard to be in healthcare right now, but seriously please be more polite. Also, for my COVID test the guy just kind of picked my nose with the swab. No wonder it was negative you just tested my boogers.

- Verified patient on 11/28

To make an appointment and to leave almost three hours later when all you went in for was a covid test was too much.

- Verified patient on 2/4

My experience with online surveys tells me that the employees will be blamed if the scores were less than perfect and that would be unfortunate because your staff is great. I have no issue with them, I did take issue with the process of administering the Covid tests. You have a waiting area with poorly distanced chairs and 10-15 people in there waiting, some of them not wearing their masks correctly. If some people are coming in to the clinic because they think they have covid you should not have a waiting room or at the very least find some way to separate them like an alternate entrance. People should be encouraged to wait in their cars but it didn't seem like you even have a process to text or otherwise notify people when they're up. Your check in/waiting process is dangerous and needs to be improved

- Verified patient on 7/10

I had a rapid Covid test ordered by my company. It was a smooth and trouble free experience, and the result was provided before I left the facility. Overall, an excellent experience.

- Verified patient on 9/26

Receptionist was bordering on rude. Clearly doesn’t enjoy her job. Provided me incorrect information on billing for covid test. No social distancing measures in place on lobby.

Spring COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Spring?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Spring?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Spring-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Spring?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Spring including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Spring?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Spring-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Spring?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Spring are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Spring?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Spring?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
