The wait time is always quite long, but better than the emergency room. This will always be my first choice when I cannot see my PCP.

Friendly Staff

I have strained my back. The staff was polite and professional.. My wait time as not long. I sat in my car until they had a room ready. the nurse was knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable. The doctor was professional. He explained my problem and prescribed RX. I have attended this facility several times over the past year. Each visit was very good experience.

I had a 10:30 appointment and was called within 10 minutes of arrival. The receptionist, nurse and PA were polite, efficient and professional. The facility was very clean and provided safe distancing. My test was administered, results explained, prescription faxed and I was finished within 40 minutes. I would strongly recommend this facility.

Was seen very quickly because the staff recognized my problem right away and started treatment. Test were done, EKG, BLOODWORK< & X-RAY. Dr insisted I go to Sentera ER asap. where a was immediately admitted with Congestive Heart Failure. The most surprising thing was when the staff called me at 9:00 the next morning to check on me. Sorry I did not get the staff's names but Sentera kept the paperwork. I was beginng to think that good patient care had disappeared, but I guess it was just being hidden at your facility. Thank you, RICHARD E. CASSAT (SEEN JUN 23 @ 6:30 pm)

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

It was an easy process to make an online appointment. Although the time I needed an appointment was not desirable (because of influx of covid cases) they were the only location in my immediate area to get a Covid test in the same day for which the appointment was made. Staff was very courteous and were very diligent to triage my child's symptoms effectively. Their online system to receive test results was easy to access. I definitely would recommend this facility when you are unable to see your primary care physician.

I got in line an hour and a half before it opened to make sure I was able to get seen. Because of all the Covid testing, the wait is extremely long. I appreciate the staff that was there to allow me to get seen…found out they were short staffed They are very friendly, helpful, and quick once I was in the clinic room.

I had to have a "Pre-Op" COVID test. My appointment was 8:15am (right after opening for the day). Everything went fine with getting the test. But while waiting for the results, noticed what looked like blood on the floor. Looked like it was dripping & splashed from the exam table. Quite Gross. I thought, in a time where cleanliness and sanitation is a must, this is so bad. It made me think the place wasn't sanitized. At this point I just wanted to get out of there.

Great care started right the front desk with incredible help and guidance from Atifa. Dr. Mark Roddy was so patient and gave very helpful care. Becky was terrific giving the COVID test. As a side note, l loved the Western art work throughout the office. This office also gave amazing help to my wife last Friday. Thanks so much for the great medical care and experience. Cheers!

Staff was very professional and friendly from the first phone call I made outside the door indicating that I needed to be Covid tested and had symptoms , to each of the persons that came out to see me in the car. Sharp organization. I’ll be sending some patients . I’m a family doctor

Walked up at 630pm to get a COVID test but sign said they were no longer taking walk ins. I started walking back to my vehicle when a staff member came rushing out asking if I wanted a test. Even ushered my 2 kids in to get tested as well. Everyone was so nice and friendly and the process took less than 45 minutes. Thank so much to the entire staff!!

I was at this facility for my DOT recertification. I have to wait about 2 hours. But totally understandable as there were so many people for covid testing . Hats off for the lady who was working at the front desk . She probably responded like 50 calls on phone , another 20/30 walk in people regarding covid testing and she didn't loose her patience . Consistent every second, doing her job.

I arrived and walked in to see if I could get a COVID test so I could see my father who is going into hospice. Although I waited 45 min or so the staff bent over backwards to assist me so I could have a final visit with my Dad. I will be forever thankful!

Wait time only gets four stars because of the large number of Covid related testing and flu season. That four star rating is only for today’s experience and is what would be the case at any location in mid December ***. HOWEVER, this is a great location and Ms. Zuck andAshley and Paula are really great! So is the other lady, whose name I have forgotten and who is married to the male nurse. This branch and the services it provides to our community at our end of Stafford County, VA is a huge positive. Never had a bad experience in all these years. I recommend this location all of the time. It is perfect for the many needs that we have, such as shots, sports physicals, even Covid testing. So, thank you for having located the office off of White Oak road! Good quality all of the way around. Thank you for serving our community.

