Friendly Staff

Very easy to schedule appt for a same day. Was surprised by the fact that they are paperless and in order to view anything you have to download their app. It’s been 2 days and still no results, as for the medication you have to go on the appt and send it your self to the pharmacy otherwise you will not get it. Overall it was a good visit but it could have improved on some things for sure.

Woke up with the symptoms of a UTI and went straight to urgent care and got on the waiting list. I was seen early due to cancellations and I was in and out in what felt like 15 minutes. The doctor, nurses, and staff were so friendly, compassionate, and knowledgeable, and made my experience the best it could be considering the circumstances. If I need care in the future, Indigo in Milton is at the top of my list!

Very good facility. Only hour wait time as a walk in. Called to see if I could schedule walk in over the phone for my daughter who had double ear infection. Very quick and happy to help. Even offered her snacks and some apple juice to accompany the wait time! Very polite and considerate of her care and needs. Great staff. Will definitely come here again if needed! Wish they all were this easy and professional! Nicely done.

I went to Indigo for a second visit for the same ear infection. This time me I saw Michelle. She was wonderful. She listened to me, changed the medication and added one. After only two days I’m starting to feel a difference. The staff is always courteous, friendly and extremely efficient. My prescriptions are always called into the pharmacy even before I leave the office.  I really value this place. They bill my insurance and seldom make me wait more than a day or two to get in. I actually prefer it to my insurance physicians. BTW I was offered an appt in my network for an INFECTION in 4 months!  Unbelievable.

Excellent experience. Front desk and intake staff were friendly and efficient. Clinician was thorough and explained her recommendations clearly. This is my second visit. No scheduled appointments were available, so I joined the waiting list and went home. I was notified that my turn was coming up when it was time to return to the clinic, then was seen promptly...very convenient.

Short Wait Time

Had made an appt for tomorrow for a lingering cold/sore throat/earache but was feeling worse as the day progressed. I called to see if walk-ins were accepted and was told yes and the likely wait time. And then was told that they could text me when the wait had lessened. So kind! I ended up going within half an hour...figured I might as well wait there. And the check-in was efficient and fast. I was seen quickly, all my questions were answered and I was reassured about my symptoms. An OTC was prescribed after it was determined I was negative for strep or tonsillitis or an ear infection. (They even cleaned one ear, which was clogged with wax - a new experience for me. I came away SO IMPRESSED with all the staff - kind, professional, helpful and efficient!! Would definitely recommend this provider!!

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

I’m really impressed. Needed a covid test and despite an overwhelming amount of people trying to get in, the system worked great. I was able to join the que and then go back home instead of having to wait. Great service.

We did the video chat with the doctor and then came in for a COVID test. It went smoothly and fairly quickly. I would recommend this clinic and I may use it in the future for any urgent care needs for my daughter.

Taking a COVID test - could have been nerve racking. The staff were all very friendly, professional and put us at ease. Thank you for the outstanding care! Ramona Lynne Bromley

For a Covid test it wasn’t awkward or that feeling you did something wrong. It was a great experience once I got in the door and for the most part your people had empathy with concern. Thank you!

- Verified patient on 6/18

I love woodcreek and Mary bridge but doing a virtual appt for cold symptoms was worthless. I was worried about how he was coughing but since it’s virtual, you can’t listen to lungs. Later in the day he started to have ear pain. And we couldn’t look at the ears because it was virtual. And I still ended up having to come out for a covid test. I ended up making an appt the following day that was in person because I felt like we never really got one.

- Verified patient on 7/18

Went in for a rapid covid test. They got me in and tested and actually got my results before I left. Great service and staff!

- Verified patient on 3/15

Trying to get a COVID test other places has been a nightmare for me I called here, talked to a friendly person, got a time to come The wait was a little long but a got the test and I’m very happy The staff here are wonderful

- Verified patient on 8/29

Came in for a Covid test to be able to fly to Alaska. Scheduling was easy. Booked my spot for a Monday need to change to Saturday. Phoned in, made the change easily, they got me right in, Receptionist was friendly, knowledgeable, the nurse was the same. Could not have had a better test experience.

- Verified patient on 7/19

I was not able to book an appointment on line, so I had to check in early morning and then sent home to wait. It took all day, but it was just because of the incredible amount of people that wanted to get a Covid test. There service and staff was very good. Highly recommend.

The only concern would be lab test results. Longer than expected. Not sure if thats out of indigos care, as the overwhelming Covid testing increases. Still waiting for my results. I know I have A flu, unsure which one it is!!

- Verified patient on 11/23

This was my first time going to indigo. I went there for a Covid test. They took me in faster than expected and they were very kind. The doctor was very thorough, as well as his pleasant bedside manner. I’m not sick very often but when I am I will drive to 5 miles to indigo

- Verified patient on 10/23

I visited this location for a work related Covid test. The staff were absolutely wonderful. They were friendly and caring.

- Verified patient on 9/2

Great experience. MA that gave me the Covid test wasn’t wearing eye protection. She had her regular glasses on. Perhaps they didn’t have any to go over her glasses. Just worried about her safety.

- Verified patient on 10/27

We had COVID tests snd were treated very well. We're glad to have you so close.

- Verified patient on 2/15

This boat was not a good experience-:( I went to see a practitioner but the front desk ask me to fill up an application which made it to be only COVID test, she should have explained to me first. She just assumed. I am healthcare worker my self, I would like to tell her not to assume ask your patients what they want and what they are here for. Now they are going to charge me 2x because her miscommunication, It would be nice if she explain things better and not assume, when I ask her she told just fill it then after I went to the room they told me they are only going to Do a COViD swap I said no I came here to see a Dr or practitioner, I want them to check my throat. Anyways the MA went back fix something and got me a nurse practitioner and did a throat swap too but when I ask her to write a Dr note for work since I can’t go back before my COVID result is back she told me thats she can’t because she didn’t see me for covid, I don’t understand she can see it they just swapped me right there. The MA also said it is going to consider as 2 visits and they will charge me 2x. It was a bad experience but the MA was wonderful though.

South Hill COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in South Hill?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in South Hill?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your South Hill-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in South Hill?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near South Hill including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in South Hill?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many South Hill-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in South Hill?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in South Hill are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 South Hill?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in South Hill?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
