The staff were very nice and very helpful. The only issue I had was that I ended up needing to go to the hospital as my condition was more serious then initially determined by urgent care. I would have appreciated referral instead of waiting for the pain to worsen.

My 89 year old dad was sick with mostly wheezing and coughing so I looked online and was able to book an appointment for 20 minutes later. I had tried 3 other urgent cares that couldn’t see him the same day. I was impressed with the staff and the doctor that treated my dad. He ended up having pneumonia, so I am so thankful they were able to see him and get the medication he needed. I will definitely use them in the future when needed.

I’ve been struggling with a virus of some type for two weeks and could not get rid of a nagging cough, feeling of tiredness, sinus congestion and headache. The staff was friendly, caring, knowledgeable and very professional. David was an excellent PA. I was given Covid and flu tests and a chest x-ray. I also received several prescriptions and detailed instructions. My husband and I have been to Carolina Plus Urgent Care several times and have always been extremely impressed and satisfied! I would highly recommend this urgent care location.

I came in one day without an appoint and waited two hours as a walk-in before I had to leave without being tested. I made an appointment through Labcorp for the next day, showed up on time, got tested easily and was on my way in 15-20 minutes. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Great discreet service, scheduled my visit and paid for for the test online not in Showed up at lab, checked in and was seen within minutes. Blood and urine were collected, test results came back quickly within 2 days because I did my test on a Friday. Quick, easy and cheap. Didn't have to wait for a visit to my PCP, and then get referral to lab.

BMP Testing in Lowesville

A BMP test checks the levels of eight components in your blood and can be used by doctors to determine if you have one or more serious medical problems. BMP blood tests are commonly performed as part of a routine medical exam. If you are seeking emergency medical care or have been diagnosed with and are being treated for a chronic condition, BMP testing may be required.

A BMP test can be used to check the following body functions and processes:

  • Kidney function
  • Blood sugar levels
  • Metabolism
  • Lung function
  • Blood calcium level
  • Blood acid and base balance
  • Fluid and electrolyte balance
  • Organ health and function
  • Cell, blood, and tissue health

Basic Metabolic Panel FAQs

  • What is a BMP blood test?

A BMP blood test examines eight different components in your blood to see if your body is functioning properly. The metabolism, energy levels, chemical balance, and organ function are all examined in this examination. If you have a chronic condition such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or kidney disease, it may be done as part of a routine checkup. During a BMP, your doctor draws a small sample of your blood and sends it to the lab for testing and analysis.

  • What is included in a basic metabolic panel?

A BMP measures the levels of eight substances in your blood. The factors tested include blood urea nitrogen (BUN), blood glucose, calcium, carbon dioxide, chloride, creatinine, potassium, and sodium. If you have abnormally high levels of one or more of these substances, you may have a serious health concern that requires immediate attention.

  • How much do BMP tests cost in Lowesville?

The cost of a BMP test in Lowesville is determined by a number of factors, including provider rates and whether the test is covered by your health insurance. Contacting the Lowesville blood testing location or your health insurance provider to learn more about your benefits is the best way to discover the cost of a BMP.

  • Does insurance cover BMP testing in Lowesville?

BMP testing is covered by many health insurance coverage, especially if your doctor believes it is medically necessary. Contact your Lowesville provider to see if your health insurance supports BMP testing and to learn more about your coverage and any out-of-pocket expenditures. Some BMP testing companies may be able to check your insurance coverage for you.

  • Where should I get a basic metabolic panel in Lowesville?

In Lowesville, a BMP can be performed at your doctor's office, a lab, or a hospital. Many doctors will refer you to a reputable BMP provider who will do the test and report the results to your physician. You can also use Solv to identify reputable BMP providers in your area who have a high rating.

  • How long does it take to get BMP blood test results?

Depending on lab personnel and production, the results of a BMP blood test can take anywhere from a few hours to 24 hours to arrive. Some BMP providers in Lowesville may contact your doctor with the findings, which could take a few days or weeks. The BMP test provider can usually provide you a more accurate time estimate for receiving your results.

  • What is the normal range for a basic metabolic panel?

All laboratories and BMP providers have distinct “normal” value ranges when it comes to BMPs. The BMP results shown below are usually considered normal:

    • BUN: 6 to 20 mg/dL
    • Blood glucose: 64 to 100 mg/dL
    • Calcium: 8.5 to 10.2 mg/dL
    • Carbon dioxide: 23 to 29 mmol/L
    • Chloride: 96 to 106 mmol/L
    • Creatinine: 0.8 to 1.2 mg/dL
    • Potassium: 3.7 to 5.2 mEq/L
    • Sodium: 136 to 144 mEq/L
  • Do I need to see a doctor before getting a BMP test in Lowesville?

Many providers in Lowesville require a doctor's referral to do a BMP test. The main benefit of seeing a doctor first is that you'll be able to assess whether or not this test is necessary based on your symptoms and medical history. A BMP test is commonly performed prior to surgery, in an emergency, or when your doctor needs to precisely diagnose a problem.