The call was great and I really liked the nurse! She was very kind and understanding. However, I understand the unfortunate circumstances we are in. I was the 2nd person tested for the rapid covid test and I was told I would receive an answer within 1-2 hours. It’s been 5 hours and the front desk ladies were unwilling to help me out when I called. I come here often and love my experience; however, they need to prioritize people in which the other they’ve arrived. I understand the lab must be chaotic and I trust the faculty is working as diligently as possible but this is unacceptable. I think after the results show, then the doctor should inform the patient immediately.

Really great service! The staff are friendly Moodi he came right out and was friendly and clear and gave me my Covid test it was so painless really quick I was in and out of there. I got a bit lost and they were patient with me while finding my way so I was a bit late. They didn’t make me wait extra they are great. You can also do everything over the app so def recommend to anyone

My mom needed to get covid tested so she followed me in her car and I got tested as well. They got our info thru the phone then we waited in our car behind the building and waited 3o min and got swaped from the mouth. The doctor came after to talk to us answered our questions and now to wait for the results in about a week. We are self quarantine but satisfied with whole process. Recomend highly.

Loved having Rapid COVID test available! I got to the clinic before 8am, was told to call back at exactly 8am, and my calls went to voicemail for 11 mins. Tried to check in online on my iPhone on your website, but the “check in online” button only took me to a screen to make a new reservation. There was no way to get to WAHOO.

I request this facility whenever I get sick. Never had an real issues with staff or anything of the sort. My only complaint is when I was swabbed for my Covid test the nurse, though very nice, was kind of heavy handed. I ended up tasting blood in the back of the throat and my nose was sensitive for hours after that. It even bled a little and that’s never happened and I’ve had previous Covid tests completed at this facility.

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We showed up at the wrong time slot but the Night Watch staff was able to work with us to get the covid test taken! There was no wait and the test was quick and easy! Thank you to the nurse and the behind the scenes team who were working tonight!

Drive up COVID test was fairly easy and didn’t have to wait too long! The staff member doing the test came up to my vehicle verified who I was and did the test right there! She explained to my son exactly what she was going to do. He does not do well with tests so he sat in my lap while she swab his nostrils. I received a phone call about 15 minutes later with our results!

I passed two other nextcare sites to get here and it’s worth the drive. I waited in my car until the app showed me it was my turn. The triage was quick and COVID testing was as expected (uncomfortable but necessary). I waited in my car for the physician. The physician was personable and listened to my needs and concerns. Definitely will come again for my urgent needs.

I traveled over an hour to this location and it was well worth it!!!The young lady who greeted me at the door was so friendly as your staff let me in a few mins early to use the restroom!! The lady who took my vitals was so nice and assured me of my temp and blood pressure readings. The Nurse Laura was so calming as I was concerned about my Covid testing. She explained everything thoroughly and was just a very sweet and kind person. I even enjoyed the music playing as I waited in my room!😀 Everything looked very clean and i thank everyone working there for such selfless service to others as they risk their lives everyday during this Pandemic! God bless everyone at Express and all First Responders all over the world🙏🏾 Thank you again for such wonderful care! I would come there again!

I went for a rapid Covid test. There was a sign in front of the door instructing people to call to register for the test, but it was turned with the Spanish Side facing me, so I was not able to read it and went inside. Was very courteous and redirected me to the sign. I went outside and call the number on the sign and waiting to hear back to register. It took quite a while to hear back, but I was not surprised, given the current situation. About 15 minutes later , Receptionist walked out to my car and asked me if I had called, because she noticed that I have not been registered yet. I thought this was above and beyond her job requirement and so kind of her to think of me and you come out to my car. She help me get registered, and within about 25 minutes I received the test from the nurse practitioner from my car. She was also extremely courteous and friendly and accommodating. She called me a hour later with my negative results. I was very impressed with the courtesy of the receptionist and a nurse practitioner, and I was very impressed with how smoothly the whole process went

There was little to no wait until I got back to the room. Then I waited for 45 min to see a doctor and another 30 minutes for a doctors note. Seems a little much considering I had an appointment and only needed a COVID test. It was a long wait with a 2-year old

Williamsburg COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Williamsburg?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Williamsburg?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Williamsburg-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Williamsburg?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Williamsburg including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Williamsburg?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Williamsburg-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Williamsburg?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Williamsburg are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Williamsburg?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Williamsburg?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
